Bogdan ‘The Cossack’ recommends some music, culture, and history…

My Dear Friend, Bogdan, asked me to link people here in the US with some Cossack music, culture, and history. Here it goes then:   ?? ? ???? ????? - Oi u poli verba - Ukrainian cossack song of 17th century. Kind of like when rodeo meets the sea...   Thousands of Cossacks fights for Dombass - The History of Russia is repeated. NATO and its puppets meet defeat in Donbas...   The Cossack Rebellion 1648. This history is all rather intricate and complicated. Does the US government really want to defeat Russia that bad that it will actually continue foolishly leaping into the fire of Eastern European rivalries?

The Putin knock-knock joke is easier to find than his Kremlin speech on Crimea

This graphic circulating on the interwebs is a lot easier to find than Vladimir Putin's March 18 address to the Kremlin about the referendum in Crimea after the Western coup in Ukraine. Bypassing dubious translations excerpted on Capitalist media sites, here is a transcript of his speech direct from the Kremlin. Putin is no hero, but he threatens US-EU banking hegemony, gives asylum to Edward Snowden, and executes zero people with drones. QUOTING PRESIDENT OF RUSSIA VLADIMIR PUTIN: Federation Council members, State Duma deputies, good afternoon. Representatives of the Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol are here among us, citizens of Russia, residents of Crimea and Sevastopol! Dear friends, we have gathered here today in connection with an issue that is of vital, historic significance to all of us. A referendum was held in Crimea on March 16 in full compliance with democratic procedures and international norms. More than 82 percent of the electorate took part in the vote. Over 96 percent of them spoke out in favour of reuniting with Russia. These numbers speak for themselves. To understand the reason behind such a choice it is enough to know the history of Crimea and what Russia and Crimea have always meant for each other. Everything in Crimea speaks of our shared history and pride. This is the location of ancient Khersones, where Prince Vladimir was baptised. His spiritual feat of adopting Orthodoxy predetermined the overall basis of the culture, civilisation and human values that unite the peoples of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The graves of Russian soldiers whose bravery brought Crimea into the Russian empire are also in Crimea. This is also Sevastopol – a legendary city with an outstanding history, a fortress that serves as the birthplace of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet. Crimea is Balaklava and Kerch, Malakhov Kurgan and Sapun Ridge. Each one of these places is dear to our hearts, symbolising Russian military glory and outstanding valour. Crimea is a unique blend of different peoples’ cultures and traditions. This makes it similar to Russia as a whole, where not a single ethnic group has been lost over the centuries. Russians and Ukrainians, Crimean Tatars and people of other ethnic groups have lived side by side in Crimea, retaining their own identity, traditions, languages and faith. Incidentally, the total population of the Crimean Peninsula today is 2.2 million people, of whom almost 1.5 million are Russians, 350,000 are Ukrainians who predominantly consider Russian their native language, and about 290,000-300,000 are Crimean Tatars, who, as the referendum has shown, also lean towards Russia. True, there was a time when Crimean Tatars were treated unfairly, just as a number of other peoples in the USSR. There is only one thing I can say here: millions of people of various ethnicities suffered during those repressions, and primarily Russians. Crimean Tatars returned to their homeland. I believe we should make all the necessary political and legislative decisions to finalise the rehabilitation of Crimean Tatars, restore them in their rights and clear their good name. We have great respect for people of

Yay! Ukrainians win austerity measures and right to go in debt to World Bank!

We can keep arguing about who the Ukrainian opposition/protesters were, but the aftermath of the celebrated uprising has wrought this: the new leadership is being courted by the EU and the IMF so long as they agree to club requirements. Make austerity reforms, aka the privatization of public assets, and saddle their economy with debt to the World Bank. Meanwhile Russia is being warned to keep its military out. That should confirm who won in Ukraine.

US disparagement of Sochi Olympics is the cultural front of the new cold war

What a sad, embarrasing scene. What ungrateful guests Americans appear. Russia throws a magnificent party in Sochi, the penultimate of accasions almost still outside the bounds of what the international corporate media can control, and western journalists do everything they can to poop the party. Is Sochi really only Putin's ego trip? Do you think the Russian people haven't invested a lot of pride in these Olympics?

If Syria could defend itself I bet you’d see American colors run like mad crap!

