Tibetan suicides versus Indian suicides as reported by US corporate-run press; and then there is Greece, too

By now, most Americans have heard about those young Tibetan Buddhist monks committing suicide as protest against the Chinese control over their region. Tibetan Buddhist monks control the country of Bhutan but they also want control over the areas of Chinese Tibet as well. But how many Americans know about the suicides of farmers in capitalist India over the last dozen are so years? Very few I would wager a bet.... 32564

Another FOX brainwash session

They're reporting the mine collapse in China as being a failure of the Communist economic system, and just not pointing out that it's CAPITALIST deregulation that caused it, just like the mine collapses in New Zealand, Chile, Peru, West Virginia.... and the Deepwater Horizon oil rig in the Gulf Oil spill Massive Petroleum Hemorrhage were caused by the POP principle. Profits Over People. The difference is that in China the Death Penalty applies to murder by Corporation. The CEO of the Chinese mine is likely to become an unwilling organ donor. Don L Blankenship, the Retired CEO of Massey Energy, who created 29 job openings with one (predictable AND predicted) reaction to defiance of existing regulations, will continue to be a multi-millionaire and will continue to donate to Right Wing Causes like, loosening regulations even further... so he can KILL more miners, Oil workers, factory workers, construction workers, farm workers, unlike himself REAL workers, and feast on the proceeds of their life and death. Those who like myself are merely crippled by their policies will be discarded, jailed, treated as psychotics and criminals and, if the plans of Blankenship and his allies, and their political appointees, to buy the entire governance

First they came for the Communists, but we don’t like Communists…

First they came for the Communists,? and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, ?and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews,? and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for me? and there was no one left to speak out for me.   These famous words float an admonition, but isn't it more likely an adage? They describe the passivity which permitted Hitler's abuses, but could apply to the ordinary manifestation of totalitarianism. Has human nature yet learned except in hindsight? First they came for the Communists, but we all spoke out, the end. That's because the big lie is "they." Try substituting "we" and you see the tsunamic inevitability of mob ethnocentrism. First we came for the Communists, Trade Unionists, and Jews, then him, then her, pure fun until it was me. Oops. 25446

Town in Georgia has arsenic that residents didn’t know…

Sounds familiar, yes? but the Georgia in question is the former Soviet Republic. And like our own Poison Hill, "Gold Hill Mesa Estates" McMansions starting at a quarter million here in Colorado Springs, houses built on top of a toxic waste mound, it was about mine waste. The other part of the story in the opening paragraph which some "capital is god" proponents would find shocking... Georgia, two and a half decades after the "fall of communisim" has been living under the freest of free market capitalist regimes in the world, has only 60% of the wealth they had under the Soviet Union WHAT? Wasn't the Economic Strangulation of Communism replaced with the much better (so we're told) Capitalism, replete with all the formerly publicly owned mines, gas wells and other industries having been turned over to International Colonialist Corporations didn't bring them a net profit but instead a net LOSS? My my my my my my my my... seems a certain set of Capitalist Propagandists have been busy little bees, spreading lies all over the place...

Wikileaks tests domino theory: Tunisia

In my imagination the Wikileaks war room in Ellington Hall, the Suffolk manor where Julian Assange is under house arrest, is not a book club reading circle racing through the "not much new" of Cablegate waiting for someone to cry BINGO. It's a war room. The wiki drip is not which diplomatic cables are the juiciest, or which can be released to garner the maximum exposure. Wikileaks is dropping the cables like depth charges, calibrated to explode where the enemy hull is the weakest. Who is trying to sink the great American ship of state terror? With our traditional adversaries won over to Capitalism, the American empire found wars it could pick safely, damn the collateral civilians, full speed ahead. But with Wikileaks it looks to me the US has finally met its match. Forget the communist peril attempting to topple regional dominoes, this is the barbarity of real Democracy at our gates. Attribute the Tunisian revolution to Wikileaks, or color-code it Jasmine to pretend it was USAIDed, I believe the first domino has fallen.

Following Right Wing political theology

Faith based politics where you have to believe fervently the dogma handed down by the High Priests of Capital... But according to their gospels of greed, there has never actually been any revolution where wealth has been redistributed to the poor from the wealthy. In other words, the wealth has been transferred from one group of heavily armed rich thieves to another. Lateral instead of Vertical economic mobility. Thus, no real Socialist state or more importantly, Socialist Economy has ever existed, at least according to the Ayn Rand Theology. Yet somehow, it's the Communists and Socialists, the ones who never had their hands on the missing bread in the first place, who crashed the economy repeatedly over the past 500 years of straight-on Capitalism. For instance the Mortgage Crisis that immediately preceded the crash of the War-expense Bloated Debt Economy. 19242

What, are the Chinese trying to mimic ALL our energy-sector screwups?

So they matched our Corporate Mining Accidents-waiting-to-happen-and-guess-what-they-do with similar ones by similar causes and similar results, and using Imported American industry analysts who also work for BP, Exxon Mobil, Massey Energy, The Peabody, etc... Now, they've got a BP-esque Oil Spill in the Yellow Sea. Is it caused by their "socialist" supposedly publicly owned Nationalized Oil industry, now brought to its dying knees by the New Economy Capitalist Oil industry? Either one, of course, run under the supervision of the American and British Oil well, refinery and shipping Industry Experts who also work for BP, Exxon-Mobil, Massey Energy... The Rule of Three seems to have been pretty damned consistent in all of these lately, too, so maybe we can expect the Fully Capitalized Russian Oil Slick on the (deepwater) horizon? 18923

Is Vietnam a communist country still?

Since most liberals quite haven't really caught up with the now ancient news that China is today a capitalist country run by a leftover Stalinist dictatorship, I thought it instructive to point out that Vietnam is not a communist country today either, and for the same reasons. Its Communist Party recently has devolved the previous revolution back into a nationalist run, counterrevolutionary capitalist class economy under Vietnamese Communist Party control and direction. 4083

One gold equals 1,000 silvers

Nevermind that gold and silver are often separated by a hundreth of a second. Chinese statistics reflect adherence to this depressing credo. In the 2004 Summer Olympics, the USA reigned with 102 medals. China was a distant third with 63. Gold told a different story. China was second with 32, four behind the United States. “Silver? It means nothing here; you might as well finish last,” says former Soviet coach Igor Grinko. “Coaches like me come, help them win gold medals, or we are fired.” 3442

Lucy Parsons and the call for class war

The death of Utah Phillips reminded me of a favorite story he would tell about the Haymarket widow Lucy Parsons. Shoot or Stab Them was advice that got the anarchist agitator arrested whenever she tried to speak in public. Lucy's husband was among those anarchists framed and executed for the infamous 1886 Haymarket bombing. Lucy continued to advocate for labor rights and social change. Here's how Utah told the rest of the story: 3432
