Is there a Solution to the Crooked Cop?

There is a simple solution to the 'Crooked Cop" and "Killer Cop" that America is infected with. It is a plagued, but like all plagues there is a cure. In every major city across America, young men and women will be recruited, their identity will be protected, these recruits will be squeaky clean and above reproach. Their assignment will be documented at the start of this program. They will then apply for a position with their local law enforcement with the purpose to gather information and document all incidents of criminal abuse within the department. 43740

The Poor Peoples Potty Project

Pause You Who Read This. In Great Expectations, Dickens writes, "Pause you who read this, and think for a moment of the long chain of iron or gold, of thorns or flowers, that would never have bound you, but for the formation of the first link of one memorable day."   Again; I ask the reader to pause and think for a moment; think of our human species, that has come so far in many of our improvements under the conditions we inherited here on planet earth; improvements in our sanitation, shelters and food. These improvements were not some idle whimsy idea, they were made because we needed and wanted to survive as a species, we come to understand that shelter, food and sanitation were the ingredients for longevity. We most often take these normal functions of the human body for granted without thinking as we live our daily lives in suburbia, moving with the speed of light from our jobs to our homes. Should you doubt, you have only to try a small experiment; For a few days camp in your back yard, without the use of your kitchen to cook your meals for nourishment, the shelter that provides warmth

Charles Dickens and the Tattered Cover Bookstore

Pause you who read this, and think for a moment of the long chain of iron or gold, of thorns or flowers, that would never have bound you, but for the formation of the first link on one memorable day. ?? Charles Dickens, Great Expectations   Pause you who read this and think of the man, Charles Dickens, who gave to the world some of our most memorable stories and books; A Christmas Carol, Oliver Twist, David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities and Great Expectations, to name only a few. Charles Dickens, a man filled with compassion for the poor and hungry, who he wrote about so eloquently. Now comes The Tattered Cover Book Store who seeks to make a profit from this man's stories and the people Charles wrote about; the Tattered Cover who through their membership in the Downtown Business Partnership, supports the Denver Camping Ban, a law that criminalize the poor and homeless. 43618

Protect and Serve …Who?

When the police show up at your door dressed like this, I assumed the 'Protect" means for them not you. They have done a great job of selling America the "Protect and Serve" but do you really need it? In February 1955, the Los Angeles Police Department, through the pages of the internally produced BEAT magazine, conducted a contest for a motto for the police academy. The winning entry was the motto, "To Protect and to Serve" submitted by Officer Joseph S. Dorobek. In my seventy six years of life, I can count on one finger the times I've had to call the "Serve and Protect" guys. And that was only at the insistence of my Insurance agent who had refused to pay the claim until the police were notified. 43594

The Denver Homeless Problem

The Denver City Council believes that if you criminalize, arrest and jail this man we have solved the homeless problem. If you agree with the City Council go back to your TV and watch the latest episode of "Keeping up with the Kardashians". But if you truly want to understand, and you want more information, then join activists with OCCUPY DENVER on Fridays. In doing that small act, you will meet the face of the homeless, you will be on the path of becoming a true compassionate human being. The photos below show feeding the homeless feeding at the Tattered Cover Bookstore in LoDo, every Friday at 5:30 pm.

The Michael Moore School of Motorcycle Riding

After only one lesson from Michael I was able to sit on my motorcycle and not fall down. Mayor Hancock has now instructed Chief White to conduct a task force study of Michael's style, with the goal of Michael instructing all Denver Motor-Sick-L-Cops for reeducating and training. Because Safety is Michael's number one concern; he said he will equip each motorcycle with side mounted air bags and training wheels.

Mainstream Media Missed The Mark, or give me another helping of Monsanto GMO potatoes and corn and pass me the latest comic book

March against Monsanto, Denver, May 23, 2015: Once again the main stream media failed to show up when one of their corporate paymasters tells them to go sit in the corner and be quiet. All mainstream media were noticeably absent. However they could be found at the Colorado Convention Center where the fourth annual COMIC CON event was held. The message we can all take away from this; when it comes to the health of human beings, watching your local news or reading the Denver Post is akin to reading the funny papers or watching cartoons.   KGNU sent the only newsperson to the Monsanto Protest

The Waco Police Massacre and Coverup

The photo of the bikers in Waco is as upsetting to me as it is to many of us. Many years ago I saw a photo of a naked starving child in the Sudan. I was so shocked by this photo that I had to turn away. And there-in lies the power of a photo. The photo that Eric used in his article has the same effect. It's hard to look at, but we must not forget the message of the article. The photo serves to remind us of the carnage the Waco Police Department is capable of, this is where we need to keep our focus, they need to answer their role and why these men lay dead in that parking lot. We should never let them investigate themselves. We have already heard too many lies from them about this incident ( Premeditated Murder). Our call needs to be for an honest independent investigation. At the present there are far too many holes in the stories the police spokesman is putting out. The photo itself is proof of their lies. 43252

