Save Darfur was an Oil Play

I remember when you couldn't throw a stick without hitting someone who didn't want to SAVE DARFUR. And boy did they need hitting with a stick. All those high school and college students activated by OBAMA 08 lined up to add Darfur to their extracurriculars. Why? The usual manipulative pictures and imperialist propaganda. Sudanese refugees needed saving. Bleeding Hearts' Burden. George Clooney was showered with activist laurels for playing Hollywood's ambassador to Darfur. Soon enough pacifists were calling for military intervention, a "no-fly zone" but enforced with force. Denied, the US provided the military intervention covertly, and ultimately the southern fossil fuel rich portion of Sudan was lopped off for the multinational profiteers.

This rock could change the world if thrown through the right window

By "power the world" does Time Magazine mean HEAT IT?! To a rolling boil? --How incredibly inane. This piece of rock's jagged asymmetry (probably to differentiate it from a lump of coal - the other fossil fuel) and its other-earthly lighting, mean to suggest shale has a meteoric value. The disingenuous cover story, "why shale can solve the energy crisis", is a curve ball pretending the problem is supply not demand, and FRACKING is the hero not the terminator. Let's throw this projectile back like we would ordinary crowd control ordnance deployed to disorient waking masses. I think it's fitting that Time has given its cover to a rock. In the hands of children it's the bane of US and Israeli occupiers, it's what defended Tahrir Square, and it will probably be the only sidearm we'll be left to bear as our own occupiers try to forestall global revolution. But it's enough.

Remember the Maine, the Alamo, Pearl Harbor or the day they found WMDs in Iraq?

I remember the day they pretended to have found WMDs. On CNN and FOX there were were reports that an oil refinery outside Baghdad had been liberated by U.S. Marines with WMDs inside. So they brought cameras in... embedded and therefore non-truthful reporters. A dank, dirty place. Oil refineries are like that. A huge stack of bent, rusted and otherwise unsafe 55 gallon drums. They would have been stacked that way to make the trip to the recycling plant. Nobody in his right mind would use one to store even the NORMAL toxic petrochemicals. Then about 30 barrels, unstained by the pollution, the smoke or smog or haze of burnt or vaporized oils, the soot that was caked onto every OTHER surface. Powder Blue paint on them, looked just like they had come directly from wherever they were manufactured. Not like, say, they were a decade old, hidden and moved since 1991. You might ask, "Jonah, how the Hell would you be able to tell that?" to which Jonah might well reply, "Because I worked in steel mills, solvent and glue plants, and oil refineries". They were stacked, actually. Not on pallets and lifted up by crane or forklift. No, STACKED. Fairly neatly. Something you're not going to get any manual laborers to do if they've got anything in them. A full 55 gallon drum weighs almost a quarter of a ton. And then the camera lights glanced rapidly over some black and white letters written on the sides of the drums, not a complete view but you could see that they were in English and tagged for export. Produ of the Unite   Oh my.Anything packaged for export from Iraq would have a lot of Arabic writing, maybe some Pharsi, and maybe some English but this was ALL english. Neither the U.S. nor Britain had shipped anything to Iraq in a decade. Why I remember this so clearly, because they yanked any further mention of it when a very small handful of internet users spotted it. And now, long after Bush and Blair and Brown finally said "Yeah, we faked the WMD story, so what?" an eerily similar cabal is forming to make war on Iran on reports of WMDs. And there are a lot of people willing to just throw out the ol' Hitler Salute and give the lying thieving murderous sons of whores license to lie to them some more. Maybe enough to justify the planned attack just long enough to start committing such attacks. For those whose religious reason for doing it would be to bring on the end of the world, you're really fucking stupid and you're definitely not prepared for Judgment Day.