So there's a little good news as the ambush of Syria gains momentum. It's unlikely to be true, but let's indulge ourselves for a mo. It's being reported that Russia will jump to Syria's defense by attacking the Saudis, and that Iran would retaliate against Israel. Both developments deserved and overdue, but who's going to take the primary culprits, the Western colonial powers, to task? If anyone should bear the "consequences" of an illegal bombardment of Syria, the US surely has it coming. Would the US strike Syria if the Syrians could hit back? How our colors would run if, for once --it hasn't happened since 1812-- the warmaking reached our shores. Our patriot palor would blanche to ashen, I'm guessing into a full streak of yellow in no time. Must it take a Hannibal to march on the "Home Front" before Americans care enough to curb their dogs of war?   Imagine it, the cretinous feudal House of Saud decapitated. They oversee Mecca, impose a repressive Islamic code on their populace, while engorging their family wealth and flesh like medieval popes. And Israel, that last colony of white settlers bulldozing over Palestinian land and lives, dismissing them like Native Americans falling before their Euro Middleast Manifest Destiny. Could a Syrian debacle spell the end for the feral Arab warlordships and for Palestine's Jewish exceptionalist Apartheid? It might be worth it. Especially as we won't be paying for it with OUR lives.   "International consequences." I like the sound of that precedent.

Russia and China boycott US meeting calling for regime change in Syria

Russia and China are fed up with Pentagon manipulations all around the globe and have boycotted the meeting set up by the US to implement attacks on both Iran and Syria and threaten both with war and regime changes. China joins Russia in staying away from Syria talks.   See that hole in the middle of the dove of PEACE above Pentagon Hillary? That's big enough to fly a drone straight through it, I do believe. And how did she get to become a 'friend of Syria' anyway? She is completely monolingual and can only speak pigLatin it seems. Funny, since she goes around lecturing others, in that language, ALL AROUND the globe all the time. One would expect a 'friend of Syria' to at be able to speak some Arabic I would think. What would happen if all those that were monolingual in Chinese and Russian were suddenly to declare themselves to be 'Friends of the USA', and set up plans to deliver their 'friendship' through roses and nuclear weapons and all? Hillary? What would happen?

A good question from Russia

"Russia does not agree with the breakdown of the system of international law which is currently happening," said Yevgeny Minchenko, director of the Moscow-based International Institute of Political Analysis. "Why should Russia allow the Syrian regime to be annihilated by countries that it has a competitive relationship with like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the West?" This is a good question from Russia, as well as from China which has decided to ally with Russia on the question of Syria. See full Reuters report- Syria becoming wider global, regional proxy war

The Tsar, his Sow & their Nasty Piglets “sainted”

Were declared Saints in the Russian Orthodox Church at their births on the basis of where and to whom they were born. Other "saints" in their family were murdered by yet other "saints" in order for the Former to be supplanted by the Latter. The manner of the deaths of the Tsar, his Sow and their Nasty Piglets is somehow seen to justify their crimes and the crimes of their friends, family and their Hired Thug Cossacks. Even though their deaths mirrored the deaths they imposed on the Workers of Russia. The ones they literally OWNED. Their Cossacks had enacted the Tsar's Death Scene countless times before, dragged the peasants from their slave-quarters and murdered them, man, woman and child, often beating them to death with whips and clubs. "Peasants" meaning, property, Old French for "of the land" same as the Spanish/Italian "paisano", when the land was sold or inherited, so were the Peasants. "Uncounted" literally, because their lives from birth to death were merely the Property of the Rich. The Saintly Tsar and his Sow and their Demon Spawn piglets were repaid in exactly the same coin with which they "rewarded" their chattel-slaves for their lifetimes of enforced service. They were in fact repaid far less than they dished out. They weren't robbed, raped, brutalized and worked to death in the fields and mines and later foundries of a conceited band of Murderers and Thieves who had the blessing of the Russian Orthodox CHURCH on all their misdeeds. A Free Ticket to Heaven no matter how Satanic the nature of their lives. The Disney movie "Anastasia" celebrated the life of one of his Demon Spawn piglets, a Fairy Tale existence where the lovely and of course, Saintly Anastasia and her family had everything they wanted, the servants of the Fairy Tale Family of Saints never depicted with their shirts off, to display the scars from the whips. Her cousins at the Royal Balls, in their splendid uniforms, never showing the horrors of life for the conscript peasant Soldiers they OWNED and sent, by the hundreds, thousands, millions, to their deaths in wars where they slaughtered Other Peasants to seize the resources needed to support the Fairy Tale world of the Tsar, his Sow and their Piglets. The movies, there were quite a few, revolved around the notion that Anastasia had escaped. She died along with her family, got the repayment in the same coin with which they paid their Chattel-slave Property. It would have been the exact coin if they had been worked almost to death in the fields and mines and foundries, then dragged from their homes and shot for being "uppity". But the Russian Orthodox Church insists they're saints.

