Fox puts $ where mouth is, admits phone whore best career chance

In one of their many late night commercials which seem to have a lot to do with sex products. It’s a recruiting ad for women to do “phone valet” work in the “telecommunications industry”.
Other ads, not as spicy, but just as hideously depressing “Yo Name TOBY, boy!” that show your destination to be eternal slave-level jobs… go to Tech School and be an entry-level nurses aid, orderly, grease monkey or similar Peasant Work.
All that “American Dream” crap they sell about deregulated Capitalist economics affording everybody a chance to become CEO of a multi-trillion dollar corporation… purest bullshit.
When it comes to what they REALLY believe your “career” opportunities to be, it involves coveralls or scrubs or a chambermaid uniform… or perhaps a whore. Glorify it how they will, they speak great words of “Land of Opportunity” if we only allow the Corporates to have their way… and then tell us how they really regard us in the commercials.
Republican Hypocrisy in action.

“conservative” Pentagon budget includes NASCAR

No, really, the “Conservative” TeaPotty and Republitards have voted to continue funding sponsorship of NASCAR teams as part of their “Recruitment” budget.
Yep, get the kids into the Murder Machine any way they can. So-Called conservatives don’t even care about their own kids. Much less anybody elses’ kids.
Hell, they see a kid and they reach for their AK 47.
Why do Republican TeaTard Minutemen Klan Militia members Hate American Kids?
Why do they hate the English language so much that they continue to call their greedy overfed herd of Hogs “conservative” when it’s obvious they conserve absolutely NOTHING?
Leaving alone “patriotism” and “freedom” and “morality” and “family values” and Christianity.
Just a bunch of babykillers as far as I can see.
Why don’t the NASCAR drivers go into the military, seein’ as how they’re so all fired up about going to other countries, taking everything from the people and killing anybody who objects? (especially the kids, them Republicans sho’ does love them some babykilling) Couldn’t possibly be that they’re not healthy enough, they brag all the time about being Professional Athletes. Then again, so does Rush Limbaugh’s equally Chickenshit brother David.

Guess they’re as skilled at lying as they are at being Gutless Wonders.

Super Duper Half Time Navy Flyover, half a million bux…

Yahoo! sports declared it “a good thing” for promoting “our nations military”. And wonders why nobody complains about GM paying for a super bowl ad… Very close to the truth… you can almost see it.. just pull your head out and open your eyes… Sure GM got corporate welfare, a lot of corporate welfare from their MILITARY CONTRACTS! “Our” military? Since When? They’ve existed for my entire lifetime to be a conduit for Corporate Welfare to Pigs like Bush and Cheney.

People who would start a war even if there were no direct benefit to them, because they’ll make money selling everything from shirt-buttons to mess-kits to coffins. They even own the Insurance companies which hold back on full payment of the serviceman’s “Buy The Farm payment” when he gets blown away conquering other nations for THEIR pleasure and profit. They delay full payment so they can collect interest on their Wehr-gelt. (blood money).

The so-called “Free” Corporate Press provide a Teflon shield from any criticism of their bloodthirsty mercenary tactics.

Like Yahoo! Sports with their WHORE propaganda writer.

It’s not “our” navy, it’s been given to the War Industry generations ago. The closest they come to asking the permission of the citizens for any of their wars is to tell us to shut the Hell up, stand up and salute when they march past waving the blood-soaked flag.

Or simply have the local Gestapo beat us down if we don’t.

Freedom, you know.

Oh, and pony up the bread for them to fly four expensive Navy Corporate Welfare jets from Virginia to Texas for a 10 second flyover. Because the Corporate Welfare Recipients paid a (tax deductible) small amount, for their purse, to buy the government off, so they don’t pay their taxes to support the Military or cops or any of the other sources of Corporate Wealth.

Does that sound Unpatriotic? REALLY? What the Hell would be patriotic about giving all the wealth of America and the rest of the world to the richest MuFu’s on the planet? What the Hell would be patriotic about blindly swearing loyalty to people who make money from Dead Babies?