Autism and Mercury

So they "laid that myth to rest", right? Actually, no. The entire focus of Autism in re Toxic Metals got sidetracked onto vaccines with a mercury preservative. Which, some pointed out, CONTAINED FAR LESS MERCURY THAN THE AMOUNT PRESENTLY IN ENVIRONMENTAL SOURCES and that has to be emphasized because the ENVIRONMENTAL SOURCES somehow dropped out of the equation. Chemical industry, M.I. C., anybody? Like mercury released into the environment from metals refining, or perhaps from the manufacture AND USE of ammunition? Like the mercury fulminate, which is a water-soluble mercury compound, nitrated mercury, explosive, used as a detonator/primer compound. When it burns, combusts explosively, does exactly what the product is designed to do, it kills one way quickly. Tosses a somewhat more massive chunk of metal in the general direction of a "target". Meaning, in the case of Wars and Police actions, the primary intent of firearms, A Human Being Whose Life Is Considered To Be Worth Less Than The Life Of The Person Shooting At Him/Her. When it burns that way, the mercury fulminate isn't destroyed, it's vaporized. If you took a two pound brick, broke it, smashed it, turned it into two pounds of dust, it's still two pounds of the original components of the brick. It didn't go away. If you dissolve it in water, not as completely as mercury fulminate does, it's now polluting a larger mass of water and people, other animals and plants can now ingest it. So, is the prevalence of documented Autism cases around military installations ONLY a result of more accurate reporting, more accurate testing available to Military Dependents? It WAS described that way about the Vaccines connection. It minimizes the high probability of modern firearms, concentrated in Military Bases, firing ranges etc. being a cause. Just like the "higher reporting and diagnosis level" was put forth about military dependents and the use of Vaccines. Also in ammunition are other metals, copper and lead being significant. Would YOU willingly drink water with copper sulfate dissolved into it? Seriously, would you? Before you answer consider this information about the use of Copper Sulfate in pesticides. Military bases use shitloads of Pesticides. "Shitload" is an esoteric eco-science term which, if you don't recognize its validity you're probably not an eco-scientist. Military bases kill native vegetation, insects, mammals, birds... yeah, birds. Birds cause extreme damage to military aircraft and also are the hosts for lice and fleas which are in turn the hosts for some really deadly diseases like Leishmaniasis Donovani, caused by a flagellate paramecium that's freaking huge by germ standards, a half-micron long. So they poison the whole place. That's what Agent Orange is, a weed-killer. The part of Agent Orange that causes human deaths due to absolute devastation of the endocrine system, isn't even the active ingredient, it's a dioxin, a chemical that is produced along with the active ingredient but which they can't remove from the finished product without destroying the finished product. Can't do that, now can we? Human lives are cheaper and worth less

Iran had ‘preconditions’ for nuclear talks, Great Powers miffed..

Actually Baroness Ashton and other "diplomats" said they were "disappointed". Baroness Ashton led a delegation from France, Germany, Russia, the UK, US and China, at the two-day talks. The international team had proposed a new version of a plan to keep Iranian enrichment within civilian-grade levels by having it send uranium abroad to be processed. But Western diplomatic sources have spoken of anger and frustration over Iran's behavior at the talks. But of course... Arrogantly demanding that one's own nation be accorded the same Sovereign Rights as any other is a privilege accorded to the Great Powers. "Simply EVERYBODY knows THAT, Dah-link" So the Baroness is pissed. GOOD. The Royals got snubbed by Peasants. GOOD. Apparently, unilateral demands should only come from the Empire. Only, since World War One they've shied away from being called that. One of the reasons for the British Crown starting the war was the same with King George V as it was with Elizabeth II, Iranian oil for the Empire. And Iraqi. Only it was under Turkish control at the time, and had to be taken away from Turkish control by force of arms. Arms carried in the arms of Peasants who had to be conscripted or cajoled into doing Their Masters' bidding. So they invented a lie, of course. Happens all the time in Diplomatic Circles, as Wikileaks has recently revealed. Just like Gueen Bess 2 cheerily signing on to the BushBlairCheneyCo. lies about WMDs both in Iraq and Iran, King George V jumped at a chance to pit "his" Imperial Army against those of his cousins in a gigantic game of Risk where the pawns actually scream, bleed and die when gassed, shot or bombed. By telling the Suckers errr "Loyal Subjects Patriots that they, as subjects and property of an Emperor, were to fight Imperialism. "That small nations would have the same rights as the the Great Powers." What a crock of Lying Pig Shit. The Emperors made out like the murdering bandits they were then and still are today. The peasants filled millions of graves. Same as always.

