Tibetan suicides versus Indian suicides as reported by US corporate-run press; and then there is Greece, too

By now, most Americans have heard about those young Tibetan Buddhist monks committing suicide as protest against the Chinese control over their region. Tibetan Buddhist monks control the country of Bhutan but they also want control over the areas of Chinese Tibet as well. But how many Americans know about the suicides of farmers in capitalist India over the last dozen are so years? Very few I would wager a bet….

Interesting, is it not? The corporate US press can frame the Tibetan monk story as one of being a heroic stuggle against evil Chinese Communists, though China hardly can be called a ‘communist country’ at this point, with all that US backed capitalism there now firmly underway. But just what is the story of the suicides in India that most Americans have missed hearing about, though the story is now getting quite old? Check here to find out- Report sought on India farm suicides and discover that 200,000 Indian farmers have committed suicide in the last 15 years! Isn’t capitalism grand?!!!!! Think God we have a paid for press…uh.. I meant a ‘free press’, as the mega corporations call it here in the US of A. They keep us so NOT INFORMED!

But there is also a new story about suicides from Greece this last week. Heard about that case? Here following are the last words left behind by the 77 yr. old Greek retiree as he took his own life…

‘This traitorous occupation government literally annihilated my
ability to survive — which had been based on a decent pension, for
which I had paid into (without any government help) for 35 years.

I am of an age that prevents me from offering a decent individual
response (without of course ruling out the possibility of being the second person to take arms, should one person decide to do so).

I find no solution other than a dignified end, before resorting to
going through garbage in order to cover my nutritional needs.

One day, I believe, the youth with no future will take up arms and
hang the national traitors at Syntagma square, just like the Italians did with Mussolini in 1945 (at Milan’s Piazzale Loreto).’

–Dimitris Christoulas, Syntagma, Athens, April 4th, 2012

Nice… Here is yet more about Dimitrus… Police violently break up protests following suicide in Athens But what about those other suicides in India, too? Apparently some suicides are worth more to the corporate US press to report about than others are… Go figure? We live in a capitalist world with disposable people per the 1%.
