Abdullah puts lives of Afghans first

Afghanistan has been shown its new leader! After a disputed election and Hamid Karzai’s refusal to address the corruption, King Obama threatened to have his troops continue cleaving the country apart until another election. This weekend challenger Abdullah Abdullah rose above Kabul’s puppet government, by demonstrating his love for Afghanistan. Rather than be a pretext for America’s continuing occupation, Abdullah has forsworn his ambitions to the presidency. Let American decision makers stew on that.

It was a brilliant move. Abdullah Abdullah takes page from King Solomon playbook, puts Afghanistan first, sooner than have Obama continue to split babies in two until another election. Obama has excused his Afghanistan indecision based on pretending to need a legitimate election result to emerge from puppets and warlords. Meanwhile the innocent casualties continue to mount.

  1. This analysis you have just written is just all so totally wrong, Eric. You didn’t put any thought into it at all. You talk as if Abdullah is some great hero! But really? ‘Abdullah puts lives of Afghans first.’ I think not. Abdullah simply recognizes the simple fact that dead men cannot hold office. He didn’t want to die!

Here is yet more… ‘After a disputed election and Hamid Karzai’s refusal to address the corruption, King Obama threatened to have his troops continue cleaving the country apart until another election’.

Say what? This was not a ‘disputed election’ but a ‘fraudulent show election’. One that went astray while under world camera. And whether are not Obama keeps troops in Afghanistan has nothing to do with the outcomes of these fraud shows. He’s going to keep them there PERIOD, just the same as he is doing in Iraq.

‘Abdullah has forsworn his ambitions to the presidency. Let American decision makers stew on that.’

Huh? This is just silliness you have written down now. The US government absolutely wanted Abdullah to do just what he just did, Eric. Abdullah simply didn’t want to endanger his own life by going against US government wishes on this. After all, he was jousting to become the American’s chosen Afghan puppet and not trying to be the ‘King Solomon that you compared him to, Eric. He basically pulled an Al Gore here, and did it under the US’s command. Those who hold Power told him to go and he did. The war goes on.

  2. Tony- I’m not sure how you missed my point. Shall I repeat it? Obama has been procrastinating making a public decision on Afghanistan. He was using the pretext of the fraudulent election to postpone an escalation until the rightful winner was determined. Abdullah’s reversal put a halt to that charade. Now there is no legitimacy behind Karzai, and Obama has no more time outs. I make no argument that Obama has the wisdom of Solomon, nor that Abdullah would be any different than Karzai, only that the move undercut US strategy.

  3. Who is the horse here and who is driving who, Eric? Abdullah didn’t make the decision to withdraw voluntarily. The US government told him to get out and he did.

Instead, you have this slave of the US outwitting his masters when it just isn’t so. They wanted him out and think their own Pentagon power makes it legit no matter what? And for the typical American supporter of US governmental power Right or Wrong it is still so unfortunately. Karzai is legit as long as Hillary and Barack say it is so! Who needs the pretense of ‘elections’ when the script goes bad?
