Ditching schools to make American Taliban enclaves in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.- While secularist crusader Richard Dawkins was delighting evangelical atheists at a nearby college campus, addressing how the charter school movement is subverting public education with religious indoctrination, the local District 11 school board was selling off another two primary schools --to charter school privateers! Flipping moribund neighborhoods to the Christian Soldiers. Is privatizing schools better than selling the properties to real estate developers? Communities need their schools. But yesterday's decision means the neighborhoods of Jefferson Elementary and Irving Middle School will encircle Christian madrases, centers not of learning but militant god-on-our-side imperialism. The schools were closed in 2009 due to alleged declines in enrollment. If charter entrepreneurs succeed with their revival tent schools for dummies, they'll turn more Springs neighborhoods into klan xenophobe enclaves. Who wants to raise their kids around Xbox/drone suicide bombers in training, beside American Idiot parents? They recoil at the Taliban, its madrasa schools and suicide bombers, extremist misrepresentations of Islam. But in the West, Christian zealots are the norm, technology perhaps obscuring their imbecility, fighting for Our God and disposing themselves into the trash heap of war. Now Colorado Springs has two more soldier fodder incubators.

Now Colorado College students have to ask permission if they want to protest

COLORADO COLLEGE- How do you protest having to seek permission to protest? Do it without. But Colorado College students learned on Wednesday that protesters risk arrest for trespassing: trespassing on the private property of a private college ostensibly protecting the non-dissenting students from having to see dissent. It would be interesting to see college administrators have to explain that on their campus, the freedom to speak didn't include the freedom to hear.

14 cents

Since cities like Colorado Springs are trying to make it illegal for anyone to ask for spare change on downtown streets and elsewhere, the State of Colorado in its infinite wisdom and kindness of the bosses has just now raised the minimum wage by 14 cents an hour! Whoopeee!!!!!! Now don't go out and spend it all in one place, You Miserable Wage Slaves. And remember.... it's real criminality to be asking anybody for an extra something or other. Shame on you if you persist in doing that.

Gazette not only blocks story of local fracking protest, but assigns goon to disrupt it

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO.- This past Tuesday saw the largest demonstration yet against oil and gas drilling in Colorado Springs and the ugly practice of hydraulic fracturing. Several dozen fractivists allied with Colorado Springs Citizens for Community Rights (CSCCR) and Occupy were joined on the steps of City Hall by Colorado College students who'd marched from their campus with banners and posters denouncing fracking. You didn't hear about it did you? After the rally everyone filled the council chamber to give 3-minute personal testimonials that ran for two hours. That too went unreported, in particular by the Gazette, who had two reporters in the room, one who'd conducted interviews, and both who took notes during the presentations. But neither produced a story -- an odd dereliction of responsibility you might say. Even more odd was the role played by Gazette editorial page writer Wayne Laugesen who ultimately opined on the city council's decision to postpone their vote, as "caving to anti-energy activists", offering no details. Laugesen actually interjected himself into the rally outside as a lone counter-protester, interrupting interviews being filmed for TV stations KRDO and KKTV. When they asked Laugesen to let them do their job, the goon replied that he was doing his. So the Gazette was not satisfied to blackout reports of the community rally, but aimed to sabotage it as well. Whose job was Wayne Laugesen doing exactly? Was he confusing his publisher for the overseers who hold his tether: the pro-industry PR mill Americans For Prosperity? It could be. But the Gazette is now hardly distinguishable from contract stink-tank corporate profiteering advocacy. When conservative mummies Freedom Communications supervised the Gazette, the pretense was tax-cutting, tax-dodging libertarianism. The Gazette's new owner made his billions in corrupt oil, real estate and privatization schemes, so prospects are looking dim for the region's daily paper to offer authentic news. Having their editorial hit-man on the ground as a pretend grass root weed killer is a disturbing development that must not go unchallenged. Contrast the Gazette blackout and the relatively tepid coverage by the weekly Independent, with the monthly African American Voice which gave the previous anti-fracking rally a front-page, full color, two-page article, whose theme accurately accused the city council of being "out of touch with the community." AAV publisher James Tucker has participated in several of the rallies and understands whose interest he represents. On the other hand, Tuesday was the umpteenth time the Gazette has ignored the rising community effort to oppose the oil and gas lobby. For many months of city council meetings, Gazette correspondent Daniel Chacon has dutifully sat at his stenographer's seat and witnessed testimony after testimony from community voices without reporting a single one. On one particularly contentious council meeting in November, Chacon summarized the council's decision without mentioning the overwhelming community presence. This Tueday's voices were joined by EPA-whistleblower Wes Wilson and environmental activist Phil Doe, who'd come from Denver to testify before the Colorado Springs council. Phil Doe made an earnest plea for council to

