You get your weather forecast at the grocery store DUH!

My Grandpa, 27 year veteran of the Army, was also a staunch Democrat mostly because of Roosevelt and his emergency actions to stop the Depression from destroying America. As bad as it was, it could have gone worse. I know a lot of our (ahem)"conservative" readers, those who drew the assignment of trolling the weblog today, are screaming at their monitors right now just from that. Now, don't y'all worry none, boys, you'll get more to holler about presently. He was in the Civilian Conservation Corps, the ones who at public expense did the necessary work to keep the Heartland from turning into a desert, and cleaned up other little "mistakes" visited on the ecosystem by Mechanized American Mercantilism. That's my nouveau mot du jour. Grandpa was assigned on a dairy farm. With a bunch of others, one of whom was from some city and had apparently never become acquainted with farm life. And who complained about caring for, cleaning and milking the cows. Since cattle lay belly down to sleep at night, often in their own feces, you can't just lead Bossy to the barn, slap a bucket under her and starting pulling teats. Hell to the No Sir. You have to wash those teats first, especially in a setup with a milking machine. Ol' boy was understandably not very happy with that. Wished the cows gone in fact. Grandpa asked him "what would you do for milk then?" and he said "Why, I'd just go to the store and buy it." Enter NOAA and the National Weather Service. Both of them proposed to be cut by the "conservatives". No, seriously. It's been echoed up and down the Right Wing Talking points by now so I'm not sure which one exactly said it first. Bachmann perhaps Who represents a Dairy district by the way. But they're searching for things that cumulatively wouldn't cut a tenth of the deficit, because they're not going to dare breathe the Subsidies to The Rich in the form of the Police and Military State. A "Sacred Cow" as it were. Which is a misnomer as is "scapegoat" as used in the vernacular "they made him the scapegoat". Let's roll with those a few moments For instance, the Wealthy "scapegoat" food stamps and public housing and point to privately subsidized enterprises like Soup Kitchens and the Salvation Army. Cut a check to the mission every other month, so they think, Wham Bam Thank You Ma'am nobody goes hungry. Ummmm... not so... Aside from the Privatize Everything mentality causing most of the problems in the economy today, the very little spent on soup kitchens and missions doesn't even go to a red hot two percent of the people who need help just to Not Freakin' Starve In The Streets. Then there's the National Weather Service. The Lunatic Fringe want to cut it because, "people would just get their weather from weather.com or Weatherbug".... Uhhhh.... not only didn't your cheeseburger and fries not magically appear at your McFatFood restaurant, there were many middlemen

Vote for Me, or Pogo gets it between the eyes…

In another episode of the RNC deliberately throwing the 2012 elections, Bush administrations pointing fingers at each other over the Katrina non-handling. Instead of blaming everybody but themselves. Rick GoodHair told the VFW that he would send more Working Class people into harms way with pre-emptive strikes against anybody who is profiled as MAYBE becoming a terrorist threat sometime in the vague future. AND, Bachmann came out in favor of drilling for oil in the Everglades. So it's not exactly Okefenokee, the place where Pogo lived. Through the medium of a cartoon of course.

Another military victory where the Poor “socialized” their blood for Capitalism

Tripoli, the site of the FIRST U.S. Military engagement to prop up capitalism, is apparently fallen, not to economic "free" market forces, but to the Armed Forces. In a book titled "Liberty Reclaimed", often described as the libertarian bible, the statement is made and reiterated "the only substantial difference between the Soviet Union and the United States isn't one of raw political power or the freedom of the subjects but one of economic policy."   So, when the Military claimed and still claim that they were and are fighting for freedom, they're lying. Just as the Pentagon and their contractors lie about Agent Orange, which killed Miss Johnnie's husband and a countless number of others. Countless because the Pentagon, bowing to their Corporate Masters, denied for more than a decade that Agent Orange actually causes human death. They also have recently claimed in a lawsuit that locks out the people of VietNam from any lawsuits that the people of the Republic of VietNam (Saigon government) sprayed with A.O. (and lots of other Military hardware sold at massive profits by the Corporations who now claim a moral exemption to taxation) were enemy combatants thus not eligible for compensation for their kids being killed. Hmmm... I was told, as was everybody else in America, in Boy Scouts, at Church, in ROTC and later in the Air Force that the U.S. actions in VietNam were for the freedom of the PEOPLE in the R.V.N. Just like the lies told to justify the war in Libya. And Iraq. And Afghanistan. And Nicaragua. And Honduras. And insert the next several "dictatorships" which dare to put their own national interests above the Capitalist Powers. Funny how the word "dictatorship" gets thrown around by the Corporate Empire, saying that scenes like this where a General in a puppet dictatorship killing a POW. OOPS. That's a client of the American Corporate Empire murdering a POW. Our bad. All y'all who display that ignorant POW-MIA you are not forgotten flag, putting money into John McCain's greedy hands, remember that now, y'all hear? In a war to prop up a supposedly "superior" economic system. If socialism or communism were so inferior they would have fallen on their own, especially to such a massively successful "free" market system, yes? Only, it didn't happen like that. According to the Reagan Disciples, who worship a dead actor who never once fought for ANYTHING, the Military defeated the Soviet Union and not the Economic "superior free market" Turns out the "free" market has been subsidized from the word go by military power, and, in the VAST majority of cases, the people holding the guns were poor people, working class, shedding their blood and the blood of other working class people for NOTHING other than the economic gain of people such as our friend Publius, who sneers at the workers and soldiers as being "stupid" for putting money in his pockets. You hear that, soldiers, workers? The Rich Think You're Stupid If You Give Them Your Labor, Your Lives and Those

BP can’t find skilled workers. DUH!