Unexpurgated then and now.

Because of the massive amount of bigotry, jingoism and violent wishes expressed in reaction to one of our more popular Visitor Attractions showing just a minimal sample of war atrocity in the form of dead Soldiers. Like, what was expected, eh? The hate-speech brought forth from those who want to continue to generate such horrifying images but don’t want the Children they’re trying to recruit into the Army-Navy-Air Force-Marines to see the Glory of Warfare in its truest form, led me to think of other overt censorship from yet another war. Life Magazine had a picture of a wounded American or perhaps British soldier in the Pacific war, bandaged over the eyes and perhaps only temporarily blinded, definitely not seeing anything right then, being led by an island Native who was attached to the Medical Unit treating said soldier. Touching, eh, inter-racial inter-tribal inter-cultural compassion, yes? Not so, according to British censors. They were very indignant that a “wog” was shown in any position of power over a White Man. Even gently leading him by the arm. I looked for the picture just now, couldn’t come up with it just yet. Got pictures of German and other WW One soldiers with their faces burned beyond recognition, and still alive, from “our” weapons of mass destruction and those of “our” allies. In case anybody’s wondering, the British Empire and their related terrorist groups used Nerve Gas every bit as much as the “barbaric” Turks and Huns did.

There’s another picture of a Japanese soldier, what’s left of him, in a “pillbox” fortification with his hands still on his machine gun, after being hit with napalm from a flamethrower. Wonderful imagery, that. And, conspicuously absent, any negative commentary from Our Heroes when their handiwork is displayed in all its glory.

Just, you know, offers to beat us down in imaginary encounters with large numbers of Trained Killers for daring to expose what they, themselves, look like when dead.

I guess their gander just doesn’t taste quite as good with the goose sauce on it.

Pictures of Arlington National Cemetery with the former Army recruitment slogan “Be All That You Can Be”, guess that doesn’t sell the Recruiter Lies very well. Of course they’d object. Not from any sense of the dignity of the dead. Not from any concern that the comrades and family of the dead would be offended.

But the recruitment task becomes harder when people can see the reality. It interferes with the Recruiters and Chaplains and other Liars selling the souls of the next hundreds of thousands of Soldiers the same way they sold their own souls.

Biggest Advertising Faux Pas

Just cruised by a TV. Tonight the diet-and-exercise show Biggest Loser… which has promotional sponsors who for one show hawk their wares, apiece, usually a food related sponsor, or Pilates, or something like that. Campbell’s Soup, SubWay, Wendy’s. Tonight… the United States Army.
OOOPS. So the Army, which is trying desperately to claim the victory, the Win, the everything-but-utter-defeat… is sponsoring “The Biggest Loser”.

For those who aren’t in the know, the Army really doesn’t promote itself as a place to straighten out your life or get physically fit or emotionally together.
They figure if you’re not a grown up too bad, if you’re out of shape they’d rather you didn’t apply, unless they’re digging for numbers and cannon fodder. Contrary to their advertising of course. Also they don’t consider themselves to be a College Prep school nor an employment agency, even though they vaguely hint at it in their ads.
They don’t want to advertise the shocking numbers of Combat Vets who are unemployed and or homeless.
Speaking of, it’s almost time for the annual Stand Down, which, this year, takes place against a backdrop of Criminalized Homelessness. What a lovely and patriotic gesture the CSPD and Sheriff Maketa’s Gestapo are going to present!
Oh Well. Oh Hell.