Colorado Springs anti- panhandling ordinance set to become Mayor Bach’s expensive big flop and political fiasco

The creepy new Right Wing mayor of Colorado, Steve Bach, has gotten HIS anti-panhandling ordinance passed this week and it's set to become an expensive big flop that city tax payers will have to pay out with our monies, as the city attorneys try to defend municipal enforcement for a clearly illegal measure that will fail all the basic tests in the courtroom. Why is that? Short answer is simply that the new law violates all OUR remaining rights to hear free speech voiced in this country and this city of Colorado Springs. See Amid debate, Colorado Springs may join cities banning panhandling where the LA Times shows us how this form of anti free speech legislation has been faring in other spots across the US? These anti- panhandling ordinances not only violate the free speech rights of the panhandler, but they also violate the free speech rights of those being panhandled, too. If somebody (a panhandler) says they are hungry or without medical care or a place to sleep at night, then I and you and all of us have the right to hear what our neighbor has to say and to respond to him/ her personally, since the elected authorities are clearly not doing any decent job of protecting the public from destitution these days. Sure, there are plenty enough non charitable people in Colorado Springs who want to be 'protected' from the free speech of the panhandler and the rest of us in the general public and are willing to have Mayor Bach pay police to jail people for that, but many of us out there want to be able to hear these panhandlers out and it is our right to hear free speech be expressed that is really what Right Wing Mayor Bach wants mainly to stop from happening. I have been to many a city council meeting and these self congratulators mainly want only to pat themselves on their backs rather than hear what other citizens have to say about the many real problems that many of us are really facing. These city council clowns want boosterism for the corporations and military and want the rest of us to just shut up and bow down to Big Money interests which they want to represent instead of Common Folk that live here. They want to suppress ALL our Free Speech rights and not help Free Speech of dissenting Americans who might be residents of here and not members of the favored castes. The ACLU should have an easy job of busting up Mitt Romney loving Republican Mayor Bach's anti Free Speech ordinance. How many of hundreds of thousands of dollars will the city of Colorado Springs eventually come to spend in trying to deny people their right to hear if somebody is in need? After all, that is what panhandling is all about, Bach. How much

Unlike in Colorado Springs, Americans in Auburn, Washington were not subjected to a completely pro- more war parade on Veterans Day

What a contrast in Auburn to what Right Wingers subject us all to here in Colorado Springs each and every Veterans Day as they use our collective public tax monies to parade their pro war sentiments through public streets. See events in Auburn, Washington... Anti-war veterans took part in the Veterans Day Parade in Auburn on Saturday, a day after a federal judge ordered the city to allow them to participate.--- Thank You, Antiwar Vets, for the service you do for our country. BTW, that photo headlining this commentary is of an antiwar vet at a protest by antiwar vets at a presidential debate in 2008. Unlike your ordinary American soldier, antiwar vets are actually defending Americans right to exercise their Free Speech and not just suppressing people militarily for the US corporate super rich in some foreign country or other. ‘Lesser-evil’ politics demoralize and demobilize progressives

'Both parties have been driving the country in the same direction for decades now, and towards the same destination. Their road is to a future in which the government safety net is dismantled, working conditions and wages decline to be globally “competitive,” and the power of capital is unrestrained by labor. The Republicans want to speed things up so we get there faster, while the Democratic driver prefers a slightly slower, cruise-control pace. But the car is heading in the same direction regardless of who is driving.' ---(Taken from Reviewing the failed strategy of the ‘pragmatists’) Today, this message that both corporate parties were bad for the country was taken to the 6,000 people who came to hear Romney speak in Colorado Springs at the airport. I would say that about 1 out of 5 responded favorably to this position as many Republicans themselves don't really feel very positive about the Romney/ Ryan message.