Can you manage a World Car-Free Day?

The publishers of Car Busters have proclaimed every September 22 to be WORLD CAR-FREE DAY. Consider taking the bus, riding a bike or walking to work today. Where possible, the World Carfree Network suggests you walk in the middle of the street where the automobile-dependent will get the point. It's not your fault the MSM hasn't told everyone we have a chance today to rethink the sustainability of how to get around. Apropos to how to get people out of their cars, Vancouver scholar Patrick Condon has released a text about Design Strategies for a Post Carbon World, titled Seven Rules for Sustainable Communities, published by the University of British Columbia Press. The table of contents offers talking points enough: SEVEN RULES FOR SUSTAINABLE, LOW-CARBON COMMUNITIES 1. According to “liberal” MSM, Hayward fired for not being P.C.

Nothing at all about being incompetent. No, it was his insensitive but, according to the now-official story line, unintentionally Snotty Snobbish remarks. The Anti-politically correct squad will of course react with their usual convulsive tantrums about anybody in the entire world criticizing them for being deliberately rude and otherwise acting in an uncivilized manner. I don't have to point out the Usual Suspects, I'll just look in their general direction and smile. They would be, and anybody can make an inference to match the implication, the titty-babies who scream as though being skinned alive, without anesthesia and using a dull pair of nail clippers, about being "denied liberty" if anybody scolds them for being Socially Retarded Animated Sphincters. The ones who led the charge against MoveOn and the New York Times for the latter publishing, under the same First Amendment The T.B.s say is violated by scolding their churlishness... Publishing an advertisement in their newspaper, using editorial discretion and using managerial discretion, as in "It's OUR newspaper, why can't we charge exactly what we choose to charge for any service we choose to provide?" and gave the MoveOn people the same deal they had recently given the Bush Administration and... the person the Rival News Organization screamed so loudly about the ad criticizing, Generally Betrays-us, aka King David Petraeus. Yeah. THOSE Socially Retarded Animated Sphincter Titty Babies. I'm sure this unsavory taunting of them for their arrogance and hypocrisy will be seen as a denial of their First Amendment rights to be rude, unsocialized and uncivilized. But, you see, I'm not turning loose a squad of Police State goon-squad types to beat them down for being rude and uncivilized, now, Am I? Just a gentle tsk-tsk'ing. I'd say that raises me several level above their organizations and management style automatically.

