Occupy Colorado Springs is and has been a relatively staid affair. Our biggest marches have drawn maybe 200 participants, and the street corner has been generally host to small crowds and mostly friendly or indifferent passers by. Visits from police have been just that–visits, rather than assaults, even when the HOTT Team came to arrest me early in the morning on 18 October, and the intrepid Camping Jack on two more recent occasions. We had to take steps to force them to make my arrest. Many of the core participants at Acacia Park have never been involved in any sort of political processes at all, let alone public protestations. So when several of our number traveled to Denver last Saturday to join a boisterous crowd of around 3,000 souls emotions were high, mixed, and complex.

It unmasks first DPD raid as a deliberate provocation, sent aimlessly into thick of crowd to make arbitrary arrests. The brutality of the Oakland Police against #OccupyOakland and Iraq vet Scott Olsen is prompting many to measure their eminent victory with ol’ Gandhi’s hopeful adage: “First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” Apparently we’ve reached the fight stage. Yeah no. Sorry folks but teargas and nonlethal measures while dressed in riot gear is still the LAUGH AT YOU stage. You’ll recognize FIGHTING. It’s what America does to everywhere.

Not so good news from Atlanta and Oakland where popo busted up the occupation with tear gas and swinging clubs. This in spite of the fact that no violent acts or threats of violence had come from the occupiers.
I’ll preface this next statement, because some on the MightMakesRight Wing don’t have very good reading skills, Tear Gas is sometimes lethal just as Nerve Gas(es) are not universally lethal, many people have died from tear gas and many people have survived being gassed with The Other.
It’s not a question of whether Tear Gas is lethal but a mere question of relative lethality. Much like the difference between being shot with a .38 special and being shot with a 12 gauge shotgun and that relative to being shot several times with a belt fed machine gun.
The Oakland PIGS, famous for hiring a white supremacist from the former Rhodesia who subsequently MURDERED an American Black Man, Oscar Grant, by shooting Mr Grant in the back while he was laying on the concrete…. Nighttime arrests continue across the country in local moves to stomp on the sparking Occupy Movement, using park, curfew and anti-homeless ordinances to thwart permanent protest encampments. Participants remind each other that it’s about issues not tents. The authorities however seem indifferent to their public raising issues, but raising tents is out of the question. Last night saw a mass arrest of over one hundred in Chicago’s Grant Park. Here’s what they were chanting as occupiers were pulled from their human chain, zip-tied and led paddy wagons on loan from the Illinois prison system.
          ONE! We are the people!
          TWO! We are united!
          THREE! The Occupation
          IS NOT LEAVING!

It finally occurred to me why I had so much difficulty with the term “1%” as applied to Banksters. It’s a biker term. Someone in the late 50s, a motorcycle enthusiast magazine, had said “99 percent of all motorcycle riders are decent, honest law abiding citizens” (very true) and it was a response to a growing distrust of motorcyclists by the general public. Probably fed to the public by propaganda because the Wall Street types would make more money selling people cars than bikes.
So a lot of the Sonny Barger types (he was president of the Hells Angels) took to tattooing “1%” on their forearms where it would be really prominent. Some undoubtedly were and are Billy.
You know Billy, right? Billy the Badass? Some had never met Billy and others had met Billy and got their lunch money taken and sent home crying. Menacing glares and display of anger can be faked and your average citizen wouldn’t be able to tell the difference.
Me, I ride because I enjoy it, and to get from one place to another in a reasonable amount of time. Never gave a crap about the Leader of the Pack attitude. Although I heard one joke about that, “Any biker who hangs out at candy stores picking up schoolgirls must ride a Honda” which is really unfair to Hondas.
But riding a bike is like flying, on the ground. Also gas-saving. I can see where making people afraid of you would be entertaining to a point.
The point being that people who are afraid don’t enjoy the feeling of fear and take steps to remedy it. Liking shooting your ass right off the top of your legs. That’s not fun.
Then I thought about the Junior Police Explorer argument we’ve been having with people who are obviously minions of the 1%.

COLO. SPRINGS- This image just in from a reconnoiter of the downtown police garage. The CSPD has mobilized an urban assault vehicle, for, I don’t know what, keeping up with the Jones’s? Ever since Springs police decided that the Pikes Peak Justice & Peace Commission held gravitational pull over all political dissent in El Paso County, the CSPD holds weekly briefings with a PPJPC staffer, and of late they’ve added morning tete-a-tetes with an OCCUPY delegate from Acacia Park. What are those “representatives” telling them? That law enforcement needs bigger ammo? Would now be the time to suggest we call organizers who grease the mechanisms of oppression, however ill-conceived their intention, by a more appropriate term, RATS?

