Erdogan fakes coup in Turkey, purges army and supreme court, shuts down US air base to force extradition of rival

The military coup in Istanbul was not what the Turkish President’s tightly reined media, nor the West’s fascist controlled media, say it was. It was not a coup, it was a Reichtag Fire. Now Recep Erdogan is rounding up the “plotters”, most of them supreme court judges, who were the last checks and balances on his authoritarian ambitions. We’re supposed to believe jurists plotted with foot soldiers? Imagine you get a ransom note from kidnappers, but the person they say they’ve kidnapped is on Facetime with CNN assuring you he’s free! Imagine you’re the kidnapper and you see that! But you’re only a soldier, doing your compulsory military service, following orders to prevent rioters from storming a bridge, and you’re not watching television as your president calls citizens to take to the streets and attack the disloyal “rebels.” Meanwhile the officers ordered to give you the orders hop a helicopter to Greece because they know they are going to be the scapegoats. And get this: jet pilots who precision bomb Kurds and ISIS for lunch, can only lob lunchbox bombs upon the parliament and sundry official buildings. Now US pundits, speaking as former CIA officers, resting their laurels on having been advisors to countless military coups, are claiming the coup was “bungled”. Yeah? Do you think Turkish soldiers don’t know their capitol is in Ankara, not Istanbul? Former CIA director James Woolsey is among the pundits. Woolsey, we learn, has been in Turkey for the last six months. What is HE doing in Turkey? Now Erdogan has closed US use of Incirlik Air Base and he’s asking President Obama to extradite Fethullah Gülen, the Turkish expat whose is seen as Erdogan’s main political rival.

September 11 marks 13th anniversary of a pinnacle of American ignorance

9/11- Could Joseph Goebbels have conceived a more preposterous lie? Modern skyscrapers felled by aluminum aircraft, steel structures melted by mere jet fuel, hijacked planes not intercepted, black boxes vanished, at the Pentagon an entire plane not only vaporized but invisible to surveillance footage, a third WTC building was demolished by no impact at all, conflicting testimony from the authorities involved, air traffic control evidence destroyed, the official investigation foreshortened, and media gatekeepers ensuring that skeptical viewers are marginalized as “truthers.” Does it take an engineer or scientist to understand that the Twin Towers fell to demolition charges and not airliners? Apparently under-educated Americans think so and are willing to outsource all heavy thinking. I don’t subscribe to the theory that “if Americans only knew” our empire could change its stripes, but I do believe that unmasking “9/11” as a false-flag propaganda event in the mold of the Reichstag Fire could shed light on the fascism behind our Kabuki democracy.

Pearl Harbor wasn’t our first 9/11

Before Pearl Harbor, there was Remember the Maine (Spain’s sneak attack), before that Americans were admonished to never forget the Alamo (Mexico’s sneak attack). After Pearl Harbor, the sneak attack that conscripted US public opinion into WWII, there was the Gulf of Tonkin (Viet Cong sneaks), among countless false flags calculated to mobilize a peaceful population to support retaliations that would otherwise be acts of aggression. The Third Reich had its Reichstag Fire and fabricated depredations on German minorities in Czechoslovakia and Poland to justify launching war. Whatever happened at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, immediately branded “Nine Eleven”, launched the West’s overt War on Islam. It’s Yellow Journalism 101, but Americans never seem to learn. A Japanese flotilla traversing the Pacific to launch a suprise attack on the US fleet, unbeknownst to US intelligence, is as improbable as the collapse of the steel WTC towers. That our fleet’s capital ships, the aircraft carriers were off on maneuvers, leaving only aging battleships to be bombed, gives December 7th something of the odor of 9/11’s Building 7. Roosevelt’s legacy was haunted by accusations of “conspiracy”, of having sacrificed the unsuspecting servicemen’s lives to protect corporate oil interests extending beyond the Pacific. In view of the lives expended since, both military and innocent, to preserve the reaches of empire, what’s so hard to believe?