Russian Airport reaction: From the reactionaries.

Which in their customary thought processes, comes out as confusion. For a long while they've been vacillating, our Dearest Redneck Leaders that is. They praise the Putin-Medvedev-KGB response to the theatre hostage situation, where they killed civilians to get at the terrorists, then a school with the same methods, same results... In response to REAL Caucasians who formerly had, until being rolled over by the Russians under the Tsars and kept a part of Russia under the Soviets and still are, much like the much booed Soviet takeover in Afghanistan which mirrors the Current NATO takeover, Where "our" current enemies were THEIR enemies... they had been sovereign nations. Then the Right Wing Reactionaries condemn the Russian government for being simultaneously too lenient and too hard-line. WTF? How Hard-Core Repressive Does One Have To Be To Satisfy These Jackasses? This attack occurred in the waiting area where people were queued up waiting to be poked, prodded, stripped, x-rayed and fondled by the Russian equivalent of TSA. So what next, what levels of "security" will suffice? a buffer zone around the buffer zone? Having to hire extra uniformed thugs to staff the new protocol and the buffer zones that will expand ever outward around them? A perpetually replicating concentric circle, what happens when the borders of the safety zone collide with the borders of other safety zones, do the uniformed thugs declare inter-agency war on each other? All that extra staffing, they'll need to hire extra Security Screen personnel to do background checks on the New Hires. And of course constantly monitor them. Spies to keep track of the other spies. If I were to write a computer program that does the same thing it would take all the space in each infected computer in a matter of hours. Trillions of bytes of replicated, duplicated effort. And this in the post-Capitalist economy wherein Ponzi Capitalism crashed and burned. Again. Perhaps in its final death throes. You on the Capitalist side of the argument, you can't afford the security measures that would make your stolen gold and stolen oil safe. You don't have enough money and guess what? Your usual method of securing extra capital, Conquest? ain't going to work either because you've already stolen all the money in the world. There's nothing left for you to steal. Now for the REALLY sad part. Remember World War One? Well, unless you're about a hundred and twenty years old you probably don't. But World War One was BEFORE there were any socialist economies active. All the belligerent parties were Capitalists who banked in the same system. And they ran into essentially the same problem, all the resources were locked into either your own account, or those of competing corporations nations. No new capital to sustain the unsustainable. Money borrowed from people who had in turn borrowed. No principal left, just an upward spiral of increasing interest. What are Bloated Capitalist Big-pigs to do in such a scenario? Exactly what they did in 1914, mobilize their hordes of Peasants to march off and slaughter

Iran had ‘preconditions’ for nuclear talks, Great Powers miffed..

Actually Baroness Ashton and other "diplomats" said they were "disappointed". Baroness Ashton led a delegation from France, Germany, Russia, the UK, US and China, at the two-day talks. The international team had proposed a new version of a plan to keep Iranian enrichment within civilian-grade levels by having it send uranium abroad to be processed. But Western diplomatic sources have spoken of anger and frustration over Iran's behavior at the talks. But of course... Arrogantly demanding that one's own nation be accorded the same Sovereign Rights as any other is a privilege accorded to the Great Powers. "Simply EVERYBODY knows THAT, Dah-link" So the Baroness is pissed. GOOD. The Royals got snubbed by Peasants. GOOD. Apparently, unilateral demands should only come from the Empire. Only, since World War One they've shied away from being called that. One of the reasons for the British Crown starting the war was the same with King George V as it was with Elizabeth II, Iranian oil for the Empire. And Iraqi. Only it was under Turkish control at the time, and had to be taken away from Turkish control by force of arms. Arms carried in the arms of Peasants who had to be conscripted or cajoled into doing Their Masters' bidding. So they invented a lie, of course. Happens all the time in Diplomatic Circles, as Wikileaks has recently revealed. Just like Gueen Bess 2 cheerily signing on to the BushBlairCheneyCo. lies about WMDs both in Iraq and Iran, King George V jumped at a chance to pit "his" Imperial Army against those of his cousins in a gigantic game of Risk where the pawns actually scream, bleed and die when gassed, shot or bombed. By telling the Suckers errr "Loyal Subjects Patriots that they, as subjects and property of an Emperor, were to fight Imperialism. "That small nations would have the same rights as the the Great Powers." What a crock of Lying Pig Shit. The Emperors made out like the murdering bandits they were then and still are today. The peasants filled millions of graves. Same as always.