Ron Kovic, Private Nation and the mystique of the Token Cripple

Because I get the same kind of crap in lower doses than Kovic and Max Cleland did and still do. When you become disabled at work you’re supposed to be grateful for any crust of bread thrown your way, and condemned as a whiner if you point out the guilt of the parties who brought you to that state. With war veterans it’s worse.
Ron Kovic and Max Cleland were “just fine” in the eyes of the Pentagon, until they started opposing the war, then they were and still are demonized. The Pentagoons, while Cleland was fighting to survive, leaving 3 of his limbs on the cutting room floor, (mixed metaphor there, cutting room is about films) his commanders were filling out paperwork exonerating themselves from any blame for what they had done to him. Like Kovic, and Private Nation, and John Kerry, and Flight Lt Joseph “Country” MacDonald, he was treated with the military equivalent of Honor as long as he consented to be the Token. The Warrior returning and still supporting a lost war. Touching, Heartwarming, (heartburn) but once they chose to speak out, save for Private Nation, they were the darlings of every parade, supporting sending even MORE young people off to kill other people in other lands, other mother’s sons… except for Private Nation. Who was Private Nation, you ask?

He was one of my ancestors. He, too, fought for the losing side, a hundred years earlier. Late in the war, the Civil one… hence, he wasn’t fighting to kill and die in Foreign Lands… he took a Minie ball upside his temple, tore off a chunk of his skull. Surgeon told him, “Private, that’s going to kill you eventually” and sure enough, 80 years later, it did. But he was a Confederate. He was fighting for the “states’ rights” cause. You know the one, the States’ Right to deny Liberty or even the definition of Humanity to HUMAN BEINGS based solely on the shade of their skins, and to deny them that Liberty before they were even born. And to use State Funds and State Police Powers to ensure that they remained in Slavery. In short, he was fighting not for States’ Rights, but for States’ WRONGS.

In VietNam, and now Iraq and Afghanistan, the Slave Owners live off premises, but it’s still the same concept. Still sending in the Private Nation and the Ron Kovic of the modern age. And if you get pieces of you blown off, you’re supposed to accept it, be rolled around in the parades like a Good Little Cripple, patted on the head and sternly warned not to say anything at all against the regime.

If Gunnery Sgt Nick Popavitch, proudly supporting the military that cost his eye and, really, their honor and his… If he ever stands up and says it’s wrong he won’t be their Tame Token Cripple anymore, and can expect His Comrades will turn on him like a pack of starving wolves on a pork chop. That’s the “freedom” they’re fighting. For. Against.

Private Nation never repented of his service to the cause of Slavery. Many people in the South feel that his “sacrifice” should be honored, but, you’ll notice, only those American Southerners whose ancestors were the Slave Owners, not those who have the slaves for ancestors.

Does the magnitude of the loss of limb or capacity or eye make the Cause of Slavery RIGHT? Turn it around and look at it from the perspective of the arbitrarily chosen “enemy”.

Does a Taliban soldier with pieces blown off of him, make the cause of the Taliban right, or wrong? What about an Afghan or Iraqi Civilian with pieces blown off him/her?

Is the measure of the human suffering of the human being, from whichever side, the True Measure of righteousness? For the ones who exploit the Token Cripple mystique, even using the wounds and disabilities of the wounded as Recruitment.. (that’s the nature of Military Parades, by the way, not to honor the dead and wounded, but to get more kids sucked into “serving”) According to the assmunches with that philosophy, yeah.

But, gentle reader, you decide. Private Nation was paraded every Confederate Memorial Day. Yeah, they actually did that. There wasn’t an Official Confederate Army into which they were trying to recruit the younguns. But there was always the Klan.

I can’t be ashamed of that heritage. Because I didn’t do the crimes nor do I support them. God-Damn if I’ll be proud of it either.

One final thought. Hopefully to tie it together. You know how some Veterans who are still in Denial (Pvt Nation until he died) say that only those who went to the wars can criticize? Kind of like “Only Mafia Hitmen can sit on a jury in a murder trial” but… what of those who DID go to the wars and criticize? Why the sudden dumping of them into the trash bin of history? Especially when their former Masters told them and still tell us that they fought for “freedom” especially of speech. “Them Soldiers fought for YOUR freedom of speech, how DARE you use that freedom?”