US gov supported ‘disappearing’ people in Colombia and now runs Mexican ‘drug war’ killings out of Peterson AFB

The US currently intervenes inside Mexico by running Mexico's 'drug war' out of Peterson AFB, located right here in Colorado Springs where NORTHCOM is located. What track record do the US government and military have in their bloody Made-in-the-USA 'drug wars' in the Americas? See Killing in The Name of... Death Squads, Murder and U.S. Corruption in Colombia.

Walmart: Strike you goddamn morons!

Finally, finally Walmart slave-wage workers are marching, on their off hours, picketing their stores. Finally. It's tempting to get out there and hold signs in support, but where were they when we were protesting Walmart ourselves? The pathetic Walmart "associates" couldn't be convinced we weren't jeopardizing the source of their livelihoods. Except their jobs aren't livelihoods. Even as Walmarts in more and more cities face a growing uprising, I'm not convinced that our local workforce can wise up beyond agitating to medicate their lives with pot or jumping at the chance to scab each other's part-time hours.

Democracy How?

Amy Goodman of the program Democracy Now was in Colorado Springs last night (Thursday) speaking to a small group of patrons of KRCC radio crowd which, along with Colorado College the owner of the station, did a royally piss poor job of building the event. Few people were aware of the event taking place and few showed up as a result of that lack of promotion for the show. Corporate pushing KRCC never seemed to have ever wanted to carry Democracy Now in the first place, favoring Mobil-Exon Oil promoted PBS (Corporate Broadcasting System) by far in their huge hours given to push PBS's Democratic Party/ Republican Party ONLY politics nonstop over Colorado airwaves. KRCC is certainly not my idea of what a credible ALTERNATIVE media outlet should be sounding like. How could it be, with Sue Woolsey, wife of the former CIA director and notable Right Winger creep James Woolsey Jr., chairing the board of Colorado College and by extension, KRCC itself? The Woolsey family are big pushers for starting war against Iran. However, all is hardly perfect with Democracy Now itself either. Today's Counterpunch tells the story of another Amy Goodman-Democracy Now visit to another city which was Baltimore, home of the author of this particular Counterpunch published commentary. Read the piece and get a glimpse of how Democracy Now looks to some of us out here in America's Left Wing. We need many more shows like Democracy Now to counter the continuing and constant lies of the corporate run American media, but we need to look at what we have broadcasting for OUR side with open and clear eyes and ears, too. See No Questions for the Questioner Democracy How!?

Springs Mayor Steve Bach’s downtown plans centered on real estate speculation and corruption

As I was listening this AM to Right Wing talk radio on 105.5 today, they had Colorado Springs mayor telling us in an interview that it was no secret that he wants a baseball stadium to be built downtown which he claims will somehow revitalize the center of the city. That's as doubtful a claim as his idiotic boast that he personally will direct the city into 'creating' 6,000 new jobs during his term, which could only come about with a US economic recovery he banks on seeing happen though he would have no responsibility in bringing any such possible thing about. The fact that he has such little common sense in making this comical boast in time of national economic downturn is underlined with his other ass backwards (to the real estate industry) drives to initiate FURTHER witch hunts against the city's homeless population through a law making panhandling an illegal act, and now his budding personal campaign to convert the coal using Drake Power plant an area for a gigantic, wasteful, and totally UNNEEDED stadium bond project for his real estate cronies to personally profit off of. What other schemes will he soon be behind? What a sorry cretin of a mayor the city is now saddled under! It is hard for me to believe that anybody worse than former Mayor Lionel Rivera could have been created but that's exactly what the El Paso County Republican Party did in pushing steve Bach off onto the community. They brought us even worse than Rivera! They brought us Bach. Bach as mayor is like having our very own local clone of dullard Mitt Romney running the show here at military elite's home base, Colorado Springs. Makes us weep about what the future will soon bring to Colorado Springs, military show base central or not. More faceless, lifeless, and UGLY development by a real estate industry that only wants to build build build without any real thinking about how trashy their building really is? Certainly another big empty parking lot for a big empty downtown urban stadium like Bach is pushing for is just building more failure on top of the other major construction boondoggles in urban planning many other cities have already lost out on in having their own local corrupt politician and business crews stick it to the public and stick up the public with. It would be the crown followup for the real estate industry's ugly SPRAWL to the north and east of the city, which is the real reason the downtown has so little to offer at this time. Much of the city's public now lives miles and miles away from the core of the city in kind of dead zones. No! Make that really socially dead zones where they live in. YUCK! Now Back wants