Don’t Throw Me in the Briar Patch

Only a couple years ago we made a video, after seeing an email from the private prison people asking for a guarantee from the state for 90% occupancy. Think about that for a minute, then watch our video from the Media Action Network. How can the state save money when they have to guarantee to the corporation they will keep the prisons full? The taxpayers need to get in touch with their reps and tell them we've had enought of this BS from the private prisons group.   Video by AJ Oscarson and Jason Lee.

Ladon Sheats Peace Activist

It was 1979, I was sitting in the Denver County Jail waiting for my second escape trial to begin. The cell block door opened and in walked six men. I looked them over as all prisoner do when any new prisoners are given free room and board at the local crossbar hotel.   There was something very different about these men, I saw it the moment I set eyes on them. They seemed so relaxed and peaceful in their posture unlike most men when thrown into jail, there was no "rat in a trap" manor about them, there was a peace and calm hanging around them like a halo. As I watched them from the second tier, I made a mental note that I would talk with them to learn the Why, What and Wherefore. It was not long before I learned their dastardly crime. The TV set up on the wall was tuned to the news channel, and their they were, all over the main stream media. Their crime was: These six men and one woman had cut a hole in the barbwire fence that enclosed " Rocky Flats" the site where the triggers were manufactured for nuclear bombs. They then

Tattered Cover Five return to the scene of the crime

DENVER, COLORADO- On May 8th 2015, the Tattered Cover Five returned to the scene of their heinous crime, feeding the poor and homeless. After being convicted in a kangaroo court hearing in City Court for disturbing the peace and being a general nuisance, the defendants once again returned on Friday to the Tattered Cover Book Store where they fed the poor on a rain soaked evening. When we as a society look past an act of compassion and charity in feeding the poor and homeless, to see our shame, to feel our discomfort and then to criminalize this act of kindness. Then we are a Broken and Sick Society. 42826

Five Rag-Tag Protestors Beat On Plastic Buckets and the Rich Shit Their Pants

As Chris Hedges observed below, you can't have a revolution while sitting at home in front of the TV watching the next installment of Kim Kardashian.   If you can find the courage to skip just one show, go to the streets; what you find, might surprise you, Likeminded people, just like yourself. That is what the people of Baltimore discovered. Some people saw only rioting, but that was the corporate media spoon feeding the citizens. What really happen was the citizen got really pissed off at the system and went to the streets demanding change; it made the rich panic to the point that they indict some of the policemen. I remind you, they were only charged not convicted. This was a tactic used to defuse and distract the organized citizens. 42813

Mother Teresa was the Janet Matzen of Calcutta

(The above photo is of Janet on May Day 20015 feeding a group of 50 people in front of the state capital, still wearing that warm smile for all the homeless and hungry.)   Janet Matezen was a 54 year old working mom. She had recently lost her job at a local market where she worked as a meat cutter. Like many of the middle class, Janet was also struggling to make ends meet. It was October 2011, Occupy of Denver made camp in Denver's Civic Center Park. Their number began to grow daily as word of the movement spread via the media. Janet had never been a protester or even been to a rally such as Occupy, but she was curious. She decided one day that she would drive to the park to see what it was all about. 42856

An Open letter to the Denver Police Department

I can see you, as you sit there reading this; yeah, you with the donut jelly and crumbs all over the keypad and mouse. Searching Facebook and all social media sites looking for information. Doing a little undercover spying and investigative work so that you can run back to inform your buddies on what's going down. There is a term for that; you are a "SNITCH". In case you don't know, a snitch is someone who hides in the shadows gathering information so that they might betray another.   We know what information you want. What are the protesters' plans? How many of them are there? Where will they be? What are their names? We are happy to give that information to you. Unlike you, we are not a secretive in our goals. But before we give you that info we're going to give you a little mix of commentary and history wrapped up in the truth. You seem to get very upset when the protesters call you pigs or holler "Fuck The Police". 42674

Denver police attacked last night while holding peaceful motorcycle parade

DENVER, COLORADO- Last night in Denver, once again the DPD showed what they are all about. If it wasn't so shameful and painful you could only laugh at their conduct.   dla News Service: Denver Police attacked while holding a peaceful parade to show their support for "Baltimore Brothers in Blue". The police were attacked by several young boys and girls armed with cardboard signs while on parade down Colfax in Denver. The children claimed that the police were marching without a permit and were interrupting the flow of traffic. 42617
