Per wikipedia, Occupy Nigeria is a protest movement that began in Nigeria on Monday, 2 January 2012 in response to the fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government of President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday, 1 January 2012.
I believe that Occupy Nigeria actually began much sooner than this, but certainly the issue of the government more than doubling the price of gasoline in Nigeria was the moment that Nigerians began in mass to use Occupy as their vehicle to defend themselves from the thefts of the rich. Here is Famed author Chinua Achebe on the Occupy Nigeria strikes …Achebe possibly is sub Sahara Africa’s most world famous author. The fact that he too supports Occupy Nigeria’s protests in his own country is definitely notable.
