Power already knows the truth

As the election nears, I recall Ward Churchill’s rejection of a modern activist’s purported objective, “speaking truth to power,” as left-leaning voices speak up to validate the Democratic Party’s inherent claim to represent what the Republicans do not. As if the corporate status quo doesn’t know very well the reforms it is resisting. Speaking truth to power is not tilting at windmills, it’s flapping your arms in a charade, to convey your divination of a windmill’s function, to responses of shoulder-shrugging at the omniscience of power, literally. Democrats have absolutely nothing to offer except lip service. What else is new. So why are even stalwart leftists calling this horse race like they’ve got a candidate in the running?

  1. Not so much a HUMAN as in “one person” candidate. The Republicans and TeaBags are spending a lot of money on slur campaigns, Smear ‘n’ Sneer, but mostly at the very idea of changes (none of which even took place yet) which would cut into their Corporate Whore-Lords’ unregulated power to steal from the workers through forcing the workers to work for any Employers who demand their services, without benefit of any effective collective bargaining mechanism (right to work laws), denying the Workers any hope of equality in the Court System (14th Amendment), seek alternatives to the Corporate Mandated Health Care system wherein we go in, pay all our available money to Corporate Death Panels and then are told even that isn’t enough, get patted on the head and kicked in the ass as we’re being escorted from their sacred halls of medicine.

Allow the Rich to exploit the workers in every degrading way that’s inhumanly possible…

  2. Eric, you ask this of us now????

‘Democrats have absolutely nothing to offer except lip service. What else is new. So why are even stalwart leftists calling this horse race like they’ve got a candidate in the running?’

Perhaps it is that sites like this one,Not My Tribe, have concentrated constantly on telling us how bad the Republicans are while generally giving the Democratic Party a pass. Your words now, Eric, are very little and very late. As it is, you still have Jester Jonah calling the Republicans a group of ‘Corporate Whore-Lords’ and sealing his lips about the Democrats on this very same thread you began to supposedly criticize “Leftists’ that do such.

  3. Chris Hedge put is well in this commentary of his this week….

‘The legitimate rage being expressed by disenfranchised workers toward the college-educated liberal elite, who abetted or did nothing to halt the corporate assault on the poor and the working class of the last 30 years, is not misplaced. The liberal class is guilty. The liberal class, which continues to speak in the prim and obsolete language of policies and issues, refused to act.’

Now why can’t the writers of Not My Tribe catch up with the real world as it is instead of still living in their fantasy one of ‘liberals’ vs. ‘Tea Baggers’?

  4. Ah pile-a-tony, our favorite schizophrenic name-caller. If we lampoon the right, you call us democratic stooges, if we ignore them, you harangue us for not piling on.

Now you confuse us for liberal elites. Just because NMT doesn’t see eye-to-your-eye doesn’t mean we deserve your dullard over-simplifications.

  5. For a supposed situation where they would win with a R victory, win with a D victory or win with a complete Defeatist victory by a non-vote default, the Big Pigs sure are piling on a bunch of money to try to tilt it the way of the Tea-Bag extremists. They’ve put more money into the Colorado elections than the Stimulus packages put into Colorado, without increasing the spending power of Colorado voters (except for those who are also candidates)

So, if the Tea-Bags really were a “Grass Roots Revolution, All Powerful, Resistance is Futile, You Will Be Assimilated” why would they be spreading so much fertilizer on their “grass”?

Are they really that weak and helpless that a Democratic victory would cripple their funded and organized by Multi-billionaire Corporate BigPigs Astroturf Movement?

If, Tony, if my vote is really that insignificant, why would you have so much concern about where that vote is cast and for whom? Or more importantly, against which issues?

The Tea-bags have spent so much money trying to influence our votes they would probably have had better luck just outright buying our votes directly.

Maybe there’s an up side to it, maybe I can figure a way to make mulch or some other fertilizer from the Bullshit they keep putting in my mailbox.

If you’re worried that “top level” Democrats aren’t anti-war enough just remember that Republicans and Tea-bags at EVERY level are very much Pro-War and, pro-expansion of those wars.

That Heroin (she’s a dope) of the TeaBags, Sarah Palin, made that quite clear at Glenn Becks Corporate Paid and Organized “grassroots” rally in Washing Tundy Sea last month.

  6. Eric, is the below really what you have come to? Calling me a schizophrenic and lamenting how I am supposedly a ‘poop’?

‘Ah pile-a-tony, our favorite schizophrenic name-caller.’ If we lampoon the right, you call us democratic stooges, if we ignore them, you harangue us for not piling on.’

Wrong. I am not ‘haranguing’ you and Jonah for not piling on. Anyway, you two pile on the Republicans day and night, and then to sure how equal and even your treatment of donkeydom will be, you tickle them with a pink feather and say that they’re bad boys, too.

‘Now you confuse us for liberal elites.’

But I consider you buffoons, not elites. Where in the world did you get the idea that you were being mistaken by me for elite anythings, Eric?

‘Just because NMT doesn’t see eye-to-your-eye doesn’t mean we deserve your dullard over-simplifications.’

I sent you a link to Chris Hedges commentary which it is clear you haven’t a clue to what it’s really about. That’s kinda sad I think. Go back and read the article again and see if it really deserves your ire? I don’t believe you even read it the first time.