Under cover of darkness, Boston and Massachusetts State Police raided Camp 2 of the OCCUPY BOSTON protest. A reported fifty activists were arrested, the police brutalized mostly elderly Veterans For Peace members trying to protect the campsite. Even as the paddy wagons were being filled, sanitation department garbage trucks were being filled with all the camp materials, tents, sleeping bags, signs and all. The pretext for the raid was that camping was in violation of city ordinances, the excuse being used on Wall Street and here in Colorado Springs. Constitutionally the enforcement of such laws are violating the protesters’ first amendment right to assemble, a right guaranteed night or day, sunny weather or inclement. The right to shelter is guaranteed by the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Laws targeted at homelessness are being used exactly as opponents feared, to squelch political dissent. Notable about tonight’s raid, the Boston camp was an expansion camp relative to the original encampment, demonstrating that authorities will tolerate protest so long as it is nominal. They definitely do not want to see it growing.

There he is in all his glory, an NYPD “White Shirt”, the now feared NYC police commanders, raring back and using both hands to club Occupy Wall Street marchers. Other footage shows a whole squad of white shirts swinging away. But “squad” is wrong word, that already denotes boys in blue. 2011 DIVERSITY FAIR, NOTES, PART 1- What is our police department doing with high school age “explorers?” They’re uniformed and have their own shoulder patch. Exploring what? The limits to which they impose their weight against peoples’ rights? I’m at a civic festival in Confluence Park, across from a canopy whose shade does not conceal a mass of blue uniforms, adult officers bulky with bullet-proof vests and leather, holstering all manner of law enforcement weaponry, and CSPD apprentices, skinnier for lack of the armor and accouterments, but otherwise dressed exactly like police officers, and adopting the swagger which comes of trooping the colors, emboldened by the anonymity of the requisite Ray-Bans.

Teargas has become a misnomer of course.What’s being used so liberally to suppress demonstrations, to be graphically specific, is vomit-inducing PUKE-GAS. It’s a nausea agent, a respiratory inhibitor, and except when used by the paramilitary police-state, “teargas” is prohibited chemical warfare.

President Obama confirmed tonight, the war in Afghanistan goes on.

It does seem unfair to conclude, after the US special forces operation to hunt and kill Osama bin Laden, that all Navy SEAL teams are death squads, but is it a logical fallacy? No one is now pretending there was any other objective but to kill the al-Qaeda leader and everyone who stood in our path, preferably unarmed. Now the latest revelation is that a duplicate assault team was kept at the ready. That’s how many executioners ready? The question becomes, are all Navy Seals trained to kill in cold blood? The answer could lay with the instructors at Fort Benning, the notorious “School of the Americas” where it used to be understood the death squads of South American dictators learned their trade, although now torture is taught at military camps and private contractor schools literally coast to coast, so isn’t that the problem? If Jesus had come to Colorado Springs last Sunday instead of GW riding his sorry ass into town on Sabbath, He would be sitting in a cell at CDC awaiting execution today. Nowadays the police state doesn’t make a huge public spectacle of torturing somebody to death. They just go ahead and do it, in cells far removed from the eyes of any civilian witnesses.The prisoner is then denounced, post mortem where he can’t defend himself, as “being psychotic”, and when the Good, Noble, Brave Righteous PIGS tried to “restrain” him, he died in the struggle. Like the Murdering Scum Pigs in Denver did to Rev. Marvin Booker 9 months ago… and got away with it. Or that they found him hanged in his cell. The Pig Medical Examiner, himself a Deputized Cop, will confirm whatever his Fellow Pigs said and the DA will instruct the Inquest to clear the PIGS of any wrongdoing. They could march the handcuffed prisoner out into the middle of Acacia Park at noon, force him to the ground, and put a bullet in his back, and the “Good” citizens of Colorado Springs would swear on a stack of Bibles that they personally witnessed it as a suicide. The prevailing talking point on Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa is that he’s a “good man.” So is his son the Crown Prince, apparently both “good men,” which stands at odds with the ongoing murderous repression of their fiefdom’s pro-Democracy demonstrators and the doctors trying to save them. How genteel an argument, to dismiss reports of massacres, arrests and beatings out of hand, because their reality would simply be too out of character to be believed. Media spokesman for the proto-Saudis and their Western Boyars assure viewers the news is inherently inconsistent with the much-self-beloved royals. How does that square with the sudden calculated move to tear down the monument at the center of the Pearl Roundabout which had become the iconic symbol of Bahrain’s popular uprising and its resilient demonstrators? Oh the sculpture resembled less political symbolism than cake decoration, the usual garish erection by born-in-a-tent nouveau riche. But what are we to conclude was the king’s benevolent motive? A sudden aesthetic enlightenment” I would advise the self-bolstered monarch to fell every structure in Bahrain from which his subjects might be able to string a noose.