What the persecution and continued prosecution of Josh Carrier says about the craziness of Colorado Springs cops, its politicians, and its people

Let's admit it- we live in one of the nuttiest cities of a crazy sick and sad society called the US of A. Nothing locally illustrates this more than the total idiocy of city officials regarding one of the city's ex-cops, Joshua Carrier, who in an abuse of local policing authority fondled several high school boys at a local middle school of D-11, which is a nutty, sick and dysfunctional school district here. The city prosecutor originally brought charges of around 150 felony accounts against Carrier for what really was a rather benign 'sex crime' (for nobody at the school really even thought what he did was weird at first), and a much more serious example of police abuse of authority. See here about the verdict in this earlier jury event of April this year... Josh Carrier Not Convicted On Most Serious Charges 21 Convictions For Child Porn, Not Guilty Or No Verdict On 186 Counts. So what was the problem for the city that a ridiculous 21 convictions for one crime was not thought sufficient for the nutty people running this city and its police, and that therefore they had to retry Joshua Carrier yet again? Why did they feel the need to WASTE our municipal tax monies? Was it that Carrier had offended the Religious Right nut cases that abound in Colorado Springs? Does anybody really here believe that the man actually committed 150 felonies when he 'inspected' the genitalia of some boys in a Middle School athletic program with the full consent at the time of D-11 school authorities and Colorado Springs police, evidently too, since he was employed by them, also? Nobody at all seems to have thought to say that his 'inspection' program was wrong as he did it in full view of his own bosses! Let this man go to prison a year or two and stop your sexual neuroses from running wild, you Right Wing nut cases of Colorado Springs who also happen to misrun this city in every other way imaginable. Carrier does not deserve to spend the rest of his life in our prison gulag eating up even yet more tax monies for what he actually did. YES, we are a sick sick society and let's throw some of our super misfit politicians and corporate thieves in prison before we allow them, with our complicit agreement, to place yet more time in there for Joshua Carrier, who is a miserable miscreant but not as miserable a jerk as our local politician morons are, including Mayor Back and the members of the city council. Let's have some common sense and not let the cops and politicians degrade, in their persecution of one of their former not so finest, the whole idea of what a major sex crime actually might be. It is simply a USA disgrace that our increasingly

One man’s war hero is another’s snitch. Iraqi informant Jasim Mohammed Ramadon is also an American rapist.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- Haha. Iraqi "war hero" Jasim Mohammed "Steve-O" Ramadon was granted asylum in the US after snitching on his countrymen, his tribe, and own father, as a youth informer for the US Army. An American soldier brought Ramadon back to Ft. Carson and praised him as a war hero in his memoir. Now Ramadan has been getting himself into trouble for drunk driving and beating women. Recently, he and four other Iraqi expats were arrested for the violent sexual assault of a neighbor, probably the everyday rape M.O. of American soldiers in occupied lands. I'm laughing because while Ramadon betrayed his dad, beat his girlfriend, and now faces charges of rape, local teabag Red White & Blue guy Jim Cross stepped forward as character witness for Ramadon, saying "his heart is in the right place." Does being a conservative jingoist mean you have to hit every sour note?   I was reminded of Cross today because our City Hall fracking protest was interrupted by the stereotypical blimp-neck sticking his smartphone in our faces with lame gotcha questions, beginning with the usual insincere "So what's this about?" Today's idiot was no brighter than Cross, and thought he'd caught us up because we protested oil drilling yet drove there burning fossil fuels. These guys are almost worth having cameras turned on them, so dopey are their leading questions and smug oversimplifications. This one seemed too dumb to actually be of interest, but it turns out we could have unmasked a local media bully. I learned only later that our camera-wielding heckler was the Gazette's editorialist Wayne Laugesen. So now I've confirmed my suspicion that Mr. Laugesen's relentlessly backward editorials must be cribbed verbatim from right-wing PR mills. For all their nauseating inanity, the editorials are too consistent with the corporate talking points to emit from the moron we saw today. Of course, one man's idiot is a ditto-head's intellectual. Laugesen trailed us as we walked to lunch, but filmed it like we were running away from his lard ass.