Every dollar wants to be free of the Fed

US one dollar bill, circa 1963-presentIt might stretch credulity that the US Bureau of Engraving encrypted prophetic images of the Pentagon –and the not yet built WTC twin towers– in their iconic Reichstag Fire infamy, unto dollar bills folded just so. But who knows, they might have chosen to encode Thomas Jefferson’s oft-quoted but unheeded chiding to the American people: “Every generation needs a new revolution.” And don’t we especially want to ignore this one? “When injustice becomes law, rebellion becomes duty.”

Dave and 911 fail Dale Carnegie at KRCC

911 is a lieCOLORADO SPRINGS- Events took a shrill turn at the KRCC open house this weekend. My friend Dave got evicted from the party. If Dave can gather any consolation, I’d say he’s entitled to feel he did everything he could for the cause. Some would say a more gentle tact would have been more effective, but I think that wisdom is debatable for the 911 TRUTH keepers.

My friend Dave is a tireless advocate for the real story behind 911. He shares an ever-darkening hope -my sense- that if only the truth got out about what happened at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, the whole Neocon ball of wax would melt like the towers, if steel can melt away like it did. Dave is so inflamed by the preposterousness of the lies supporting the official version of events, that he is determined to let no opportunity pass to raise his voice to cry foul.

Last Sunday, Dave’s chance was against Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now!, who came to visit KRCC. DN!, like its corporate news competitors, does not dwell on revisiting 911. Goodman has interviewed the makers of Loose Change, but that has been it. I remember the last time Goodman visited the Springs someone was trying to buttonhole her about 911. (It might have been Dave!) This time, Dave began shouting accusations of Goodman being a “gatekeeper,” as she walked to the stage, basically of her participation in the coverup of the Neocon equivalent of the Reichstag Fire. What can I say, I agree, but I’d rather hope there are bigger fish to heckle. But none really are accessible, are they? So Amy Goodman was Dave’s mark and he was determined to interrupt her speech sooner than wait his turn to ask her pointed questions in person.

What happened however, was that KRCC staff came to herd Dave away. They surrounded him, to quiet his tone and engage him, probably it’s fair to say, by distraction. But he evaded them, trying to get into a videographer’s camera angle. Eventually one of the smaller of the radio staff, a small woman, got in his face, and Dave was gesturing against her with his index finger and speaking with such ferocity that spit was flying. He didn’t purposely spit on her, but word went around that he had, and for the rest of the staff that was enough. Picking on a small woman is going too far, although no one noted that Dave is a pretty small guy himself. They were probably equally matched. But I can add that I’ve come against this woman myself, and she holds no punches when it comes to patronizing sarcasm.

But I am biased in a couple familiar matters. Number one, I can sympathize with being up against this radio staff who will positively broke no alternate view. They are rigid in their sense of what their role is in the community. They seek to generate no complaints. They fear listeners who complain about something being changed. Listeners who complain about something they’d like to see changed, are addressing nothing the radio station has done, the input is uninvited. If allowed to lead to change, most certainly it will generate counter complaints. Ergo, no go. Also, almost uniformly, the radio staff are uninterested in the complexity of news issues. They therefore have no empathy for those who would contend with their news.

I wondered if the radio staff saw the irony that by stepping in to stop Dave, they were being gatekeepers too. Probably they do not even understand the term. They are protecting their little non-profit, “like anything, we have to run it like a business,” and don’t want to jeopardize being able to do what they do. For them it’s enough to be somebody’s favorite little station, as opposed to fighting the good fight, or saving the world. In their own way, with music shows, they do that. But others, who see the potential of their power, guarded for official use only, see the guards as gatekeepers.

I don’t blame the radio staff for calling security on Dave, and I do believe they handled him as gently and as reasonably as they could. I only wish they might have shown some sympathy afterward, instead of treating him like a loon.