What, are the Chinese trying to mimic ALL our energy-sector screwups?

So they matched our Corporate Mining Accidents-waiting-to-happen-and-guess-what-they-do with similar ones by similar causes and similar results, and using Imported American industry analysts who also work for BP, Exxon Mobil, Massey Energy, The Peabody, etc... Now, they've got a BP-esque Oil Spill in the Yellow Sea. Is it caused by their "socialist" supposedly publicly owned Nationalized Oil industry, now brought to its dying knees by the New Economy Capitalist Oil industry? Either one, of course, run under the supervision of the American and British Oil well, refinery and shipping Industry Experts who also work for BP, Exxon-Mobil, Massey Energy... The Rule of Three seems to have been pretty damned consistent in all of these lately, too, so maybe we can expect the Fully Capitalized Russian Oil Slick on the (deepwater) horizon? But not only are the Oil and Mineral extraction scams "safe as safe can be" they're also supposed to be vital for the survival of our economy. I always considered the massive food shortages that would be caused by the destruction of the ecology either directly through toxic pollution or "indirectly" through Carbon Dioxide, and artificially manipulated Ecologies using chemical fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides... I always thought that was kind of sort of like, you know, similar to NON Survival. I would muse and wonder who writes the Energy Company propaganda but then, it's an in-house thing. They might farm out the spewing of such propaganda to Fox and AP and CNN etc... but the in-house writers produce the scripts the "independent" media are paid to mouth for them.

Katyn Forest kills new Polish Mandarins

At the height of the scramble for Poland which led to WWII, longtime nemesis Russia virtually decapitated Poland's governing class. Nazi Germany brought Blitzkrieg and Genocide, but the Russians successfully dominated Poland because Stalin had executed its officers and intelligentsia in the Katyn Forest in 1940. It was to a 70th anniversary commemoration of the Katyn Massacre that the president of Poland, with much of his government, was flying when his plane crashed this week. Does is surprise any that Russia's Vladimir Putin would take a lesson from the success of the first Katyn firing squads, in ridding his sensitive border regions this time of pro-Western administrators who were showing no qualms about hosting NATO missiles aimed at their Russian neighbor? Putin's audacity might defy belief, but why is our media reticent to accuse the macho kingpin?

State Terrorism raises the terror stakes

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev pledged this response to the Moscow subway blombings: "The measures to fight terrorism should be expanded, they should be more effective, more harsh, more cruel, if you please." Conceding, I believe, that in challenging state repression, it is the insurgent-variety terrorist who defines appropriate and just. What Russian law enforcement measures hadn't proven sufficient against the Chechen rebels and their present leader Dokku Umarov? Quoth Medvedev: "We have torn off the heads of the most odious bandits, but clearly this was not enough."

Mikheil Saakashvili, US government war whore

I still have US support, says Georgian leader. Well YES and NO, you whore. What you don't have is the unconditional support of your own people, Georgians, for bombing parts of what was your own country anymore. You lost that support.   It is just so pathetic when foreign elites claiming to be Great Patriots of The Homeland become just total whores paid for by The American Empire! Your own people can no longer stomach you, Mikheil. They now know that you are the US Pentagon's man, and not theirs. You'll never gain back their support since you being an American whore has now cost their people dearly.

Russia to Europe- Back US war making then pay the price

Russia is starting to play tough with the US's European allies because of their support for the constant US Pentagon aggression. No longer can the main European countries just verbally waffle along while doing absolutely nothing other than backing the belligerent US foreign policies. EU warns of legal action over gas So the Europeans are going to try to wage their own form of economic warfare against Russia through the courts, but that just won't work and is more straw than substance. Europe is energy short and why should Russia just lay back and do nothing as the US tries to loot the world's remaining and rapidly declining energy resources for itself? There simply is no reason and now the Europeans are going to have to start paying the price for riding along with Pentagon aggression throughout the world. Russia's had enough.

Putin once again to the US and Europe- ‘Fuck you, you are not going to turn Russia into a Third World rape victim!’

