Gun ownership does nothing to protect Freedom- So stop spreading the big lie that it does, Right Wingers!

The biggest lie of the Right Wingers in our country is that their gun ownership somehow is protecting Freedom and Liberty. Of course, this lie is straight corollary with the dullard jingoist notion that US governmental militarism and the bloated US military are supposedly together protecting 'our' Freedom and Liberty, when that is certainly not the case. The contrary! However, the ditto brained Right Wingers seem to think that if they repeat their lies often enough, some how the evidence will back them up. However, countries like Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Yemen have high personal amounts of gun ownership and quantity of guns around, too. Are they living in Freedom? Who could claim that? Freedom and Liberty are related by Peace and Economic and Social Security, nothing of which we in the US have that much of these days.

So Aurora shooter James Holmes has “lawyered up” and “is not cooperating” – you’d think he did something wrong

If law enforcement spokespeople are to be believed, James Holmes has "lawyered up", EXCEPT that he turned up at his arraignment alone, with a public defender. Does "lawyered up" mean something else, like invoking your right not to be interrogated without advice of a lawyer? Was the statement meant to fill in the villainous mold according to the public's "law and Order" TV notion about how police can mistreat suspects? By surrendering himself, by warning officers about his boobytrapped apartment and now telling of the notebook he'd mailed to his university, James Holmes' behavior seems to contradict everything the police are pretending. There's nothing to defend about the Aurora shootings, I mean that outside the courtroom, but why add stripping ourselves of our right to remain silent as we cheer for James Holmes' blood?

More gun fetishist news

Because of the incredible militarization of the US, much of the male population, and a huge group of women too, have a gun fetish. To have this fetish is to oftentimes experience heartbreak or to give it out to others. The latest news item about this is: Cop shoots and kills son after reportedly mistaking him for an intruder.

Corporate personhood: unintended consequences

yes/no: are corporations persons? Are Corporations composed of shareholders? Do Corporations act on behalf and with the explicit consent of the shareholders? Has the corporation, with said consent, used any consideration of value including the intellectual property of the corporate officers or of salaried employees or contractors ever made statements supporting the Death Penalty or joined as paying members any organization supporting the Death Penalty? Do they accept without question the definitions of Capital crimes including giving false testimony which results in the death of another human being, killing for money, treason? Of the shareholders holding a majority of the stocks bonds or other assets of the corporation, do ANY have stocks in Advertising AND firearms corporations AND Data/Software Corporations which publish movies or video games glorifying violence? Do any of the corporate Persons advocate the notion that firearms are necessary for self defense? Have any of the corporate persons made statements advocating lenience in the cases of persons condemned to death as accessories to capital murder, such as the "getaway driver"? Does the corporation support acts of retaliation against the perpetrators of 9/11? Does the Corporation support such acts even against nations which were NOT the perpetrators, such as Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Afghanistan? Combine the answers with facts such as Advertising for guns, like SUV ads, are directed to people who feel powerless and victimized, that firearms are used by Americans in either accidental or intentional homicides which are NOT self defense many times more than any adjudicated cases of Self Defense, that the violent movies and video games teach that killing is not only acceptable but fun, and NewsCorp and its subsidiaries such as FOX News and the Republican and Tea Parties are guilty of many more capital murders Every Year than the number of victims of the WTC attacks.

Pueblo Health Dept wants to know why more Teen Pregnancy…

I thought medical science had already answered that question. In other news, a grenade was found at prospect lake. Police are wondering how it got there. Well, you see, a flock of swallows migrating from a warmer climate, more conducive to the growth of the hand-grenade trees, dropped it there. OK so that's about as far as I'll go toward ripping off the Python Players at least for this one joke. After detonating the device, which, surprise, wasn't a fake... Police are trying to find out who placed it there. Here's a wondrously simple explanation, Occam's Razor and all. There's a lot of pissed off people in the world, some of whom are in the United States Military. Or WERE in the U.S. Military. Or wanted to be but couldn't pass whatever tests the Army has. One such person, obtaining several grenades and carrying them in his pockets in his equally surplus-store BDUs, dropped one and didn't realize that it was gone. And really, who among us hasn't misplaced a grenade or two? Or, perhaps the overgrown infant had purchased ONE Grenade, fantasizing about being the next Rambo (there's a new RamButt movie coming out too...) then upon being surprised by the CSPD on park patrol, ditched it in the weeds hoping to recover it whenever he could. And somebody with more brains than he had, spotted it first. OR, it was a new and creative way to hunt the Wild Geese which congregate at Prospect Lake. Them bastards is MEAN woooo doggies they's badasses. You see a group of them approaching in formation, it's not curiosity on their part, or a desire to look cute for the camera... no, it's a mugging in progress. The lead Gangsta Gander will tell you something that translates from Goose Honk into "Hey, we know you have the cookies. Better break them out or we'll muss yez up a bit..." At that point, a hand grenade or two would be in order. On a more serious note, the MSM, in conjunction with the Army, constantly fills the tiny brains of Wannabee Rambo types with fantasies of blowing shit up and shooting large numbers of Machine Gun rounds into crowds. It's what keeps people buying guns and grenades and other gruesomes with the intent of having the weapons turn them into badasses. Which doesn't work and what does happen is they shoot themselves, their friends family and pets, or simply lose their weapons at the lake. Ask the CS Fuzz Department how many guns, knives and spent shell casings they pull out of the grass at Prospect Lake each year. Does it make the news? No. Why, given the general attitude of hatred and war being built up like a kerosene-soaked stack of otherwise dry wood waiting for a match... When they build up so much hatred for their own profit, more blood money in their nasty little hands, why are they surprised AT ALL when somebody buys the shit they're selling? Hatred deliberately built up by "leaders" like Bush and Palin and Beck, who will themselves never take up arms if there's one chance