In a second fashion, I really feel for Dave. He’s up against everyone, and it’s not his fault. Dave has studied the evidence, he refuses to live in the darkness of a dark lie, and he wants to make the truth known. Who doesn’t want that? And so he has to break the surface, disrupt everyone’s tidy and comfortable world view. And when a newsperson with the capability to reach millions stops by in the flesh, Dave has to try to get to her conscience. It’s not like Amy Goodman has not studied the 911 controversy. It’s not like a private conversation would have enlightened her to an unearthed development. Dave had to haunt her like a telltale heart, and hope that at the next appearances someone else of like-minded 911 spirit would haunt her there. Until I suppose, she would resolve to broach the subject once more on the air, and again and again, until the truth was exposed. This is what I imagine to be Dave’s hope.

I have another friend in that camp, who was thankfully more civil, and came away thinking perhaps eventually Amy Goodman would be an ally. I had to agree. I speculated with him what might have been her answer to Dave, if she’d been forced to give him a candid answer, which no doubt she is not free to give.

Here’s what we figured Yoda would tell Dave:

Many are the 911 Truth seekers, but greater are the forces behind the official 911 Commission Report. The official channels, have they, and the institutions and the mouthpieces, and the means to present the truth tellers as crazy ill-mannered maniacs (you Dave). Even exploit the inevitably real crazies to full effect they can, and paint the rest by association. Not enough 911 Truth soldiers are there with which to mount an attack. But other battles to fight, there are. Throw our energies into those arenas, we must.

Someday historians will sort this out. The truth behind historic events is never for contemporaries to know. Knowledge is power. Are you in power? The real knowledge then, was not yours. Believe what you want, but suffer the fate of Galileo if you insist on trying to shake the system to its destruction. Galileo tried to put the very infallibility of the church to flame. Hard to blame them for threatening to burn him. Be satisfied with knowing.

Dave, I think you are right. I’m a far less audacious man than you. I’m not much of a friend when I can’t step in to support you, although I can try to explain afterward that you are neither crazy, nor dangerous. You are plenty rude, but you are a likable, well motivated person, looking out for the well being of all.

A plague on both your houses!

Capulets versus MontaguesJoseph Kennedy, patriarch of what is often described as America’s royal family, built his fortune by bootlegging whiskey during the Prohibition and rose to power by mob control of the unions.

Ill-gotten gains are credited by some for the fate of Joseph’s offspring: the “Kennedy Curse.” Son JFK, elected president, shot; son Bobbie, declaring candidacy, shot; son Ted suffers a car-crash which derails his political aspirations; son of eldest son dies in a 1999 plane crash.

While Christian America ponders whether curse or karma, another constituency retains a dogged skepticism about the official account of both assassinations. That the details are still shrouded in secrecy suggests that whoever gained by killing the Kennedys is still around, and is still powerful enough to intimidate accomplices.

A lesser celebrated 20th Century up and comer is la familia Bush. Prescott Bush made his money in oil and nefarious financial deals with Hitler, and with influential friends formulated the CIA in 1947. His son rose through the CIA to be president. His eldest grandson was appointed to the presidency and to infamy as well.

Deathbed confessions, among other evidence, have tied the CIA to the assassination of JFK. “Conspiracy Theories” link the grassy knoll to ex-Batistas to George H. W. Bush’s little Zapata offshore Anti-Castro operation. (Alex Jones recounts that in the CIA Bay of Pigs Operation, launched without Kennedy’s permission, one of the American ships had been renamed “Barbara II,” its namesake perhaps the Grumman Avenger “Barbara” which H. W. crash-landed in WWII.) In fact, FBI records place G. W. on the first plane to DC (from Dealey Plaza?)

Recent improved photo-analysis show several high-ranking CIA operatives present at the RFK assassination in 1968. I’ll leave Chappaquiddick and John John’s Martha’s Vineyard plane crash to future leaks and investigators.

In the meantime, John Hinckley Jr., attempted assassin of Ronald Reagan while Vice President Bush was next in line, was not just any mentally disturbed highly-suggestible boy, but the son of friend of Bush’s son Neil.

And how about those fixed elections of 2000 and 2004? Never mind whatever it was that happened on 9/11!

Is America more prepared to accept a Kennedy Curse, than the possibility that one family’s and a nation’s bad fortune might really have been blood spilled by Long Knives, one Fascist putsch after the next, until the burning of the Reichstag?