What about George Bush, no, the OLDER one, GHW… who was simultaneously tearing down the names and reputations of Ellsberg, Kovic, Cleland, Kerry, Country Joe (and the Fish) MacDonald, every man-jack of the VVAW, while using his influence to keep his own Junior out of the war from which both were profiteering?

What of Junior, and the Other ChickenHawks? If we call the ChickenHawks by their proper title of ChickenHawk, highly paid Billionaire Professional Liars like Rush Limbaugh accuse us of Hate Speech. Just applying the same logic but with a better twist is all.
If only those who fought can criticize, then only those who fought can START wars, or support them for that matter.

Better yet, none of them should start or support the wars either.
Sherman said “War is Hell” but he was wrong. War is Murder. Pure and simple, and making war is a crime against everybody.
Protesting against it isn’t even Officially a crime, but they sure as Hell punish people for it. Even if the people they’re punishing actually fought in those wars. “Double Standard” doesn’t even begin to describe it.

Difference between College Recruiter and Army Recruiter again

So Maryland Public Schools have been administering the ASVAB tests to students wholesale, as in every kid takes the test. This is the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery. I suppose the Maryland Board of Education didn’t ask very many questions about Uncle Sugar giving them FREE testing materials and evaluations. What a “(Trojan)gift horse”. So the tests have an Opt-Out, option 8, which makes the test from the Army point of view anonymous. There was a loophole in the original agreement. Option 8 was not available. Until now. The Board of Education and the Maryland Legislature wised up a bit.
So the Recruiters were contacting the kids not only with the best scores, but for one Really Damn Important part of what the ASVAB measures… Suggestibility. The willingness to follow orders and be stupidly obedient. Clever, eh? The PentaGoons got a low cost database of the most vulnerable kids, the ones who could be most easily (mis)led to believe any lies the Recruiters give them.

And demonstrates areas where the Targeted CHILD can be most easily (mis)informed about “opportunities”. Where the recruiter knows the kid by name, phone number, school computer network chat and email usernames…

Stuff that Other Child Predators would be rightfully denied access to. “Oh, it’s ok, we’re not seducing the kids with sex or (illegal) drugs, we’re just convincing them to join the Murder Machine and kill other kids in other countries, or, if the Pentagon so chooses, this country as well” (all enemies, foreign and domestic
Think not? The United States Government especially the Army, UNTIL 1911 didn’t grant American Indians citizenship rights, (like being off the reservation without Military Permission, under pain of death, as “renegades”) Which gave the Army open season on any Indian, man woman or child, who didn’t obey the Martial Law imposed by the Conquerors. It’s the reason given for the Murder of Sitting Bull, and for the Little Ouachita Massacre.

My very favorite reason not to trust the Army aside, they’re given through the use of these ASVAB tests a BlackOps Psychological Warfare weapon to use against American KIDS.

Now, are we ready for a far darker side to this, darker even than the perverted seduction of children into the Business of Mass Murder?

It would also show which Children would be most likely to resist. The Database of potential dissidents suddenly grows larger.

Oh, and with the kids’ addresses, phone numbers, social security numbers, (so they can freeze their assets “in case of national emergency”) date of birth and with a few math tools like the statistics analyses used to identify potential al Qa’eda sympathizers in the “liberated” nations of Iraq, Afghanistan and everywhere else in the world.
Using those tools, they could figure out the highest probability of who the “terrorist” kids are and who their closest friends are. Same, in reverse, for the “good” kids, the ones most likely to be seduced.
Kind of an Online Predator Drone aimed directly at American Kids.

Talk about your basic “bringing the War home”.

How much would you care to bet that the Army sues the school board over this decision?