Jeanne Assam, rogue private security shooter, friend of George W Bush, to be honored in Colo. Springs for being gay

That's it, my romance with the local GLBT community is over. Yes I had some qualms when my fey friends leaned hard on Gay Marriage when it was made a wedge issue in the election of 2004. Yes I rebuffed the campaign against Don't Ask Don't Tell because it implicitly encouraged military service in a time of US war crime. But I remained in the fold because I was reminded that equal rights for gays and lesbians are fundamental to the embrace of universal equality. Now my humanitarian tolerance is being tested by having to extend equality to moral-idiocy. Today I received an invitation to a GLBTA gala honoring former Colorado Springs lesbian Jeanne Assam, the most famous lesbian they could tap apparently. Famous for what? The name rang a bell. Assam was the disgraced police officer, redeemed New Life Church security volunteer, who preempted a presumed massacre by a teen abused-churchgoer come home to roost. He was bent on an armed rampage, but does that excuse Assam shooting him from a concealed position, without even an attempt at apprehension? Local GLBTA leaders think it does apparently, and maybe it's no surprise then that they chose this photo to promote the event. Now I admit, next to preemptive war criminal George W. Bush, Jeanne Assam is an angel, even in sexuality-irrelevant Officer Unfriendly Ray-bans. But I say it's time local GLBTA leaders give thought to showing equal consideration for the people of conscience community.

Never mind the dog, beware of owner… Cute, maybe. Effective, nope.

Guns are what you call "simple". They're a simple piston engine, the very simplest being a piece of tubing, a nail and something to snug the nail to the inside of the tube for maximum pressure, then you simply make with a puff of air. With a little practice you can put that nail right through somebod errr Some Thing. Accurate shooting of anything only takes a little practice. Bow and arrow, slingshot, off your mouth, ... a couple of hours of practice and you have that part down pat. What takes a lifetime commitment is how to NOT shoot accidentally, not shoot in fits of rage, not become a murderer. AND, keeping YOUR gun out of the hands of people who don't care about safety or Human Life in general or specifically. When you take up the Gun, like taking up the Sword, your intention is to kill somebody. Pure and simple and you can dress it up as "self defense" if you want, but it's still Killing Some Human Being. By the way, an AK 47 or any other military rifle isn't a hunting device. Unless you want to gut-shoot the animal thus rendering the meat really unsafe to eat (it's called "e-coli") you'd really be a lot better off with a slingshot, a bow and a simple counterweight/counterspring snare made from a bootlace. But you didn't buy your gun for hunting so stop GodDamn pretending, the "beware of owner" sign with a revolver pointed at the reader is strong evidence of that. What, are you DUMB? You're going to advertise to every thief in the neighborhood that your house (to professional thieves that's known as the "Free Store") has within it something of extreme value to the thief. A gun. Because with all the Gun Corporation inspired hype about how a Gun will somehow make you safer or stronger or more masculine, there's a ready market for guns. Stolen guns are the best kind for committing crimes, you know? Especially if handled with gloves thus the only fingerprints and now, DNA on the "heater" belong to the chump who BOUGHT it originally. The Military and Police organizations world wide, you know the ones, the ones who Do Not Consider Target Practice To Be Adequate Training for firearm safety, don't ever leave guns unattended. Not going into the living room with the gun in the kitchen even, nothing like that. When the firearm isn't in the physical possession of the soldier or cop, it's signed into the Armory and the Sergeant-at-Arms on duty knows where each and every one of them is and watches any entrance to the place where the guns are kept. Even with that Police and Military guns get stolen, not as much as people who buy them for "home protection" or some mistaken notion that they're Daniel Boone striding off into the wilderness to put meat on the table. But often enough. If you're going to have the store-bought case of "badass" laying around your house