Taking it to the streets

Protests in Nepal
This picture was taken in Nepal shortly before soldiers began swinging their sticks and firing into the crowd. Recent events have wrought inumerable protests such as this. Except for the Ukraine, Haiti and Bolivia, few have ended favorably. Protestors in western nations have thus far faced only tear gas, rubber bullets and trunchons, nothing like the massacres in Uzbekistan and China.

Look hard at this picture. Do you think the American People could ever see themselves brave enough to face this moment?

Americans have seen their elections stolen, their treasury looted, their sons and daughters killed to enrich war profiteers. They’ve seen a president lie to take them into war, try to steal their Social Security, stack the Judicial Branch to a marked imbalance, hold himself above the law against invasion of privacy, exempt himself from new laws with “signing statements,” imprison people without due process, insist on being able to torture, limit free speech to “free speech zones,” declare a war on terror but refuse to acknowledge prisoners of war, weaken pollution standards and call it a “Clear Skies Initiative, ” sell protected public lands, promote the outsourcing of jobs overseas, seek to legalize the payment of poverty waves to illegal immigrants, inhibit states and foreign nations from taking action to avert global warming, double the U.S. deficit in order to give a tax break to the super rich, launch the thoroughly illegal war against Iraq and supervise the killing of now upwards of 250, 000 Iraqi lives, more than half of them children.

Feel free to add to this list if I’ve missed something.

Most recently we’ve learned that the president considers it his right to intimidate political opponents like Ambassador Joe Wilson by “declassifying” the CIA status of Wilson’s wife, thereby endangering the life her colleagues, her contacts, her friends, and all of their contacts and friends, everyone who foreign governments now suspect might have been CIA informers.

More Americans are coming to see that our president might have conspired, abetted or at the very least permitted the mass murder of 2,986 Americans on September 11th, 2001, to create the rallying cry of “9/11” not dissimilar to Remember the Main, the Lusitania, Pearl Harbor, and the Gulf of Tonkin before it. Each as dubious as the Reichstag fire.

Is it time as well to consider that the fate of the world rests in the hands of a man who believes in the end times as foretold in the Book of Revelations? Is it possible that our president does not care if Armageddon is hastened in the Middle East because anyhoo it has been prophesied?

If President Bush attacks Iran, this time using nuclear weapons, will it finally occur to the American people to do something to stop him? Are they up to the task?

The 911 Reichtag Fire

In 1933 someone set fire to the Reichstag, the historic German Parliament Building. Hitler seized on the occasion to incite in the German population a fear of terrorists and foreign agents, and trumped up his case for the preemptive invasion of Eastern Europe.

To prevent further acts of terrorism, Hitler curtailed civil rights and created the first concentration camp at Dachau. Predating the extermination camps by a half dozen years, Dachau began as an internment camp for political foes and other “enemies of the state.” Many Germans felt that the Reichstag fire was a Nazi deception, set deliberately to further Nazi goals.

2001 brought the American People their 9-11, with similar doubt as to how it came to happen. Americans were also given their Dachau at Guantanamo Bay, a prison camp absent every American notion of civil right. Americans soon became responsible as well for waging a preemptive war on Iraq based on trumped up charges of WMDs, and American atrocities at Mazar-i-Sharif and Fallujah, which beg comparison to the Nazi taking of Czechoslovakia, and Nazi acts at Babi Yar and Lidice.

To compare American to Nazis may seem like a profound trivialization of the horror of the Holocaust. There is no evil greater than that which perpetrated the Holocaust. But the Final Solution didn’t start until 1940. The U.S. Neocons are comparatively early in their game.

History has now confirmed that it was the Nazis themselves who started the Reichstag fire. They set the fire at night, while no one was in the building. Not a single life was lost. Not very Nazi-like. Someday history will reveal the truth about who perpetrated the events of September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center. Time will eventually have to overcome this administration’s persistent efforts to thwart investigation and accountability.

IF the Neocons in the U. S. administration, either by negligence or malice, did allow or facilitate or instigate or perpetrate this ugly tragedy, if they did this, what can they have yet in store for the American people?