“Clean” Coal on defensive, downplaying REAL Clean power

So they're spending a few hundred million nationwide promoting their bid for MORE unsupervised unregulated Mountaintop Removal Coal (and other minerals) Extraction, with the accompanying subsidies they'll get if WHEN the Tame Departments of Interior, Defense and Energy and the even Tamer Congress grant them the Official Clean Energy Okey-Dokey. They downplay wind and solar as not being viable ("the sun doesn't always shine and the wind doesn't always blow") AND claim that even when they're used they'll "need" to Strip Mine and destroy the environment for the metals. Which is bullshit on several levels, there's far more recyclable metals ready for harvest than can be gotten from any level of mining in the conceivable future. One Industry LIE down the tubes. With Solar and Wind producing their PEAK output at the same times of day that the PEAK demand is, there isn't actually any need to build MORE coal power plants or start new strip mines. AND the production of Wind and Solar is going up even with a tiny fraction of a percentage of the Public Subsidies that the Coal, Oil and Gas industries have enjoyed for more than a century. Almost a century and a half. The Railroad Act, the Public Utilities Act, to name a couple. Military and civil grants to develop technologies specifically to use the products they're first stealing and then selling. To their own Publicly Subsidized utility companies. And having the Military simply TAKE any coal, oil and gas that's not offered at a price the Oil and Gas and Coal companies demand. The Police State apparatus they use to keep the Workers doing what Workers do and Corporate Leeches DON'T (which is, say it with me class: Actual WORK) by suppressing Unions and other private organizations, and also suppressing any Public Regulation of their own Workplace Safety and Environmental Protection. The Mountaintop Removal mining which they also claim is safe and doesn't affect anybody downstream has been proven wrong so many times it's hardly worth mentioning, but the "Clean" Coal companies keep consistently LYING about it that it has to be mentioned. The Male small-mouth bass turning into Female small-mouth bass downstream from their "safe and clean" mountaintop removal operations is just one example. The Mining Company TOXIC "gold hill mesa" Waste Dump here in Colorado Springs and is being sold as a "Traditional Colorado Springs Community" yeah, right, if you count the many times the mining industry has poisoned this area of Colorado and everyplace downstream from it... sure, that's a "Tradition" that the Mining Corporations and their Real Estate Accomplices have long practiced. Another prime example of how "safe" their industry is to the people who, unlike the Corporate Executives, don't make money off them poisoning us. BUT... the fact that they're running these ads and the very nature of these ads means they've got a chance of LOSING their fat Government Subsidies and they Know It. That's another project for the TeaBags, too, Stop Sucking up to the Energy Corporations and start

BP, Meet Agatha

As in, the first named storm of the season. So far, 12 killed in Guatemala. Oh, and we were duly informed that the Top Kill maneuver failed. If it's any consolation to us they didn't wait two weeks to tell us that. A bit of further consolation, such as it is, this poisoning of the ocean has the potential to end America's involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. NATO as a whole, too, because the rest of the NATO countries are facing budget crisis and crises, the first shared and the second individual, country by country case by case. The core of it isn't socialized medicine or public welfare programs. The core of it is NATO itself, with the NATO mission of buying more expensive equipment, hiring more soldiers and not fighting one single God-Damn war that isn't strictly for the benefit of the Wealthiest individuals on the planet. No wars of Defense, no wars for Freedom, or Nation Building, all that is window dressing, sham, frosting on a cake that's baked from the mortal remains of the Imperialist Manifesto. A manifesto that's written in not one document, nor book... but the death records of hundreds of millions of people, civilian, military, or militant, the ones described in 1916 as "The Great Fallen". The Great Fallen was made a slogan to memorialize one particular battle, that was neither at the beginning nor the end of the Imperial Meat Grinder. It counts only those fallen by gunfire in pitched battle. Not those killed by the plagues unleashed, one after another, the famines, also known as "Recessions, Depressions" and (my personal favorite, that used by the richest themselves) "Bubbles and Adjustments." Oh, the market is going through one of it's periodic correction cycles. That's great news for those who have vast wealth, but for the people who put that vast wealth in their pockets, it's a tragedy reduced to numbers and statistics. Now, we come to a point in history where there's a perfect storm. An economy that's been kicked out from under the entire world, the ecology that underpinned it so mangled and twisted it would be unrecognizable to Audubon, the greedy quest for More Money has now trashed one of the last places on Earth that HAD a chance to be redeemed. Those who 6 weeks ago were screaming that the new restrictions to try to save that very niche of the environment would "put an end to sport fishing in the gulf"... and condemning every member of the government who even dared to use the words Environmental or Ecology in policy statements, no similar level of vilification for Their Corporate Masters now that their Corporate Masters have blown off not just sport fishing, but Commercial Fishing, and in a not surprising outcome, might kill or alter the balance of algae in the ocean that produces oxygen. Oxygen which is an anti-greenhouse gas. People who breathe regularly might recognize the term Oxygen as well. Less Oxygen, perhaps more Methane from the decaying remains of