What type of creep helps US military in their occupation of his own country?

PROFILE OF AN IRAQI FRIEND OF THE PENTAGON- '(Jasim Mohammed Hassin) Ramadon was featured in “A Soldier’s Promise,” a combat memoir by Army First Sgt. Daniel Hendrex, published in 2009, that detailed his relationship with Ramadon as a teenager who risked his life to provide information to U.S. soldiers deployed in Husaybah, a town in Al Anbar Province of Iraq. During an interview months ago on KOAA-TV in Colorado Springs, Ramadon said his mother told him to help the Americans. When he tried to return, she told him he had to go back to the soldiers or be killed. His Army protectors said Ramadon ultimately turned over 40 insurgents to the Americans, including his father. (...) Several soldiers interviewed by KOAA-TV said Ramadon was brought to the United States for his help and he settled in Colorado Springs, where the Army unit was based at Fort Carson.' from Iraqi hero among 5 arrested in Colorado Springs sex attack that left woman seriously injured.

University of Colorado lease does not guarantee Memorial Hospital will continue to admit Medicare patients

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- Local voters have until next week to decide whether to accept the offer to lease the city's Memorial Hospital to a University of Colorado non-profit entity, but there is no guarantee that the community health needs will continue to be met, in particular, that Memorial will continue to accept Medicare. Indications are not encouraging. At a symposium held tonight by 9 to 5 Colorado addressing privatization of public services, it was revealed that Memorial provides more care to indigents than any other hospital in the state. At the same time, the Denver hospital run by the University of Colorado currently ranks last there for indigent care. Apparently teaching hospitals prefer teachable cases, and excuse themselves from the cases that create billing difficulties because "it's not their mission." Alas, the prestige of becoming a teaching hospital is how politicians are selling the Memorial deal, now obviously dubious. And ordinarily the privatization of medical facilities in Colorado is regulated by what's called a "conversion statute" except --it protects the public interest only in cases of hospitals sold, not leased! While a 40-year "lease" sounds less commital, it actually circumvents Colorado's protections. Now let's consider the implementation of President Obama's Affordable Healthcare Act which may take some financial pressure off hospitals. Why-ever is Colorado Springs rushing to privatize before that card is face up? You can bet the medical industrialists have already factored that windfall into the profit they're going to turn from cutting out everyone else who falls in the cracks. And we will have no say in the matter, because the lease makes that much clear. Why not ask our city attorney to confirm we're screwed before the election and not after?

Colorado is simply full of people who do not respect Mother Nature at all — You Morons!

Don't you get sick of the annual Pikes Peak auto races? I do. The whole event is simply morons trashing out Mother Nature. Jeremy Foley Crash - Pikes Peak 2012 ...With people like this seeing their 'races' as sport, firing guns off at firing ranges in the mountains, and all the other stupid activities morons like to do with their expensive toys, it is no wonder we have so many huge forest fires each summer. And this is not to even mention the little girl almost killed this year.... How Pikes Peak Became The Most Dangerous Place I’ve Ever Raced ...These races are an embarrassment to the city of Colorado Springs, which is already an embarrassment to Colorado. Part of our city's ugly face to the rest of the world, along with the religious nuts and military mind set all over the place...

Steve Bass found guilty of camping not occupying, but could jury have ruled otherwise without hearing his defense?

