Republican Congressman Doug Lamborn is how much worse than Democrat Senator Michael Bennet?

My Dem friends are protesting the Debt Ceiling Heist outside of 5th District Congressman Doug Lamborn's office, even though today the relevant vote is in the Senate, and Senator Michael Bennet has an office downtown. Except he's a Democrat. AS IF my colleagues think only the Republicans are screwing them on the debt crisis "deal!" Much as I object to being represented by the squeaky voiced pea-brain bigoted Lamborn, this Move-On crowd pretends their corporate party offers a veritable alternative. Senator Bennet is a pro-banking, pro-privatization, pro-military, frack-the-environment, blue dog centrist, who quite righty takes progressive liberals for schmucks.

Dems pass Monsanto anti real food act

The corporate US House of Lords, aka Senate, passed Big Agra's "Food Safety and Modernization Act" which aims to further impede the natural agriculture resurgence while shielding the real sources of food contamination, factory animal farms. Count BOTH Colorado Dems among the corrupt legislators who I guess pretend they don't know better. Yes, Senator Mark Udall and newly entrenched incumbent Michael Bennet. FRIDAY 9/17: See Jim Hightower, then rally to save Social Security, sort of

This Friday evening, September 17, Colorado Springs activists can have their cake and eat it too. The Jim Hightower event and the Colorado Senate race debate are back to back. So it's sheet cake. Jim Hightower is still plugging his populist pun, The People Are Revolting, which may be true of the hoi polloi in the whimsical sense, but hardly describes their political momentum --unless you count the Tea Party and its pretend rebellion, if anything, a conservative counter-revolution to reinstate the tea tax. Though Hightower's tales are getting as long in the tooth as his common super-citizens meant to serve as examples for us all, he's still worth lots of laughs, and his material angers, even if it fraudulently attempts to raise hope. That's at 4:45PM, at the Cornerstone Arts Building, the southern-most encroachment of the Colorado College campus. At 6:30PM there's a rally planned for outside Centennial Hall, where Michael Bennet will be debating Ken Buck for the US Senate seat. Democrats have organized to protest Buck's campaign promise to privatize Social Security. A progressive group is supplying the placards which read "HANDS OFF MY SOCIAL SECURITY." It's a worthy message, but like all slogans pre-printed by the SEIU, it tempers the more appropriate syntax. "Hands off" should be "Do not steal." The bid to swipe the public monies is more like pillage than misguided tinkering. And will those attending the rally be directing their outrage at only the Republican nominee? What about Bennet, the Democratic incumbent, who's already been doing Wall Street's bidding without fail? Thorough activists might want to bring ther own signage, for example: TELL BOTH CORPORATE PARTIES: DON'T STEAL SOCIAL SECURITY or perhaps: PRIVATIZATION IS CLASS WARFARE. Otherwise, both events are exercises in placating public unrest. This Friday evening you can pretend your voice is being heard by the senate candidates, while Hightower comforts you with stories of others who think they're making a difference too.

Bennet, Romanoff, which is not ringer?

COLORADO COLLEGE-- How did this opportunity elude local activists? It used to be a visit by a sitting senator merited an in-your-face STOP FUNDING THE WAR welcome. Tonight Colorado College will host Washington insider Senator Michael Bennet and his Colorado pro-war challenger Andrew Romanoff for a debate at the Worner Center, purportedly to resolve which is the corporate shill and which merits the trust of local Democrats. Coloradans For Peace wants both to discuss atoning for their pro-corporate records.

Obama visits Denver to hear from you

President Obama will make an appearance in Denver on Thursday, February 18, to survey Colorado Democrats about how to change our nation's imperialist course. Clearly, he's plum out of ideas. We can hope the newbie warmonger kleptocrat hears we hold America to higher ideals than torture, assassination, racism, and genocide. Obama is coming to endorse Senator Michael Bennet's Act Blue campaign. Huh, blue blood? Cold blood? Black or blue, these are pretenders. What does it mean to "act blue?" The Blue Dog Democrats have already taught us blue means pissing on your constituents. Just when "Democrat" has come to mean nothing, now we have "blue" to mean less. What a bizarre turn of events that the so-called people's party assumes the mantle of the Blue Meanies to distance itself from red, the universal color of socialism, the real people's party. Actually, the event's a fundraiser, so it will cost you $25, $100 or $250 to see the president, and then that's only for the privilege to LISTEN, to hear him justify why his actions seem diametrically opposed to your interests, I guess. As usual, the only opportunity to TALK to President Obama will be from the street, where of course any activist message will by design be diluted with stewed tea. It's the new Kool-Aid.

2 turncoat Democrats are our senators!

Freshly minted US Senator Michael Bennett just voted against the Helping Families Save Their Homes Act of 2009, siding with the usurious banks. Do we give him a pass? It's not Bennett's first snub of the November 2008 progressive mandate. What's it going to take before Colorado constituents shout down the Washington insider for being a fraud? Bennett is speaking at CC's commencement on May 18. Is he or is he not accountable? I don't dare, actually. Some of my friends still think he shows promise. But I had a chance when Governor Ritter first paraded him to Colorado Springs, to look into his averted eyes. I saw the face of a weasel. Bennett spoke too, committing to absolutely nothing. Did I mention he was a Zionist? I'm hoping someone will consider his grace period expired. As well today on HB 1274, Colorado Senator and proven shit John Morse took "repeal the death penalty" out of the Repeal The Death Penalty Bill. Morse also sponsored SB 241 the DNA Sampling of Felony Arrestees which would mandate that DNA records be kept of all those accused of a felony. No word yet on John Morse's next visit to Colorado Springs. He didn't join Representative Lamborn at the Tax Day Tea Party, but you know he wanted to.