BBC Headline: BP to decide

BP to make decision on 'top kill' plan to stem oil leak uhh... Yeah. Like they're in a position to dictate terms. If they really ARE in a position to dictate terms then we, the people of the world, are well and truly screwed. (I was going to say "fucked" but then that would be potty mouth) I realize that "The Crown" has a large investment in BP as well as the BBC. They also have a large investment in the continuing occupation and attempted subjugation of Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Gaza and coming soon to a War Theatre near you, Iran. The term "calling the shots" almost applies, it's really an artillery term for the person who looks to see where the shells have hit and tells the cannoneers, essentially firing blind from their perspective (deaf, too) to adjust the angles of the gun-barrels to hit the targets more precisely. The "targets" being "Human Beings" a point that I compel myself to make at every opportunity. But who gets to "call the shots"? Either side could logically use "OUR Troops" as pawns in this as easily as they use them as Pawns in the War. Which, incidentally, is being fought on behalf of (mostly) the Oil Industry. It wouldn't bother me overmuch if the Emissaries of The Crown (Queen Bess2, speaking on behalf of British subjects) get all huffy and threaten to pull their part of NATO out of the Occupation. Not that they would do it any more than the behind-the-curtain puppetmasters in Washing Tundy Sea would. Plugging the hole is what needed to be done no later than a month and a half ago, before the well blew up. BP has been allowed to muck about pretending to try to stop the Killer Well but on their terms, which simply were that they would keep the bastard in production. Screw that. They need to call it a loss. The U.S. government needs to tell them "NO" to several issues, and never mind the Killer Wails that will come up from the mouths of the British and from the BP supporters here in America. No, you can't salvage the production of the well. No, you can't drill there again, ever. No, you can't keep your OTHER poison dispensaries working in OUR waters, the waters that really support the entire life-support Ecosystem of the planet, thus belong to Every Son or Daughter of Adam on the face of Earth. You no likey, we no givey damn you no likey. They've already got the Corporate Suck Morons in the Tea Party movement and their sponsors and organizers at Fox News uptight about raising the arbitrary cap on liabilities given to corporations. "Yes, we can do trillions of dollars worth of damage but our liability is limited at less than a tenth of a percent of that" $750 million, was it, or did I mentally add a digit? Either way it's obscenity. This arrogant attitude BP and The Crown are assuming is like a declaration of war. Not against

11 more miners killed, 64 still missing

That might not include the 20 in the rescue party with whom contact was lost. A second explosion has now been reported at the Raspadskaya mine near Mezhdurechensk, and contact has been lost with a team of 20 rescuers. Mezhdurechensk, bet you can't say that three times real fast. The governor of Kemerovo, Aman Tuleyev, has taken charge of the rescue operation. "The rescue work will continue when the atmosphere in the mine is restored, but to conduct rescue work now means to send people to their death," he said. Emergency teams are now trying to pump air into the underground shafts. Mines in the region are noted for their poor safety record, not surprising as Capital has reared its ugly head in Russia, kept the KGB and assumed the very Worst parts of Capitalism... oh.. that's right, there aren't any GOOD parts to it. Remembering that it was the underpinning (and eventual downfall) for the Roman Empire. And the Mafia. The system is admirably well represented by the prestigious Wall Street Law Firm of Boyd, Dewey, Cheatham and Howe. Bets on the major shareholders having a lot in common with the major shareholders of BP and Massey Energy? Say, I wonder what the statistics on percentage or raw numbers of employees in the Solar Panel Manufacturing killed or maimed on the job would be? Since Einstein's invention of the basic principle took place when the Internal Combustion Engine and the Turbine Generator were still relatively new inventions. Guess which ones were subsidized in every way possible, from government contracts for the products to outright grants of Free Land that just by a coincidence belong to Other Nations and had to be secured and maintained at Lots of Gunpoint.