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- You may have underestimated the importance of today's Camping Ban trial. The local media, social justice community and rights watchdogs missed it. But judging from the police force on hand and the elaborate lock-downs placed on the jury pools, it was evident the City of Colorado Springs thought a lot was at stake. I've written already about the draconian motions to prevent defendant Steve Bass from explaining his motives, including a ban of the word "Occupy." Today the court made audience members remove their "Occupy Colorado Springs" t-shirts, but let the cat out of the bag by the palpable gravitas with which the court officials and police handled jury selection. Except for the absence of TV crews outside, you'd have thought Steve Bass was Hannibal Lector tripped up by an urban camping ordinance at "what happened last year in October at a park downtown." Yeah, even mention of "Acacia Park" was giving away too much, the prosecuting attorney preferred to call it "115 W. Platte Ave." Every so often a prospective juror would stand up and say "I presume you're referring to OCCUPY WALL STREET?" like he was solving a riddle, but instead of the door prize that volunteer would be dismissed from the pool for knowing too much. After a trial that lasted one third the length of the jury selection, Steve Bass was found guilty. He offered no testimony, his lawyer, the very capable Patty Perelo, made no closing statement, because what defense could be made? Steve and his council elected not to have him testify, because to begin with, he'd have to swear to tell the whole truth, and if he explained he could only tell part of the truth, he'd be slapped with Contempt of Court. We thought the jurors might have been curious, after seeing the city's 8x10 glossy pictures with the circles and arrows telling what each one was and hearing not a peep from Bass, but they didn't express it, and left after giving their verdict. This is Colorado Springs. One of the prosecution's witnesses, the arresting officer, nearly spilled the beans when he identified the defendant as someone he couldn't have confused for someone else, because he'd said he'd encountered Bass many times in the park and shared many conversations. "Oh?" the defense attorney Perelo perked her ears and asked, "and WHAT did you talk about?" "Um... homeless policy, mostly." That's all HE could say. He couldn't explain why he'd encountered the defendant so many times, or what the defendant was doing. Attorney Perelo couldn't push it, because that would be leading him into forbidden territory. His testimony for the prosecutor was delivered straight from his notes. There were two police witnesses, a map and several photographs, showing the tent and another showing just the poles. Was this necessary for a conviction? Because it necessitated explaining to the jury that said poles were in their "unerected state". Not to be confused with the tent which was "fully erected", which the judge pronounced like expressions

Steve Bass to get his day in court, but he can’t say what he was doing or why, & above all he can’t mention “Occupy”

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-- Municipal Court Judge Spottswood W. F. Williams heard a final motion today before the AUGUST 10 trial of Occupier Steve Bass, charged with violating the city's camping ban. The prosecution motioned to forbid from trial, "discussion of political, economic, or religious beliefs or ideology as a purported justification for the alleged acts", and even "arguments related to the belief that the defendant's conduct was constitutionally protected", and in true Colorado Springs fashion, the judge GRANTED the city's motion! YES THAT'S RIGHT, now if Bass wanted to say he wasn't "camping," he can't say what else you would call it! In effect, Defendant Bass is prevented from explaining WHY he was occupying, or even THAT he was occupying, because saying "OCCUPY" is expressly forbidden. The judge will play it by ear whether to make an exception for himself during "voir dire" if selecting impartial jurors might require asking their opinion of "Occupy". That's IF BASS GETS A JURY AT ALL, because next, Judge Williams prompted the city prosecutor to research whether Bass was entitled to a jury of his peers for the infraction of camping... The issue had already been resolved in an earlier hearing. Unable to find definitive wording on whether a camping ban violation invoked the right to a jury trial, the court ruled to proceed as if it did. But at today's hearing Judge Williams related that in the interim over a casual dinner conversation, another judge informed him that the law read otherwise. So he put the question again to the prosecution. And again the citations came up inconclusive. This time however, with the clerk advised to continue the search, the decision stands at "pending". If Judge Williams opts to eliminate the jury, the forbidding of political or constitutional discussion is a moot point, actually two. There won't be a jury to confuse, nor a judge either, because Judge Williams decided, by allowing the city's motion, that the defendant has no arguments to make. Case closed. If the judge gets his way. The point of today's hearing was to hear not a judge's motion but the city's, a "motion in limine" used to reach agreement about what arguments can be excluded from the trial, often a defendant's prior convictions which might prejudice a jury. The core of the city's motion was this: ...that the Defendant be ordered to refrain from raising the following issues at the Jury Trial... 1. Discussion of political, economic, or religious beliefs or ideology as a purported justification for the alleged acts, or as an issue to be evaluated by the jury; 2. Presentation of facts or arguments related to the belief that the defendant's conduct was constitutionally protected expressive conduct; 3. Presentation of facts or arguments with the primary purpose or effect of proselytizing for the occupy movement, or otherwise using the Courtroom as a public forum; 4. Any reference to settlement negotiations with the Defendant prior to trial; The city is guessing that because defendant Bass has passed on all opportunities to dismiss his case on

