Ghailani innocence proves Guantanamo can’t trust US civilian courts to uphold terrorism threat charade

Guantanamo detainee Ahmed Khalfan Ghailani was acquitted of all significant terrorism charges. The victory/defeat is being hailed as a setback to efforts to close the illegal US detention facility. Come again? Apparently President Obama can end torture renditions to Guantanamo if he can be assured that kangaroo courts elsewhere can keep the alleged evildoers from roaming free. OR Ghailani’s acquittal could cement the precedence set by the hundreds of innocents already released from US extrajudicial detention, that not even a court of law will assert these men are guilty. America’s Islamic-blood-thirsty press, led by NYT, WP & LAT, are whining that Ghailani’s confession was determined inadmissible because it was obtained under torture, or as they put it, “torture.”

Mass-murderer Massey Energy declares crime scene to be own damn business

Massey Energy is in “a standoff” with federal investigators trying to determine responsibility for the deaths of 29 Massey miners earlier this year. The mining company won’t comply with inspections of equipment defects which may have doomed the miners, and doesn’t the showdown highlight the corporate personhood fallacy? Imagine a serial murderer successfully disallowing police access to a 29-body crime scene. Would the media call that a standoff? Apparently now the mass-murdering Massey has been given an extension until Friday to comply. Can real-persons get some of that soft-on-crime-fighting? Aspiring Masons and Gacys, you must incorporate.

As oil industry crony Lisa Murkowski retains her Alaska senate seat, did she “make history” by being the first official in 50 years to succeed as a write-in candidate, or did she make history by demonstrating that incumbents can beat every last determined effort to throw them out? The otherwise incorrigibly-Republican Murkowsky was rejected in her own party’s primary, so she defied her constituents by running under the stealth Incumbent Party, DC’s most heavily funded lobby arm, representing corporate polluters, profiteers, pillagers and other profaners of Democracy, enlisting the help of even Alaska’s poorest spellers to ensure that nothing will dislodge America’s corrupt Mandarins.

Did you think Operation Iraqi Freedom photographers invented the warplanes-at-sunrise theme? Here’s a propaganda shot circa WWI, where the crack of dawn obviously had to be hand tinted on the original monochrome. Is that any more a manipulation than the digital ultra-vibrance our embeds contrive today? The caption under this photograph, reproduced in The Nations at War: a Current History published in 1914 when the “Great War” was yet “the World’s Greatest War,” reads: “A French armed biplane in pursuit of a German Taube aeroplane.” That’s for the folks on the homefront. In reality the German Dove has probably swooped upon the heavier Farman bomber whose forward gun was mostly used to strafe infantrymen.

Call it a setback, Obama calls it “humbling,” but the election obviously provided a sweeping mandate, and the president is running with it. The spectacle of Americans unquestioningly casting their vote for worse or worser, is the usual reinvestment of political take-me-for-a-ride capital, to jaw dropping limits. The new Republican majority can refuse to fund “Obama Care” but now President Obama is inexplicably floating conciliatory balloons about having to extend the tax cuts for the rich, as if the [sunsetted] Bush Tax Cuts needed a congressional vote to end, not to resume. Apparently the election day show of imbecility has emboldened DC polemicists to pretend the sun never sets on government graft.

Student in Yemen –allegedly, even to herself– mails a package containing explosives, CIA forwards a tip-off. YOU, think of a number between 1 and 10. Even Ockham’s Razor would not predict the CIA can guess it. Do you suppose the New York Times headline got it right? “Bomb Plot Shows Key Role Played by Intelligence.”

GOP Republicorp outsources groveling lackies from subsidiary Democratards

We the electorate have been warned that “REPUBLICORP” will be unveiled as the dreaded merger of the GOP and corporate masters. Unconcatenated into the spiffy boo-word is mention of the Democratic Party, a wholly-powned subsidiary. Sure they’re the voices sounding the alarm, and they will certainly blame the victim where voters fail to elect Dem incumbents. Or WHAT will befall us? The sky falls apparently, if the Republicans regain the majority in Congress. Although Dems won the majority during Bush’s term, but couldn’t subpoena squat. And those were the halcyon days before super majorities and the virtual filibuster. I bet Washington Democrats can’t wait to be delivered from their put-on-the-breaks personas and resume unabashedly rolling in the loot of unfettered capitalist rape.

Michael Moore calls the Republicans the bigger criminals, but I have to say, there’s something about a lying petty criminal that’s much more offensive, especially when you can tell the petty fiend has aspirations to larceny every bit as grand.

Myself, I am simply salivating at the satisfaction of seeing the bullshit party cretins decamp.