Russia-Ukraine gas talks collapse --like when the US tried to pull off its little con game using Georgia to bomb South Ossetia. Vladimir Putin has responded to the US and its Klan of Western European allies, that Russia will not be dragged further into the Third World by capitalist imperialism. That's what it's all about, too, as both the former Chinese and Russian 'socialist' bureaucrats were promised full partnerships in the imperialist capitalist world if only they would tag along quietly behind the US and its world allies. Instead, the Pentagon has been trying to push both countries backwards and not forwards. The USA government has been having its own way for the last three decades doing it, too. Colonialism 101 is something that the former 'Marxist-Leninist buffoons running China and the Soviet Union back then never learned for themselves, let alone taught to others in their pantomime of playing 'Great Helmsmen' cartoon roles for the world public. Both Russia and China drifted away from internationalism and solidarity with the oppressed of the poorer and exploited Third World masses of destitute laborers, and instead began to ape assholes like Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan in their politics. They wanted their places on the big table alongside their capitalist associates of Great Britain and the US, Germany, France, and Japan. The dummies were conned, and Putin is quite aware of that by now. Further, he understands Peak Oil is a reality, as well as Peak Gas. In his words, 'Cheap Energy' is over for you guys, and now we're not just going to sit by and let you pillage everything from our country, Russia. Sadly, our own US 'leaders', from Obama to Clinton to Bush to all of the schmucks up there are nothing but criminal robbers and murderers, and world war is soon in the cards if the common folk don't begin to wise up in the US and Britain, Germany, France, and Japan quite soon. Not to mention the utter ecological destruction of our planet in the cards for all of us quite soon, too, if we continue to fail to act. That picture is of the university in Gaza being bombed by the US... Oh, I meant Israel. Sorry.... Happy New Year.

Get it right, Georgia!

A former Georgian ambassador to Russia has caused uproar in Georgia by saying his country, not Russia, started August's war over South Ossetia. Will the messenger be killed now? Of course, Mr Kitsmarishvili still doesn't have it right since it was the Republican Party in the US that started this war, not just the Georgian dictator, Saakashvili. That guy is just a US government puppet and not a loose cannon as the US government and media now want to portray him as being. Now how do we try to stop new war aginst Russia being started from Washington DC, since Barack Obama and the Democratic Party is continuing the Bush foreign policy with Dubya's Gates at the helm? Something to take up in your local 'Peace'crat grouplet, perhaps?

Somalia and the Pentagon Pirates of the Indian Ocean

It is a clear indication of how iron clad government controlled is the US corporate press that news reporting about Somalia in the last couple of weeks has been centered on the stoning to death of a young girl and 'pirates'. Never mind those millions of starving refugees in the country that the Pentagon has created, it's 'Indiana Jones' time here for the American media! And pirates are always fun to play with! But who are the real pirates off the coast of Somali in the Indian Ocean? Asia Times Online gives us some insight into just that question... NATO reaches into the Indian Ocean India was once a neutral player in the old Cold War, but not anymore these days and times. The US has captured another satellite government to use in its geopolitical warfare against China and Russia... and that country is India. That old ally of the US, Pakistan?... well let's just say that their new role is to be turned into a battlefield zone in Southern Asia for the Pentagon. The US based military industrial complex needs to get the Pentagon firmly into that region for more sales for them to be funded from US taxpayers. How better to keep the welfare system for them going? They need Federal 'bailout'! As to the Somali 'pirates' seizing ships inside their coastal waters? Look at it from their viewpoint? Nobody complained much about the US/ Ethiopian piracy in their homeland, now did they? How about those $300,000,000 of fish annually pirated from their coastal waters by international fisheries based in other countries? Who cares about fish piracy stealing from the starving Somalians? Did you even hear about it? Then why not Somali 'pirates' getting into the big game? The US government is into a big geopolitical play to corner the world's last remaining natural resources away from China and Russia. Southern Asia is the new zone of combat and the Indian Ocean sits strategically placed between Asia and Africa and most of all, the Middle East. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization is now into piracy in the Indian Ocean in a big way, all under the direction of the USA, and that wonderful little building in Northern Virginia, the Pentagon! Peace Now, Y'all. I'm sure that Obama plans to deliver 'PEACE'... lol. He's going to fight the Big Bad 'pirates' in Africa!

‘Commie’ Gorbachev still trying to build social democracy by way of Reaganism!

