Robertson’s “excuse”

By the way he “apologized” for other people “taking it wrong”.
Let’s see how that works out in Real English “I hate you for the color of your skin but I apologize for you not liking it”.

On today’s The 700 Club, during a segment about the devastation, suffering and humanitarian effort that is needed in Haiti, Dr. Robertson also spoke about Haiti’s history. His comments were based on the widely-discussed 1791 slave rebellion led by Boukman Dutty at Bois Caiman, where the slaves allegedly made a famous pact with the devil in exchange for victory over the French.

This history, combined with the horrible state of the country, has led countless scholars and religious figures over the centuries to believe the country is cursed. Dr. Robertson never stated that the earthquake was God’s wrath.

“Countless scholars” meaning, of course, that nobody’s counting.
“Widely discussed” meaning, at Klan rallies, perhaps.

In different locations. Far away from each other. I thought I had heard ALL the hate speech. I have travelled through the Vast Herd of Buffoons.

Dr. Robertson never stated that the earthquake was God’s wrath.

Of course not. He merely said that God hated them and that He sent the Earthquake because He hated them. Not mad at them, just dislikes them enough to kill them.

Glad you guys cleared that up. Freaks.

Gratuitous addition, this one HAD fallen on mine ears during the 5 decades of my pilgrimage in this Vale of Tears.

now, them Mixcans say they’re part Injun, but they’re lyin’. Whut happent wuz they come up north here and stoled our Nigras and took ’em south and mixed with ’em. That’s why they’re called MIXCANS.

People believe that. Widely enough. Been saying it for a while. In church settings too so I guess that makes it “religious figures” and in school settings so that means “scholars”. Sort of.

It’s not one whit less cultivated, sophisticated or accurate than the “sold their souls to get rid of the French” bullshit.

“doctor” Robertson’s remarks were every bit as racist and ignorant, two words that go together well sont deux mots je sais qui vont tres bien ensemble, tres bien ensemble
