LongmontCitizens– Joe Hill Festival with John McCutcheon and Elena Klaver

Joe Hill was a folk singer, on par with Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie, and an IWW organizer. He was framed for murder, a murder proven to be committed by another man. And executed by Judicial Lynching firing squad in Salt Lake City in 1915. Many Right Wingers say we shouldn't focus on such things, if somebody is convicted, so they say, there's no longer any chance of his innocence. (m)Ann Coulter and local Wicked Bitch of the West Michelle Malkintent object to people bringing up all the times Justice was thwarted by a hangmans rope, an electric chair, firing squad, gas chamber or needle. They say they're tired of hearing about Joe Hill and about Saccho and Vanzetti. Therefore everybody else is tired of hearing about it. Screw them. Not literally of course. They want people to forget so they'll have an easier time in the next round of Court Sanctioned Murders. I think they just like the thought of other people dying. There's a song that goes with it, Pete and Woody and Joan Baez and just every folk singer in existence has recorded it, lyrics are: 26712

Woody Guthrie at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade!

Actually, his son Arlo. Now, usually on Thanksgiving we hear Arlo's "Alices Restaurant". Which is a good song sung for a good cause, the Alices Restaurant Anti-Massacre Movement. Unlike a parade at which he sang the song in 1968, in Chicago, and a parade in Colorado Springs where the music was all militaristic, even the Al Khaly Shrine band playing God Save the Queen, the British National Anthem at a St Paddies' parade, with Royal Marines marching in the band, where neither Arlo, his most excellent music or really any radical ideals were expressed, (save for the Military theme of "We get to go to exotic lands, meet interesting people, and kill them in order to take those exotic lands") The Macy's Parade wasn't interrupted by Uniformed Thugs beating up Americans for daring to say that peace is better than murdering people. And his song at the Macy's parade? One of his fathers songs. "This land is made for you and me" which Right Wing Media Lunatic Beck makes a huge Hysterical Anti-Leftist Spasm about, because the song expresses a Communist principle that the land does NOT belong exclusively to the Wealthy. Especially since every square inch of what is now defined as

I guess they couldn’t pass the physical…

Gratuitous plug for Endless War by the Country Music Awards just a couple of minutes ago. Something about "Wounded Warrior" being always in their hearts. Yeah, right. It's one thing for burnt out AlterKokkers like Ted Nugent and Merle Haggard getting up on stage and telling people that if they were only 50 years younger they'd go in the Army in a heartbeat and offering to have their bodyguards beat up anybody who questions their stupid shit. When 20-somethings, under-40 somethings who haven't pickled their feeble brains and could easily get in even if they have to take a waiver on the physical, moral or psychological parts, that's just STUPID and they should realize that no amount of chanting "9-11! 9-11!" or similar WEAK-ASS bullshit will make people think they really did wish they could go. John Wayne- "gee, I wish I could have gone over there and kicked Hitler's Ass or Tojo's Ass but couldn't pass the physical But the most highly decorated American of WW2, Audie Murphy, was too short not only for the draft but also for enlisting. Very famous case and all the John Wayne supporters who want to back up the lies of their big "brave hero" can