Army Career “opportunities”

We’ve seen the ads, “Join the Military and get job training that employers want”.. yeah right. One of my friends in El Paso was at the time a Scout for the Third Herd, 3rd Armored Cavalry. Stationed at Ft Bliss but spent most of his time (between the constant wars in which America has been engaged, unofficially) in this patch of Hell called MacGregor Range sandwiched between the limits of Ft Bliss, Biggs Army Air Field, White Sands Missile Range and Holloman AFB. His take on it was the job opportunities using his training would be either working as a cop or a hitman. (Personal aside, I don’t make any distinction at all between the two jobs.)
A double-digit percentage of the unemployed in Colorado are veterans. That’s about twice the percentage of the population who are veterans. The TeeVee college ads, trade schools actually, because the Wealthiest don’t want to spring for a real academic education, they want to keep us firmly planted in the Servant Class, make promises to recently discharged Veterans that strongly echo the lies of the Military Recruiters. “get training the employers are looking for”.
You know, it would be a Hell of a lot easier for you to Skip The Army Bullshit and just go to college or trade school without their help.
That way you don’t have to Kill and possibly Die for the benefit of the very richest. Let them send their own sons and daughters into the fight. Like Bush, Cheney, Romney, the entire Limbaugh Family, all of them DIDN’T serve “our country” and they don’t send THEIR nasty little piglets into the fray either.

The Bush Twins actually went on a speaking tour Campaigning for their Coward Little Daddy but disguised as Promoting the Military Service as a “career opportunity”. Essentially told high school kids to drop out from education and join the Killing Machine.

Advice neither they nor the scions of their Fathers Accomplices took.

Nor did their father or any of his accomplices. (Pretending to be a Fighter Pilot doesn’t count, everybody ELSE who had the word “combat” in his MOS at the time got sent to VietNam, save for a very few, very privileged scions of the very rich… like GW)

Face it, kids, you really DON’T owe it to America to join the Army. The United States has been in constant wars since the end of World War 2 and has not actually had a congressional declaration of war since December 8, 1941.

Nor have ANY of those wars actually been about American or anybody else’s “freedom”. To the veterans of those wars, there’s two different sides to that. The one told to you by the Government, saying how much they love and respect you.

And those of us who actually respect you, America and ourselves enough to Not Tell You Those Lies.

It’s a hideous thought that your time and the killing in which you participated, and the lives of your comrades, was exactly that meaningless… that the blood shed and destruction wrought was merely to fill the pockets of the Richest Bastards on earth, and who themselves declined to fight for their own wealth.

But that’s how it is, bubba. That’s how it is.
Rather than get all outraged about somebody telling you the Truth, why not focus that rage on the Sons-of-bitches who sent you into that using Lies, and pat you on the head every Veterans Day and any other War-related Holidays?

Which are the majority of state and federal “holidays”.

I should point out that Holiday is an English merger of the two words Holy Day. There’s nothing Holy about War.

The Military is just an extension of the Servant Class who are used by the Wealthiest at their convenience. Like the Rich who say they gained their money without exploiting their workers.
In their eyes we’re all disposable, allowed to live as long as we make them their money.

It’s the very core of Capitalism.

Stop recruiting US soldier terrorists

Did I hear this right — Minnesota families are alarmed that their young men are recruited to travel overseas to commit acts of terrorism? Except reporters aren’t talking about shadowy military recruiters with unfettered access to US classrooms and kindergartens enticing American youth to join the global capitalist Jihad, the alarm is about Somali relatives enjoining their fellow refugees to return to their homeland to defend Somalia against Ethiopian invaders.

Trouble is, al-Shabaab, the organization leading the fight in Somalia is being declared a terrorist organization by the US Government. Strange really, because the only acts of terrorism in Somalia are being committed by the US military or their Ethiopian proxy. But terrorism has always been defined by authoritarian propagandists as only what the enemy does. Whether it is a state or an insurgency.

I should think this is problematic when the definition of terrorism is linked to a religious cause. Radical Islam, it would seem, becomes by definition a terrorist goal. Is there not something about the separation of church and state that should hinder the US from deciding that one religion can be outlawed?

Doesn’t this mark an escalation of US state oppression — for the state to decide on which side of foreign struggles its citizens are permitted to weigh? How are foreign populist movements to manage lobbyists in Washington to ensure their struggle isn’t blacklisted as “terrorist?”