Military Intelligence Inaction

The Coast Guard is going to set fire to the oil slick from the Deepwater corporate boo-boo. Deliberately. You know, the Coast Guard DO get first pick of the finest confiscated Recreational Psychopharmaceuticals. While their official Irrationale is that they've screwed up the ecosystem so badly that this little bonfire will be just another Fart In The Breeze, so to speak, the Unofficial Reason probably works out to be something like "Wow, man, far out, the colors, man, the colors!" Speaking of colors, about the only thing "green" about the military is their uniforms. Maybe Glenn Beck and the other Morons at Fox will have a new conspiracy theory to work with,as soon as they get their monthly quota of that Coast Guard dope, that is. See, Liberal Agents Provocateurs have infiltrated not only the top levels of the Political spectrum but also the Banking, Mining and Petroleum industry and are deliberately sabotaging them from the top down, and that somehow Greenpeace and MoveOn and PETA and just for giggles the American Cancer Society have deliberately gotten Goldman Sachs and Massey and Deepwater to make really stupid forking decisions, just to embarrass the "conservatives". Let's go forward with that, let's say that Al Gore deliberately set up George Bush by throwing the election in 2000. The possible combinations are endless. Pointless, too, but then, we're watching Capital eat itself so any inane statement about it would stick if thrown hard enough.

Happy Earth day, to us!

Four decades in the making, and at the FIRST Earth Day suggestions were made to stop destroying Earth. Which, since any habitable Other Planet is decades in the future, and Earth happens to be our ONLY life support mechanism until then, and the destruction could kill Earth long before then... At the First Earth Day, Public Transportation was touted. Since then, the SUV has taken over the roads, the roads have been expanded, still not enogh to satiate the Single Passenger Car Monster. The Oil and Coal industry fight very hard against public transportation, call it "socialism". There's a growing industry in Solar Power, which the Oil and Coal industries, and the automakers, sick their TeaBag attack dogs on any possibility of Government assistance in the advancement of the technology. While and at the time lining up every budget cycle, or as they call it "Feeding Time", sticking their fat corporate snouts in the Welfare Trough. Disposable packaging was a newer technology, only a few decades old. Now that has mushroomed, (mushroom is a good image, it's the fruiting carpophore of Mold, if you will: the Flower of Decay) as have Disposable Everything. Earth might have given herself a gift in the form of increased vulcanism. Since "our" political leaders can't pull themselves away from the Corporate Welfare Trough or grow any kind of Spinal Fortitude to stop the Oil and Automobile and Disposable Toxins industries from killing our planet, at least it will slow down Global Warming. Maybe long enough for them to get their fat porky Collective Arse in gear. Mama Nature is doing for us what we should have been not-too-damn-greedy to do for ourselves. Not being a killjoy, I hope, We do need to inject a LOT of righteous anger into the discussions today. Not Aggressive Violent Whiny Tantrums like the Tea-Bags throw, but a similar level of energy. Remind the "conservatives" that the root of their name is "conserve". Not, you know, wasting everything in a hedonistic orgy of greed. The ecology is the very root of our economy.

“Energy (oil) ministers say 23 Trillion in investment needed” according to AP

--to find new sources of Oil and natural gas, of course. Strangely, that's about what my estimate of the cost of the recent 8 years worth of Federal Giveaways to the Oil Corporations would total. So, do the Oil Corporations REALLY need Welfare from all the governments of the world? Where would that much-ballihooed "Free Market" supremacy account for such a huge bailout to what's supposedly the single most profitable industry of the past century? To be honest, I didn't read past that shocking headline. I just DON'T need to ruin my day reading veiled threats (almost typo-ed "vealed" as in Fatted Calf) from the richest people on the planet about what will happen if they're not given the rest of the Planetary Treasury, the fealty of every son of Adam and a lien on the souls and service of our children for generations to come.