One of the most pathetic figures of our times is certainly that of Mikhail Gorbachev, the Russian 'commie' boss who fell in love with Margaret Thatcher and Ronnie Reagan and had his love dashed on the rocks of reality. What a world class dummy (ventriloquist dummy even)! So what's he doing almost 2 decades later? He's still doing the same! Gorbachev to form new Russian party Note that it is not really Gorbachev who is forming this new political party though. It is one of the Russian billionaires Gorbachev helped create from shared Soviet national wealth, Alexander Lebedev. Lebedev is kind of a combo figure; part Bill Gates, part exKGB, part pseudo communist of the past, part crooked Russian businessman (tycoon is what they pleasantly presently call these mafiosos). Gorbachev doesn't get it at all, and for somebody supposedly who studied marxism-leninism he sure is a lame brain. He simply doesn't understand that capitalist social democracy is something built on imperialism and the shared exploitation of wealth ripped off through exploitation of the poorer capitalist Third World countries, and not through pretty flowery words about democracy, etc. There never would have been a spread of Scandinavian social democracy without the Scandinavian countries being blocked with imperial powers like the US, Britain, France, and Germany in a common capitalist economy based on exploitation of the poorer ones. Gorbachev's new political formation is likely to get her about zilch Russian support, but it will allow him and Lebedev to parade themselves as great Russian 'democrats' at functions where folk like Bill Gates, Al Gore, and Jimmy Carter might show up at. These guys are kind of like Hollywood even... All shine and no substance. PS- And if you read closely, Mikhail is now a business man himself having invested with Lebedev in major Russian newspaper. Watch out, Rupert Murdoch! You have liberal competition!

Sympathy for Sarah Palin’s self mockery

Even with the official CBS transcript cleaned up, the Couric-Palin interview remains a riveting embarrassment. Fortunately online videos have archived poor Sarah Palin in all her Bush-league ignobility, if you can bear it. Don't the Republicans appear to be unfathomable mockeries of themselves? Yet they elicit sympathy as they are seen being mocked. If a person says something so irresistibly stupid that a bystander cannot fail to laugh, even if it's embarrassed laughter, and if a third party characterizes the laughter as mockery, who comes out the winner? (I once watched someone walk out of the bathroom with a tail of toilet paper sticking from his pants. Wherever he turned people were stifling their laughter, especially as he looked into our faces for what we found so funny. Finally he discovered the toilet paper, and I still ache at the memory of anticipating his next eye contact. I have no question who emerged the loser.) But let's resume our previously scheduled laugh track: 1. The Interview COURIC: You've cited Alaska's proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that? PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land -- boundary that we have with -- Canada. [...] COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials. PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our -- our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia -- The entire world has got to be referencing Miss South Carolina's famous "US Americans, SUCH AS" essay answer. But these days who can doubt Ms. Upton was plenty qualified to be Miss Teen USA. It seems so long ago now, what was it? Early 2008? Now she could stand in for GOP running mate. I'll address the [...] in a moment. So now even some media talking heads are piling on, as if they cannot bear NOT TO call Sarah Palin on her obvious lack of qualification beyond the wading pool. I think the moral outrage is refreshing, and I love watching Wolf Blitzer for example, cling to the party line in the face of a colleague's truth talking. But I have to wonder, where were the dissenters when George Dubya was performing his interview follies? Did these now-malcontents think George Dubya was doing just fine? Were his answers making them proud? Was Dumbya's imbecility just opaque enough that these same pundits could reassure us in good conscience that they thought Bush was the right man for the job? 2. The Debate For yet other TV news personalities, next week's Vice-Presidential debate cannot come soon enough. I'm sure their eagerness matches overwhelming public anticipation for Palin's moose-in-the-headlights face plant. Oh My God is that going to be some Reality Television! It'll be the Special Olympics, in the Roman Coliseum, costarring the Honorable Senator from Delaware as the lion. I do not envy

South America unites in rejecting US subversion on continent

Much of Latin America has watched on in disgust as the US government has fomented regional strife, civil war, and racist pogroms against the indigenous community in Bolivia that has claimed at least 30 lives so far. Reuters reports though that South American leaders back Bolivia's Morales and not Washington DC in this battle. Leaders of countries all around the globe are beginning to resist US government terrorism. Pakistan also has begun to fight back against US subversion of peace in their country, just as Russia gave a kick in the teeth to US subversion in Eastern Europe and the Caucasus. See Pakistan troop fire turns back U.S. helicopters Latin America, too, is just fed up with the US government. Yankees Go Home! That is the cry every where these days!

US imperialism in check with Detente

First there's Georgia, where Russia pushes back US efforts to muscle further NATO expansion. Then in our own hemisphere, Bolivia and Venezuela expel their US ambassadors, as Russian long range bombers land in South America in advance of joint naval maneuvers in the Caribbean. It's not a resumption of the Cold War with the USSR, Russia is advancing no Communist Iron Curtain. But could a rival super power, in league with the unaligned nations, be a challenge to US hegemony? We could hope so.