It does open the door to American domestic counter-recruiting efforts. Declare the US military a terrorist organization, and we can halt its recruiters in their tracks. No more fresh recruit pipeline to the occupation zones, no more “underground railroad” to Fort Hood. Have the US Congress declare our military a perpetrator of terrorism. It’s not a difficult argument to make. Evidence goes back to before US independence, when “Americans” fought dirty against the continent’s aboriginal population. Now examples of US state sponsored terrorism are gratuitous. The young men we send on Jihad return with haunted consciences from the acts they inflict on innocent populations. What are the motives of indiscriminate bombing, apprehension and torture, but pure terrorism to buttress subjugation to US goals?

Who says there is no good news?

1. Celebrity activists have joined to condemn the Toronto Film Festival’s celebration of the movie industry of Tel Aviv, inappropriate while an Israeli regime ruthlessly exterminates its Palestinian Problem by seizing their lands, driving them into exile, and interning those who refuse to leave in the ghettos of Gaza and the West Bank, then making warm fuzzy movies about it.
2. Iraqi Bush Shoe-Thrower Muntadhar al-Zaidi has been freed! He says he was tortured for his act, but he didn’t regret it. “I got my chance and I didn’t miss it,” he said, now missing a few teeth. The US media is equating Joe Wilson’s affront to earnest debate to al-Zaidi’s internationally-hailed angry repudiation of a lying mass-murderer. Good luck with that.
3. Activists have been arrested for protesting war recruiting in a Philadelphia mall where children were being offered an “Army Experience Center”. Alright, arrests are not good news, in particular when they include the OpEdNews reporter covering the action, but it’s always encouraging to see Americans stand between Army recruiters and their prey.

Note on #1: Signers of the complaint to the TIFF, who include Naomi Klein and Howard Zinn, explain that they are protesting the festival’s framing of the Israeli films, they are not “black listing” the films as the defenders of Israel charge. To me, equating a protest of the festival to blacklisting smacks of decrying “anti-Semitism.”

The chief celebrities rushing to counter the TIFF complainants are, according to the Toronto Star: Jerry Seinfeld, Natalie Portman, Sacha Baron Cohen , Lisa Kudrow, David Cronenberg, Minnie Driver, Simon Wiesenthal Center founder and filmmaker Marvin Hier, Cineplex Canada CEO Ellis Jacob, Norman Jewison, Lenny Kravitz, Sherry Lansing (former head of Paramount Studios), producer Robert Lantos, the UJA Federation of Greater Toronto and the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. Interesting pattern?

In the interim, a UN probe determines war crimes were committed in Gaza incursion, and US envoy seeks to reach compromise with Israel over illegal settlements.

Marine recruiters pursue high schoolers

COLORADO SPRINGS- I saw a local military-education atrocity the other day when I passed a school as kids recessed for lunch. Next time I’ll have a camera and I won’t be alone making sure it doesn’t happen again.

You’ve seen it at outdoor fairs, the Marine recruiter canopy. Bolt upright Marines stand in uniform around a chin-up bar beckoning teenage boys to come show off their upper body strength. Usually there’s a tank-topped ringer crediting his biceps to a military regimen.

In past this was as innocuous as any misappropriated emphasis on physical fitness. The services were voluntary after all, and short of the special forces, most military duty was served at sleepy bases in Germany, Korea or Okinawa. Of course, since Granada we’ve come to see how much more combat our soldier boys have been seeing.

These days with high casualties in Afghanistan, and Iraq, and growing conflicts in Somalia and Sudan, covert exposure in Georgia, Colombia and elsewhere, the prospect of the military getting their claws on your child takes on a sinister consequence.

Probably today’s chin-up bar would be akin to the archery tournaments of medieval days. Fun, irresistible, a sure ticket off the farm but to a destiny of a vagabond with a lost limb if you were lucky. Mothers no doubt cautioned their boys against showing off their bow and arrow skills, just as today they might panic about military recruiters seeing their kids’ Xbox scores.

