The Portland ME newspooper apologized to 9/11 families for publishing a story about Eid, the end of the holy month Ramadan. Which occurred this year on September 10th. The next time it will occur on September 10th is 28 years from now.
Because, you see, there’s a difference between Gregorian (Church) calendars, Julian (Roman) calendars and Lunar Calendars, such as the ones used by Judaism and Islam. As in Jewish calendars, Muslim ceremonies occur on a Lunar Event, like the first full moon or first new moon (dark of the moon) after an equinox or solstice. What does that mean for us? How about April 19th.
Sometimes it falls on Easter, other times Seder, according to the cycles of Earth orbits Sun /slash/ Moon orbits earth. Insert Leap year because that pesky ol’ Earth orbit doesn’t happen in exactly 365 days. So, what happens when Easter or Good Friday occurs on April 19th, the anniversary of the Oklahoma City bombing? The one that was done by “Christian” warriors. Will it be trumpeted or, worse yet, apologized by the press as “Christian Triumphalism” and marked by Bible Burnings (more like, Cross Burnings), or “Gee, we’re really sorry to offend the OKC bombing victims by publishing news reports of celebrations of a Christian or Judaic holiday”?
And it begs the question, directed toward the Portland Herald Press, “Is you completely lost yo’ MIND?”
I swear somebody might have actually done it, put LSD in the American Water Supply. More likely all the toxic waste from the Money-Grubbing the First Church of Capitalism promotes.
And they still have to apologize for Newt Gingrich and a slew of TV and Radio Preachers, Hell-e-vangelists and Hate Speech Morons like Beck, Limbaugh and Palin, saying that the World Trade Center was a Holy Temple for Christians
