The Governors of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida…

Are taking sides with the Oil industry above all others. What a surprise.
The Oil companies can afford to eat the loss from a moratorium. Far better than WE can afford to eat oil. If they’re so damned worried about “their” workers they should have compensated them better, provided them with better workplace safety and had a contingency plan for disasters. As it stands now, they’ve been taking the Corporate Welfare and putting it into the pockets of their major shareholders and their political servants. If they’re worried about the lost wages of “their” workers, dip into some of that Corporate Welfare money and compensate “their” workers. Unless and until they do, they have no business bitching about anything.
We, The People have been subsidizing the destruction of the water WE drink, OUR air, OUR food, for far too long and it’s time the Corporate BigPigs put something back. The 5% at the top of the income scale, the Parasite Class, have more money than ALL the Working Class have combined.

    The Do-Nothing 44th President
    by David Michael Green

What do nine dead Gaza activists in the Mediterranean, nine-plus percent unemployment, and ninety years of oil catastrophe clean-up have in common?

How about one astonishingly tepid president?

How about one guy in the White House who squirms in his chair anytime someone uses the word “bold” and actually means it?

How about one dude in the Oval Office who seems much more interested in making deals to determine who should be the Democratic candidates for various state offices than in actually solving national problems?

We could hardly have a president more ill-suited to our time if we were to dig up Herbert Hoover and prop his weary bones up on the presidential throne.

Jonah, are you going to take that lying down? Here is a guy that is comparing ‘Mr Obama, your American Idol, to Herbert Hoover! Can you imagine? …lol…

Since most of the people who oppose Obama oppose not merely him, or the Democratic Party, but Democracy itself, I feel it really safe to assume A Few Things.

Couple in that the vast majority of THAT lot are engaged in a Faux Revolution, bought and paid for by the same corporations who are paying pundits to scream on the Left that Mr Obama is doing NOTHING and scream on the Right that he’s exercising Dictatorial Powers and saying he’s the AntiChrist. They’re also the ones who went after ACORN and the SEIU and the ACLU and AFL/CIO and other True Grass Roots organizations for organizing vote drives, because apparently (ok, OBVIOUSLY) The Corporate WhoreMasters don’t want even a show of Democracy, they want unqualified obeisance and unquestioning obedience. The “tell” in their narratives, either Left or Right, is the use of extremist terms. He’s either a Bolshevik or a Nazi, a Corporate Slave or an Anti-Corporate Eco-Terrorist, a Closet Muslim or An Insane Aggressor out to wipe Islam from the planet. NEVER err Very Seldom any moderate terms. ALWAYS errr “usually” Exclusive Terms. Never instead of Seldom, Always instead of usually, mostly or commonly.

The Faux Revolutionaries in the TeaBag movement, share some really striking similarities to the Faux Revolucionarios in Honduras and Iran, all three groups sponsored financially by the governments of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. The governors and the legislators from all five of those states, the Governors are universally and the Legislators mostly in the pockets of the Oil Industry.

They’re screaming loudly now because at least to them it’s obvious that Mr Obama or, worse (to them) a substantial part of the 70 MILLION Americans who voted against Their Regime are opposed to yet another cave-in to the Oil Industry.

Their Boot-licking subservience to the Oil Corporations is more than just legendary, it’s an established Truth to last the ages. I didn’t bring Mr Obama into the original article. Nor the Fact that all five governors are members of the Republican Party.

It’s fairly obvious that the Republican National Corporate Committee are for some reason very very afraid of those 70 MILLION voters. Probably has nothing to do with the Votes, but the people behind the votes.

Hence their funding of the Astroturf Roots TeaBags.

It isn’t a question of Mr Obama v Oil Corporations. It’s a matter of 70 MILLION Americans and probably a lot more who are against their Corporate Overlords.

Even before the Great Blowout/spill the Oil and Coal companies were spending billions of dollars, hundreds of dollars per voter, to manipulate the Democratic Process with “Call your Senator” campaigns to make it where there would be even LESS regulation and less of the Oil Corporations actually paying a measurable fraction of their Corporate Welfare back in Taxes.

They’re taking the matter of those Seventy Million People very seriously and showing it through their pocketbooks.

So, are we REALLY on the wrong track? By the way, that’s a hunting term that predates the Railroad Term by millennia. Being on the Right Track meant tracking something that you can eat, instead of something that’s most likely to return the favor.