Karl Rove admits error in Iraq strategy

ERROR? wtf? Since when, exactly, does a long string of bald-faced Lies work out as being mistakes? Saying something is orange when it's actually red is a "mistake". Losing count of how many beers you drank before getting behind the wheel is a "mistake". Voting for Bush once would be a "mistake" and twice would be unspeakable stupidity, (or Complicity).   Underestimating the strength of the will of Human Beings to not be conquered, murdered and robbed might be a very large and stupid mistake, but once it's been pointed out that it never works and has historically FAILED every damn time, then it becomes Sheer Arrogance to push on with it. Not a "mistake". After being warned, calling everybody who warned you "Traitors, Idiots, Moonbats, Bleeding Hearts, Deluded, Crazy, Terrorist Sympathizers" and so forth, then having your collective nose rubbed in the big steaming pile of your own "mistake"... and then pushing on... that's not a "mistake". That's, in the case of sending Americans to kill and die for your money and your arrogance, Treason. And Murder. Thousands of counts of Capital Murder just for the American Soldiers, made airtight Capital Murder by the Patriot Act and several Executive Orders that Karl Rove wrote. Any one count of a serviceman murdered by their treasonous actions would get the entire Bush Administration including Rove and their Ministry of Propaganda Fox News HANGED. Much as I'm opposed to Capital Punishment, I believe I'd buy tickets to the event. Then there are the murders of Iraqi and Afghan and Somali and Sudanese and Pakistani and Uighur and Filipino and the list goes on Civilians and Prisoners of War, Each one of them an act of Capital Murder by reason of it being Terrorism. And again, through the definitions provided by Rove and Jeb Bush and Condi Rice and their fellow PNAC Imperialists. Which one would be a Mistake?

Your limbs for oil: the crude reality

Spotted at a rally: CRUDE REALITY.   It's the NO BLOOD FOR OIL message, brought home for the children raised on bloodless TV violence. What's blood anymore? You offer it to vampires, you can get more at a bank. Missing appendages, that's visual.   I'm still working on a poster, featuring a closeup of an artificial ankle, today made of aircraft aluminum, or is it graphite, with the bold assurance that this one is ARMY STRONG.

South Ossetia a land grab by US Georgia

The US is decrying Russian aggression in South Ossetia, a breakaway province of Georgia, itself a breakaway of the ex-Soviet states. Georgia is a US proxy and a NATO beachhead aimed toward Russia and the Middle East. South Ossetia is a critical part. Here's analysis from Global Research: War in the Caucasus: Towards a Broader Russia-US Military Confrontation? By Michel Chossudovsky, Global Research, August 10, 2008 During the night of August 7, coinciding with the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics, Georgia's president Saakashvili ordered an all-out military attack on Tskhinvali, the capital of South Ossetia. The aerial bombardments and ground attacks were largely directed against civilian targets including residential areas, hospitals and the university. The provincial capital Tskhinvali was destroyed. The attacks resulted in some 1500 civilian deaths, according to both Russian and Western sources. "The air and artillery bombardment left the provincial capital without water, food, electricity and gas. Horrified civilians crawled out of the basements into the streets as fighting eased, looking for supplies." (AP, August 9, 2008). According to reports, some 34,000 people from South Ossetia have fled to Russia. (Deseret Morning News, Salt Lake City, August 10, 2008) The importance and timing of this military operation must be carefully analyzed. It has far-reaching implications. Georgia is an outpost of US and NATO forces, on the immediate border of the Russian Federation and within proximity of the Middle East Central Asian war theater. South Ossetia is also at the crossroads of strategic oil and gas pipeline routes. Georgia does not act militarily without the assent of Washington. The Georgian head of State is a US proxy and Georgia is a de facto US protectorate. Who is behind this military agenda? What interests are being served? What is the purpose of the military operation. There is evidence that the attacks were carefully coordinated by the US military and NATO. Moscow has accused NATO of "encouraging Georgia". Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov underscored the destabilizing impacts of "foreign" military aid to Georgia: . “It all confirms our numerous warnings addressed to the international community that it is necessary to pay attention to massive arms purchasing by Georgia during several years. Now we see how these arms and Georgian special troops who had been trained by foreign specialists are used,” he said.(Moscow accuses NATO of having "encouraged Georgia" to attack South Ossetia, Russia Today, August 9, 2008) Moscow's envoy to NATO, Dmitry Rogozin, sent an official note to the representatives of all NATO member countries: “Russia has already begun consultations with the ambassadors of the NATO countries and consultations with NATO military representatives will be held tomorrow," Rogozin said. "We will caution them against continuing to further support of Saakashvili." “It is an undisguised aggression accompanied by a mass propaganda war,” he said. (See Moscow accuses NATO of having "encouraged Georgia" to attack South Ossetia, Russia Today, August 9, 2008) According to Rogozin, Georgia had initially planned to:

Time for Iraq to Pay the Bill? YHGTBFKM

The NYT editorial pages decry "Time for Iraq to Pay the Bill." Oh, really? Sign that editor up for charges, and every single US politician on that bandwagon. It was indeed part of the pitch to convince the public that America could pay for this war. Iraq reconstruction would be financed using Iraq's oil revenues. Sounds like a great business plan. Except it's robbery. In war-making terms: pillage. It must simply sting, that America expend so much money to "liberate" Iraq, to restart its oil production, to position our oil companies to collect their cut, only to see Iraq accumulate oil monies while the US public is saddled with the cost or Iraq's reconstruction. But we destroyed Iraq. It's our responsibility to rebuild. Shouldn't this go without saying? Instead our talking heads are saying it's the exact inverse. Do you suppose you could interest rapists to collect fees from their victims for services rendered? Was the sexual attention wanted or unwanted? Arguable, in a rapist's mind. It don't work that way, do it? It's the same in rape and war. The Geneva Conventions spell out the ethic for military peanut brains who need it explained. You are not permitted to finance your war with the spoils of your invasion. There are no spoils of war. That's pillage. Reconstruction-wise, Colin Powell famously put this concept in layman terms for us consumers: You break it, you fix it. You don't charge the Pottery barn for a contract to have you fix it. It's there in the laws of war. Do they teach anything in military school? In law school? The rhetorical answer is yes they do. Ergo, these jackasses, brutes, cheerleaders and their investors, are criminals. Make 'em pay for their scaffolds.

Higher food prices now being driven by higher fuel prices

We can now see the first effects of the world energy crisis, as local grocery stores are creeping their prices of basic foods upward. The dollar stores also are not exactly dollar stores these days, and never will be again. There are two reasons for these price hikes. First off, the Pentagon is doing this to us. We are throwing them money (and hence the military suppliers and contractors money, too) like it is going out of style. This is money we simply don't have, and therefore it is coming from loans to our government, who then passes it off to those that have literally bought the government. We know who eventually will get stuck with paying off these bad debts, too. It will be the working class and lower middle class of our country. And meanwhile, the rich suck at this gigantic welfare program (teat) with absolutely no shame, as they wave the American flag outside all their offices pretending to be the great patriots. The lower echelons of this fraud get 10% off! Second cause of the rising prices is simply that we have hit the crisis of declining world oil supplies head on, and nobody has any solution to it beyond trying to corner the world supply (Thank you, Dick Cheney and Dumbo Dubya). But capturing control of world petroleum supply doesn't exactly increase it, even if such a plot were to be ever successful. All in all, we still have yet to come up with an alternative to the mobility of oil transport, and we are dependent on oil, as we have been for all the later half of the industrial revolution. Some think that the solution is turning back to coal. Some think it is turning to the deadly nuclear option. Some dream of sun, hydrogen fuel cells, and wind. Meanwhile, in the real world, it is still oil that fuels civilization, uh 'civilization' as we know it. We currently have a rapacious economic system that expands constantly at nature's expense. Nature is now fed up with it, even if our family and neighbors are not. Nature is run down, and will be run out if we continue this way. Meanwhile, the prices have begun to inch up and we grow uncomfortable here at home. Elsewhere, things have grown more desperate from the start. Ahead, it is $4/ gallon prices this summer, and the sky will certainly be the limit. Oil barrel prices flown up from below $10 a barrel (not adjusted for inflation) as close back as the mid- '80s some 22 years ago, to heading towards $120 a barrel right now. It is easy to see how our dollars are now being turned to pennies and we haven't seen anything yet. There are some horrible times for the world
