Militarism as preached to the recruits is that the Army (navy air force marines same difference) is your new god. And that soldiers have no value as individuals. Throwing their lives and service training away on Corporate Wars like Afghanistan and Iraq, repeatedly telling them outrageous and transparent lies like “You’re Fighting For Freedom” or that retarded Warrior Code that says they’re on a War-path to avenge an assault on their tribe WTF? Written by Karl Rove or some similar NeverCombatant… and demanding that they believe it. That only reinforces the notion that they have no individual human value. They get their ass shot off in some far corner of the Empire, hey, no biggie. Just replace the dead or maimed soldier with another one who, for all the Army cares, exactly the same. Like a broken firing pin in a rifle. Just replace “it”.
Even their funerals are used as propaganda to try to convince the “warriors” kids to enlist and be treated exactly the same way. Which is another can of maggots, the Militarists think of even the CHILDREN as replaceable parts for their War Machine.
All of the crap about being an Honored and Respected member of the team is undermined by the basic Replacement Value. The Military even encourages drinking. Soldiers who don’t slide down to the NCO Club or the Officers Club and bend the elbow are looked upon with a suspicious eye. What, are your Comrades not that important to you, you don’t want to join them in a little bit of voluntarily induced chemical brain damage?
The same marketing/advertising/proselytizing/religious cult scheme was used very efficiently in World War 2 and even in the Vietnam-era constant non-wars. The Army issued you cigarettes in your C-rations, in the same packet with your salt, pepper and toilet paper. “donated” by the Tobacco Industry in a very effective ploy to get a whole generation (several in fact) hooked on the most addictive drug known to mankind.
And it’s this very treatment, that the soldier is treated as replaceable, expendable, and at best nothing more than a future Consumer, this attitude… If you keep reinforcing the notion that the kids (they recruit them from High School, as soon as they get out of school they’re expected to be Cannon Fodder) have no value as Humans, that they’re worthless, and soon they’ll start to believe it.
It takes a lot of brainwashing to make a normal human dispose of his life. But what, then, exactly IS the Army training, if not to convince the Soldiers to obey orders, especially stupid orders, without question and even to the point of death? You have to brainwash them to the point that their lives are so unimportant to them that they would throw them away simply because they’re told to do so.
They say “We have to use this level of organization and training, otherwise we couldn’t fight Wars” excuse me?
Help me out here, I’m not seeing an actual downside to that scenario.
Hey Jonah….I know that this off the subject but I want to show you a copy of what City Councilman Bernie Herpin has emailed to me.

You know, Ed, if you had half the sense God gave a turnip, you’d understand how the city budget works. We can only spend what we take in. When it comes to fire and police vs. night and weekend bus service, we had to chose public safety. There is no money for transit. We cut just about every service in the s=city to balance the budget as require by law. This was a difficult decision, but there was just no other option. Of course, you refuse to understand that. I don’t care how many inane videos you make and how false they are, it isn’t going to change the law.
You’d do better using your time to work for an independent transit district and try to get the voters to properly fund transit. All you ranting, raving, lying, and misstating of facts isn’t going to increase the tax revenue to the city. Why don’t you stop sitting around in your underwear in your mother’s basement and get to work help those who are looking for solutions to the transit problem? Oh wait, that would mean you’d have to actually do some work.
Keep it up, Ed, and see how much you have changed the minds of anyone who is truly interested in finding solutions.
Sincerely,
Bernie Herpin

Yeah, I suppose the idea of cutting subsidies to his Real Estate comrades like whatever the City-County contributions to the 24 West project would be completely out of line. State government needs to cut that turkey loose too.
Spending however many hundreds of thousands of dollars on those goofy signs that “There’s only ONE Downtown, maybe you didn’t notice that you’re actually in it”. Those kind of signs cost mucho bread and they change them around a lot. Them growing a set between them and telling the voters that there has to be a tax hike, way out of line. Not Happening. Instead, to appease the richest they’re cutting out the poorest.
Maybe if they charged an actual fee for on-street parking, because there sure is a shitload of it.
They’re ensuring that the city is going to spend MORE money in the long run and even in the short run by actually encouraging that kind of wasteful behavior and actively discouraging conservation. And they have enough percentage of a nut between them to make the outrageous claim that they’re “conservatives”.
Somebody already co-opted my nickname on Youtube too. So I have to pull up a new name that’s close enough that people can find me when I publish stuff.
The Richest people in town want a “workforce” instead of workers. That kind of ties it back to the Semantic Nonsense the Militarists use on the soldiers.
The Rich want cheap labor, and the workers to be educated and mobile enough to get to the jobs, do the jobs and go home, but don’t want to pay for it. Herpin goddamn knows it too. They bought him and the rest of Council to help keep the workers down. Surely they must tell him a few things while putting extra money into his pockets.
The rich could have kicked in and started working toward restoring the better parts of America but they decided to keep the Greed parts instead. When America collapses, due to their greed, they’ll feel it the most.
Meanwhile they try to spin the TeaBags and similar Racist Groups into believing they can make all those Scary Negroes, mixcans, Asians, and Poor people in general Go Away and only come out when they’re needed for work or as soldiers. Spinning the mythology assigned after the fact to Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. Without the ugly parts about slavery and enforced ignorance and entrenched violence. Anti-American violence. Get the Dumb Loud Ones to bark at that particular phantom while they steal what’s left of the National Treasury.
Every day I listen to that Bob Dylan song “How Does It Feel?” as the mighty are falling. Our Council seem to think they’re immune to that as long as they suck up to the most powerful…

Like your site – saw this article. I filed an EEO complaint against the three top Generals over Army Recruiting last Friday: General Martin Dempsey, TRADOC; LG Benjamin Freakley, U.S. Army Accessions Command; MG Donald Campbell, Jr., U.S. Army Recruiting Command. Not only do they churn and burn soldiers and families, they do the same to loyal federal civil servants who have the misfortune to step into their lair. I was fired in Feb 2010 for whistleblowing and resisting illegal discrimination. I am over grieving for my lost innocence after confronting this dishonorable propaganda machine. Did you know LT General Freakley paid Stewart-Haas Racing $11.6 million to sponsor NASCAR Ryan Newman’s car for 23 races this season? To advertise Army Recruiting? At USAREC they don’t even have the basic policies in place to protect employees injured on the job, and many more policies to protect the very employees they are burning out. Not even a band-aid. I intervened on Recruiter suicides as well. Sick. If I can ever be of assistance, let me know.
