Yesterday the effort to raise more municipal taxes called Ballot measure 2C went down to total defeat more than 2 to 1. While many who voted against this measure had all the worst of motives, the measure needed to be defeated since it really was a ballot measure to try to continue to run the city the way it has been done, and entirely on behalf of the local business community tied totally into profiting from the gigantic military industrial welfare complex that dominates Colorado Springs. Now there is a new move afoot, to hold current local leaders responsible for the mess they are making of the city. These smug bosses should not be allowed to continue in office and cutback local services, all other than the bloated policing and administrative office positions that now suck the city budget dry and that the current crew in power wants to maintain.
Here below is reprinted is the Colorado Springs Gagzette article word for word announcing this recall effort against the Mayor and his sidekick.

A homeless advocate and retired Army officer is launching a recall of Colorado Springs Mayor Lionel Rivera and Vice Mayor Larry Small.“I believe both Mr. Rivera and Mr. Small have been and are unable to do what this city requires to become financially stable and provide what (its) citizens need,” Patrick Ayers said in an e-mail.
“They along with other members of the (City Council) bear much of the major responsibility for our current state of affairs,” he said.
Ayers did not immediately return a call for comment.
City Clerk Kathryn Young, whose office conducts municipal elections, which includes “the issuance, acceptance and verification” of recall petitions, also did not immediately return a call for comment.
Ayers will officially announce the recall effort at noon Friday outside City Hall, 107 N. Nevada Ave., according to Ayers’ e-mail.

There’s a public hearing, three in fact, about bus service next Thursday. The last one being at 7 pm at City Hall.
I don’t know if the tax increase would have gone to alleviate any of that, probably not …
But not having it is going to get His Dishonor and Mr Bruce what they would consider a mandate to cut bus service as much as possible. I smell more collusion between those two thieves, they’ve been feeding each other ever since I came here.
It’s already been bad enough that if you depend on the bus for transportation many if not most businesses in town won’t consider hiring you.
Sounds much like they’re inviting a fight with their “let them eat cake” measures.
Recalling the Mayor might not be enough. But those three “public meetings” are going to be a rallying point.
One of the services they’re cutting is the ParaTransit. Guess they feel that the blind and paralyzed and us other disabled folk should “just buy a car”…. and of course. eat cake.

Where can I sign the recall petition. I am very thankful for everyone who is involved in this recall effort. It’s the beginning but the first step in restoring our lovely community. Please let people know where they can sign this petition.
Thank you,
Lori