As part of the international cabal sabotaging public education, workers rights, environmental and workplace safety, and making sure the Courts are fully privatized and thus Not Going To Ever Grant Equal Protection Under The Law.   Oh, that's right, we, the workers, who control less than a fifth of the wealth of the world, are allowed to buy judges too. Mighty gracious of them to "give" us such a right. The law, in its majestic equality, forbids rich and poor alike from begging, stealing bread and sleeping under bridges. So they'll treat our skills as just another commodity, one which we were supposed to take money away from paying our rent, medical care and other bills to buy that commodity so we could sell THAT, too, at a price far below what it cost us to produce it. Palin and Bachmann and the rest of the TeaPubliKlan Party chose to be somewhat higher paid slaves (whores, actually) for the Oil Lobby. And make the claim that they have the authority to sell US to their whore-masters. And our children and grandchildren. It's not any consolation but they sold their own kids and grandkids to their corporate masters too. Soylent Green Is PEOPLE!

Jim Bowie’s Noble Gesture of freeing his servant Sam

At the Alamo during the Texas Land Grab Disguised As A Revolution while he was waiting to be overrun and killed.   Mighty "white" of him but, hey, the manumission papers were a useless formality. One of the excuses used for stirring up the revolution was "deprivation of property rights" meaning that General Antonio Jose y Maria Lopez de Santa Ana had, through the enforcement of the Guerrero Proclamation, emancipation papers for anybody in Mexico (including, legally, San Antonio) who was held as a slave. This wasn't done as a slap in the face for the white Anglo colonists, who hadn't (yet) become quite the pestilence they would later be. Instead it freed up the Indian and Mestizo slaves owned by the Spanish overlords. The Mexican Emancipation Proclamation predated the U.S. one by about 4 decades. Not exactly a "backwards and ignorant" nation. So Sam was already technically free. Three slaves were known to be at the Battle of the Alamo; a boy named John was killed, while William B. Travis's slave Joe and James Bowie's slave Sam survived to be freed by the Mexican Army (from wikipedia) What got me thinking about it is Rick GoodHair Perry announcing his candidacy. Not just any Jackass Retardican, he's one of those currently celebrating the 150th (sesquicentennial) anniversary of the founding of the Confederacy and the start of a four year campaign in which a half million Americans were murdered by other Americans over the States' "right" to systematically deprive Americans of their liberty. But of course to hear the various Confederate Heritage groups lie through their bloodstained teeth, it wasn't actually about Slavery... just the states' "rights" to maintain slavery, and also they smoothly lie that it wasn't about Racial Hatred, even though the Americans they were holding as slaves happened to be of a much darker skin color. Slavery, in the Rick Perry-Republican-TeaBag DoubleSpeak, is an act of love. And, it's not like Perry actually believes the lies he tells. His FOLLOWERS, however, are exactly that STUPID that they do. Massive underfunding of Public Education shown in all it's glorious wonder. Look for the Texas Ignorance Campaign to spread across AmeriKKKa oh, wait, it already has, never mind! The RepubliKlan Party hates public education because Public Ignorance is their one power base. Just look at the Morons in Iowa and the Racist Lunatic they just selected in their straw poll.

Rick GoodHair, latest actor in the insane RNC puppet show

Aside from the constant pain in my destroyed feet ankle and left knee being a minute by minute reminder of the "Texas Miracle" economic program... There's the fact that the Reddest of the Red States are net debtors to the Federal Government they claim to despise. Corporate Warfare Welfare being the worst offender but also the massive amount of people who are eligible for food stamps (such as it is) AFDC and utilities assistance even though they're working two jobs at slave wages. Keep the workers broke, in debt, and if they're broken on the job, like myself, we're told that we should have squeezed insurance money and "down time" money out of the wage which isn't enough to pay our bills. The net effect is we're paying the corporations for the privilege of being their slaves. Then the stoopit bastard said, many times, that he could and would secede from the United States. Groovy, GoodHair, tres groovie. You can catch the bus to Guatemala or some other banana republic any time you want. One thing, the three other times Texas actually seceded, 1821 from Spain, 1836 from Mexico and 1861 from the United States the cause was an exaggerated view of Property Rights, and the constitutional prohibition against removing (amongst other things) property without due process. Only the "property" they were talking about was owning the lives and labor of human beings. Funny thing about that clause, so Noble a Cause when the Confederacy of Dunces pulled that shit... Now, the PEOPLE they were so worried about no longer being allowed to unlawfully remove their liberty from said PEOPLE, without any more than a pretense of Due Process, before they were born and for the duration of their lives and their childrens lives, well, they're no longer considered property. If Ricky the Republitard actually wanted to take Texas out of the Union, it would have to be a UNANIMOUS vote by every person in the state. To forcibly evict any dissidents from Texas would deprive them of their freedoms and their property without due process. Gentlemen and Ladies of Colour in Texas are now the majority, and, it's our family history, we know how "kindly" and with what measure of respect for their rights our ancestors were treated the last three secession sessions. Maybe his retarded ass should go door-to-door in South Oak Cliff soliciting votes for his Return To The Glory of the (slave plantation) Old South campaign. And of course kiss some huge military installations goodbye, which was his next trick to balance the Texas Budget. Fat chance. So now he's hoping to follow the footsteps of his Thief Mentor GWBush, go to Washing Tundy Sea in order to pull of similar robbery of the U.S. treasury. Why settle for comparatively Petty Theft crimes when they could go straight for the jugular? But the fact that the Moron, along with similarly morally challenged freaks who make up the "leadership" pool of the RepubliKlan and TeaPotty candidates, actually has a chance of being offered up as a serious