Rock papers scissors blunderbuss

US Army says our GIs may need bigger guns. No, better history lessons. It appears as if America's gun makers are lobbying for another US standard issue. The stories are creeping into the newswires that US soldiers need bigger guns. Our 5.56mm isn't enough stopping power anymore, which explains the relentless insurgencies, they're not stopping. Well, making historical comparisons isn't going to serve your argument. Soldiers, experts and a US Army Study are looking back at past adversarial mismarriages of ordnance to spell out why today's GIs need to arm up. To our M4 assault rifle, the Taliban answers with the AK-47. Every schoolboy knows that, but it's a differential in caliber that means our opponents can fire from almost twice the distance. While we're berating the obvious, I'd like to point out their 7.62mm bullets also enjoy a home team advantage which ballistics geeks know affects range and velocity. Apparently the Soviets had the same disadvantage against the Afghans, the soviets had the AK-47, and they faced rebels with Lee-Enfield or Mauser rifles. The WWII era guns suited the battle better. Before that, the British were ill-equiped with Brown Bess muskets, against Jezzail flintlocks that ultimately drove every last Englishman out. Is old better than new, it doesn't help the case for the weapons makers. I'm reminded of when the crossbow fell to the Welsh longbow. New technology stoned by old, where the simplicity of brute force was the innovation. The Swiss pike figures somewhere in there, long pointed sticks, rough metal tips outclassing honed steel. Short range versus long range incompatibility is not accidental. Weapons fashioned for the close-in fighting required of enforcing occupation came up short against the partisan sniper on the offensive. US complaints of drawing the short stick are just keeping with tradition. Astute gun experts point to the M-4's shortened muzzle as a major reason its fire lacks velocity. The shortened weapon is easier to carry through doors. An early foreshortened firearm used primarily for urban fighting was the blunderbuss. Made even more portable was the dragon, carried by the hated Dragoons, early specialists in oppressing unfree populations. There are three common threads here, all of them related. The first is the coincidence that our pertinent examples are Afghanistan, and the Afghans never lost, regardless their weapon. Not unrelated is that the practical, indigenous weapon has always prevailed. And that's directly linked to the Law of Insurgency, a principle which shamefully America doesn't teach in its military academies. Put simply, insurgents always win. Oh there were good old days of conquest when gunpowder ran roughshod over the stone-aged. Those days went with the conquistadors and the US cavalry. Some may want to think our crusader edge is back, that an overwhelming US technological supremacy has restored the oppressor's favorable imbalance, but it's not true, boots on the ground. Wasn't that was the lesson of Vietnam? Another lesson despicably cut from the patriot curriculum. In Vietnam by the way, US GIs carried the larger M-14s, so both sides fired a similarly

Yeee-Haww! Gun Totin’ Elmer Fudd students to plan next Columbine at CU

Of course, they don't want to actually shoot PEOPLE, mind you, just the faceless (to them) threats like Liberals, Blacks, "meskins" Indians, Ay-Rabs, and anybody smarter than themselves. --Dudes, I'll put this to you bluntly... carrying a Gun is not going to turn you into a Bad-ass. Rambo was a movie. A work of Fiction. John Wayne was an Actor and to the best of anybody's knowledge never shot anybody. Every single one of his movies, including the "historical dramas" was a work of Fiction. I know, he didn't star in Rambo, but the same logic applies to Sylvester Stallone. Your fears about whichever of Your Fellow Americans you intend to shoot or try to intimidate into submission with your Big Bad Gun won't go away, and neither will the people you think will be intimidated by Your Big Bad Gun. Add in the FACT that if you fire into a crowd, such as the SU building, your classroom, the drunken frat-rat party you're attending (and you attempt to impress your fellow Big Little Boys with your gun) the odds are much greater that you'll kill or maim people who you didn't want to kill or maim, rather than the Liberals, Blacks, Hispanics, Ay-Rabs, Indians, gays, or Real Bad-asses of whom you are so very afraid. Some of you actually got into college on Merit, meaning you know a little bit about Mathematics. Math is very important to such studies as Physics, including the Newtonian Laws governing the study of Ballistics. For those of you who didn't actually study to get into college, that's the study of the behavior of projectiles, applies to everything from a slingshot to a Nuclear Armed Intercontinental BALLISTIC Missile, but the most common usage is for firearms. Because firearms are so cheap, easy to purchase, and just any person regardless of (lack of) intelligence can purchase or steal one, it takes ZERO amount of courage, smarts or Toughness in any form to carry one, to load one or to fire one. One element of ballistics is that the rapidly travelling (around the speed of sound for just about any pistol or revolver, and there is a distinction between the two) will be travelling about 100 to 200 feet per second slower after it goes through the person you intended to shoot, assuming that you hit your target. Most shots fired even by trained individuals don't actually strike their intended targets. As hideous as the body count for either of the World Wars was, it's dwarfed by the number of shots fired. So you have a far greater "shot" at killing people you didn't intend to shoot. But the truly Delusional method of getting really Stupid People to stock up on guns is to convince them that the Gun will, in (lack of supporting) fact, make them less cowardly than they actually are. So they sell a whole bunch of Guns to emotionally crippled In-DUH-viduals who believe that kind of crap. And, trust me, or don't trust me, it won't