Heads kept down in Colorado Springs as professional gunman, Army Ranger ‘Little Monster’, threatens rampage

COLO. SPRINGS-- The CSGT morning headline described Aurora shooter: GUNMAN WAS LIKE ASSASSIN GOING TO WAR, but the next news cycle warned of a pro, this time an Army Ranger, cruising the city, who'd flown from Fort Lewis, Washington with the intention of killing his ex-fiance, her new boyfriend, then himself. The 5-foot-5 Sgt. Joshua Johnston Daner, a special forces soldier nicknamed "Little Monster", has three guns, "violent tendencies" and possibly an injured hand from punching a wall. If you think having to look out for one Army Ranger is bad, imagine a city in a US war zone, Iraq or Afghanistan where Daner served for example, bracing for teams of "Little Monsters", a death squad of Rangers, or brigades of regulars behaving with less discipline than special ops, with the authority to hit you as they would a wall. With no clue to the whereabouts of said ex, Colorado Springs residents are bracing for a city wide free fire zone, though a drive-by at a strip-bar seems the most likely scenario. If you're not chatting up a stripper looking to scam a soldier for their life insurance, you're probably not in the line of fire. So far the Gazette has this: Daner has served eight four- or five-month tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan, said Mark Edwards, an Army Human Resources spokesman. He most recently returned in February 2011 from a five-month tour in Afghanistan, Edwards said. Daner entered the Army in 2003, completed ranger training in July 2006 and has been stationed at Fort Lewis since around that time, Edwards said. Daner has received numerous military commendations, including the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with one campaign star, as well as the Iraq Campaign Medal with one campaign star, Edwards said. Army Rangers are a group of highly-trained troops who specialize in airborne operations, along with raiding facilities and enemy compounds, according to the Army. The 2nd Battalion of the 75th Ranger Regiment is stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord. No reports yet of a Daner rap-sheet, though obviously investigators should look to his deployment record for priors.

More troops, more ‘drug war’, more bloodshed to be result of recent rigged Mexican presidential election

This picture depict 750 more Mexican troops arriving this week with grand public display to Torreon, a metropolitan area of about 1,500,000 south of Chihuahua on the route north to Ciudad Juarez-El Paso. The newly selected Presidente Nieto is going to continue the US government's 'drug war' in Mexico that the previous presidente, Felipe Calderon, was known for implementing. More death and more horror for Mexico, all forcibly imported from the Pentagon, NORTHCOM Mexican 'drug war' command center, Peterson AFB located just outside of Colorado Springs. Colorado Springs holds memorial service for young American, Armando Montano, murdered in Mexico City

Among the tributes Sunday were those from Montano's colleagues in Colorado, Mexico and elsewhere around the world. In honor of his life, the song "Gracias a la Vida" by the late Argentine artist Mercedes Sosa was performed, as well as a video and a slide show montage compiled by his friends and family.' Our heart goes out to the family of this young man. See Memorial Service Held from the Associated Press. Armando was murdered for what? How sad it is to see such a high level of rampant criminality occurring all across Mexico these days. By the choice of materials chosen for the memorial service and the manner it was done in, one can see that family and son were all good people who certainly do not deserve this tragedy that has fallen upon them.

US Made War Zone – Ciudad Juarez

There is a recently made video that examines in a very balanced manner, the Mexican elections as seen from the viewpoint of the people living in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua- US made war zone. It is very informative and well worth the time watching this 20min film... THE FEMALE JOURNALISTS OF JUAREZ. One has to ask why is it that the US can run this 'drug war' inside Mexico from right out here in NORTHCOM command center, Colorado Springs, and nobody in Colorado Springs knows anything about it? Why? And where are our tough, hard hitting local journalists from The Gazette and The Independent? They're both missing the big story. In fact, they have utterly failed to keep us Colorado citizens informed.