Salazar: Close Atlantis Today or Get Out of the Way
Statement of Food & Water Watch Executive Director Wenonah Hauter

WASHINGTON – June 14 – “The first official response to Food & Water Watch’s request for a federal court order to halt the operation of BP’s Atlantis oil drilling facility until critical safety documents are produced paints a telling picture of how the U.S. Minerals Management Service MMS will operate under U.S. Interior Secretary Salazar’s leadership: More of the same.

“In its response last week, the MMS stated that it has the sole discretion to decide whether to shut down Atlantis, and that a court can not make it do so. It also stated that it expects the investigation into Atlantis will take three months. In reality, this is a simple examination that requires the agency to review BP’s document databases. It should take mere days, not months.

“Significantly, the response does not deny that regulations require as-built documents for subsea components, nor does it deny that that the absence of engineer-approved, as-built drawings make this rig unsafe and a threat to the Gulf.

“Furthermore, the response admits that here has been no meaningful investigation in over a year since they were first notified of safety deficiencies.

“The agency is simply dragging its feet.

“Their inability to close a rig that is operating without any evidence of safety, especially in light of the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe, has led us to conclude that Secretary Salazar is serving oil interests, not the public interest. The MMS will not be substantively different under his leadership than under his predecessor in the Bush administration, despite heavy handed rhetoric to the contrary.”

“President Obama should demand his resignation and find someone who will regulate the industry-starting with the shut-in of Atlantis until it is proven to operate safely.”

“Despair, give up, there’s no way anybody can accomplish anything, just hurry up and either die, or pick up your cotton-sack and get your ass back out in the field, or grab your pick and shovel and head down that mine shaft. Hope is for Stupid People, Despair is the only real future. Why bother even getting up in the morning? There is a lion in the streets, I can do nothing”

That last one is from a proverb of Solomon. I believe, since nobody has told me anything differently and I just DON’T do personal investigations on friends, that you still work in health care. Do you tell patients to just go home and die because there’s no Hope? No? (I don’t believe you would, ever, by the way) Yet you insist that there’s No Way Possible for 70 MILLION people to accomplish anything, anytime anywhere.

In a Military organization that’s called Psychological Warfare when “our” troops do it, or “propaganda” when the arbitrarily assigned Enemy-du-jour does it.

If you really believe that 70 MILLION people can’t effect a change, then why exactly would you pretend that you stand against war, enforced poverty or any other form of injustice?

Happiness, hope and optimism aren’t classified as mental illnesses despite Dr Tony, World Famous Psychoanalyst, insisting otherwise. They’re not even classified as SYMPTOMS of Mental Illness.

Despair, on the other hand, IS. You know from your career experience that injecting patients with despair would be just as lethal as injecting them with 7 or 8 grams of pure morphine would be. Only the morphine would be more merciful.

Mock optimism all you wish. I woud add “if it makes you feel better” but it quite obviously doesn’t. If you can’t enjoy doing it, why the Fuck do you do it? If, by your many many words to the same effect, you or I or Eric can’t accomplish anything, then why bother to even say it?

You’re sounding increasingly like Edgar Allen Poe under the influence of phenobarbitol and Country Music. Or Gothica.
What’s next, are you going to be walking around dressed like the Addams Family, dark makeup under your eyes, a practiced somber stare and “Hate Everything” tattooed on your forehead?

This is the second time I’m inserting religion into this reply, but For the love of God, Montressor! (also re-inserting Mr Poe) Get happy man! Rediscover happiness, I know you’ve had some before and will again, otherwise you wouldn’t have made it as long as you did in this world.

Many believe that there is no Heaven, no eternal reward, so there’s no hope for AFTER we leave this Vale of Tears. Then the bastards turn right around and say there’s no hope for us (meaning: Themselves) Within this Vale of Tears either.

“Despair, all is lost, Hope is for Suckers”.

    Sker-roo that noise, bubba.

I just wondered if you thought that Food & Water Watch, a nonprofit consumer organization that works to ensure clean water and safe food, are those people that you say ‘oppose Democracy Itself’, Jonah? I mean they are attacking Ken Salazar and in your strange book that must be ‘Opposing Democracy Itself’. You just said they would almost have to be, didn’t you?