Meeting Senator-to-be Michael Bennet

COLORADO SPRINGS- Governor Bill Ritter introduced his appointment to the US Senate, political novice Michael Bennet, to an audience of Springs Democrats today. Judging just by Bennet's own words, this development is about as disappointing as it gets. Full report after this note: Both men spoke predominantly about education, considering Michael Bennet current position as Superintendent of Denver Public Schools. Before we contemplate Michael Bennet's qualifications for the US Senate, let's broaden the scope. Even though he lacks the experience of an elected office, his resumé reflects someone well connected in Washington DC and Denver. What appears to be a comforting pedigree could also cause skeptics to fear he's a Beltway insider. Bennet's previous work experience was as a lawyer, a mayor's chief of staff, and a counsel to corporate investment raiders. It might be informative for us to wonder what qualifications did Bennet have in the first place, to be appointed to lead Denver Public Schools? If that assignment smacked of a political payoff, for Bennet serving as aid to Denver Mayor Hinckenlooper during his ascendency, can we wonder if a similar incongruous motive was behind his startling promotion to the US Senate? Okay, okay, so get this: Bennet described his legacy with the Anschutz Corp. thus: they were turn-around specialists! He explained that Anschutz took businesses which had been gutted or neglected by unscrupulous owners, and rehabbed them to provide jobs for thousands. Is that rather at odds with what asset strippers actually do? But this wasn't a business savvy Republican crowd. This was an assembly of earnest Democrats who wanted to believe in honest politicians. Despite having to cross the protesters outside, and having to face our placards at the meeting, neither speaker addressed the crisis in Gaza. The nearest either came was Bennet's answer to a question about national security, in which he explained the need to draw troops down in Iraq and refocus our energies in Afghanistan. Though we had hands raised hoping to be called upon, we otherwise kept silent and held our posters in full confidence that many among the assembled were in full agreement with our cause. After their public addresses, Ritter and Bennet gave media interviews behind doors guarded by a short grey haired gentleman who kept his eyes on me. But this is an understatement. Throughout the public meeting, and afterward, this man maintained a steely confrontational gaze directly into my eyes, from across the room, or right beneath my nose. It's a technique I recognized from Secret Service agents, except they don't usually betray an angry scowl. This person was trying very hard to project an intimidating presence. A few minutes after this photograph was taken, when the governor and his charge were about to emerge, this fellow walked straight up to me and began directing me to move out of the way. I assured him I was blocking no one's path, but he simply repeated himself with amplified belligerence. I chided him about this being a PUBLIC library, and that I had no responsibility to

Dems: Stop backing Israeli death squads

REMINDER: Colorado Springs PENROSE LIBRARY, 11am Saturday JAN 10 Come speak to Governor Ritter and newly appointed Senator Bennet. Bring whatever message you want. Maybe you'd like to ask the Governor why he appointed a PRO LIFE school administrator to the state's highest legislative office? Or keep the pressure on about Israel's ongoing atrocity in Gaza. In addition to GENOCIDE IS NOT SELF-DEFENSE, and ISRAEL OUT OF PALESTINE, we have: and:

Opportunity to address new Colorado US Senator Michael Bennet on Saturday

Colorado Governor Bill Ritter and his pick to replace Senator Ken Salazar, Denver School Superintendent Michael Bennet, will be visiting Colorado Springs on Saturday, Jan 10. You’re invited to meet the two at the Penrose Public Library at 12noon. COME AT 11AM, make them heed their constituents and stop the US wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and GAZA.   Let's show them that Colorado isn't just about soldiers and weapons contractors earning their livelihood from the expenditure of ordnance. From A.N.S.W.E.R.: The Red Cross has condemned Israel for violating international law by blocking ambulance and rescue efforts for wounded civilians. There are thousands of wounded people. The Red Cross rescue team had reported of one of many instances: [we] “found four small children next to their dead mothers in one of the houses. They were too weak to stand up on their own. One man was also found alive, too weak to stand up," the statement said. "In all, there were at least 12 corpses lying on mattresses" in one of the houses, it added. The Red Cross declared that Israel had violated international law in its failure to allow for care and treatment of wounded people. The Red Cross had asked Israeli forces to allow them to access these children for four days and the IOF, which remained within 80 meters from the houses, refused to allow the Red Cross through while also refusing to help the dying families. The Washington Post reports: “The United Nations on Thursday said it was indefinitely suspending all humanitarian aid deliveries in the Gaza Strip, citing a series of Israeli attacks on U.N. facilities and personnel during the 13-day Israeli offensive. “The suspension appeared likely to deepen a sense of crisis in Gaza, where more than half the territory's 1.5 million people live on food aid from the United Nations and where water, power and cooking gas are all in short supply.” The people of Gaza are enduring immense hardship. The must know that they are not alone. The world stands with them. The only thing that will end this criminal invasion and war is the massive outpouring of the people in Washington, D.C., and in countries around the world. It is the people who are making the difference. That is what January 10th is all about. From Students for Justice in Palestine: SJP condemns this Israeli escalation of violence against Gazans in the harshest of manners and highlights that it was forewarned by Israel's deputy defense minister Matan Vilnai as a "greater Shoah" the Hebrew word for the Nazi holocaust. Under International law and standing UN conventions, destroying a people in part or in full is considered ethnic cleansing. The full siege of Gaza is leading to deaths due to lack of access to medical essentials, sickness, lack of sanitation and lack of access to basic resources that are there and protected as basic human rights. The Palestinians dying in Gaza were pushed out by Israel, forcefully and illegally in an effort to ethnically cleanse Palestine. Now Israel is killing them inside the refugee camps. Peace