Today I passed by Palmer High School at about lunch time. Kids were pouring out the front doors to spend their lunch hour in Acacia Park across the street. What did I spy, not in the city park, but right in front of the school building, but a handful of smartly dressed Marines with their chin-up bar. Right at the front door. You’d have to walk around around them to get in or out.

All around the red-painted chin-up bar were high school peers watching as others stood in line waiting for their chance to show their strength. There you have it. If I’d had my camera, I could have gotten the red bar, the formal marine uniforms, their cohorts in black wife-beaters, and all the eager kids, right beneath the WILLIAM J. PALMER HIGH SCHOOL lettering above the school entrance. I wonder how many mothers that image would have pleased.

A call to the counselor’s office revealed that the recruiters cannot be denied from visiting a school at a moment’s notice. A further conversation with the principal revealed that the recruiter’s presence is supposed to be no more than a table with literature. The circus attraction was news to him. But a quick survey of a couple high schoolers revealed that the chin-up bar attraction has made the rounds before.

I imagined circulating among them with antiwar fliers, and earning the teenager scorn as if I was crashing a scene to which they were already wise. Kids know everything these days, except of course they do not. Nothing’s changed over the centuries, neither war predatory appetite, nor a child’s vulnerability, nor their stubbornness to defy wisdom.

I think it’s the same foot you have to put down on drugs. You, Mister Know-it-all, may think you’ve got your eye on the ball beneath that shell game, but the scheme’s much larger than your peripheral vision. You’re in school to learn about widening your view, and before you graduate there are predators whose only crack at you will be during adolescence.

Young would-be drinkers often raise the argument that if you’re old enough to serve your country in the army, you should be old enough to drink alcohol. Now it’s true that the soldier-makers want you in your prime. Except for that perversion of a life’s purpose, we need to turn that comparison on its head. If you’re not ready for alcohol, perhaps you shouldn’t be let near the soul-changing fork in the road presented by a military recruiter.

Support your junior proto-fascists

German Girl Scout
What are the Girl Scouts exactly? Like Boy Scouts, they wear uniforms; and not Catholic school uniforms, or sports team uniforms, but military uniforms, of colors made to camouflage a wearer in nature. We know Baden-Powell was about well-behaved boys, kept off the street, appreciating conservationism. Did he have to dress them like soldiers?

Couldn’t girl scouts, for example, dress like girls? Probably the images of Hilter Youth would not be so stigmatized if they hadn’t looked like uniformed Nazis in training.

Republican Youth Scouts of today seem to be about the same unquestioning patriotism: duty, honor, ratting on their parents, and dressing like Fascists. In a not unrelated exploitation of youth, Girl Scouts are made to peddle cookies of a quality Keeblers wouldn’t feed a pet hobbit, hyped by the urban-mythical Thin Mints, surely viral marketing if ever there was a poor cookie

The Army wants you and for cheap

I just found this out a few minutes ago. It kind of dropped my jaw to the floor, the arrogance of it. Seems the Marines are E-mailing high school kids, the one in question is 15 years old. Offering 3 free music downloads, and in the fine print is, if they download them, a Marine Recruiter calls them.

That bullshit they’re using with the You made them strong, We’ll make them Army Strong and When your KID Talks To You About The Army…

You know, the only time your KID would need your permission to go into the military is if he actually is a KID, a minor, under 18.

There’s another, more sinister reason the Army wants to recruit kids straight out of high school. The pay.

The Army/Navy/Air Force/Marines don’t actually want your son or daughter to get a college education BEFORE going in, because They Would Be Promoted To The Pay Grade Of Sergeant Right Out Of Basic Training, And Would Be Sent To Officer Candidate School. In 3 months they would be commissioned and have the Rank, the Privileges and MOST IMPORTANTLY the PAY of Second Lieutenant, in the Navy it would be Ensign.

The Air Force and Navy and Marines will suck them in with pictures of Manly Men in Manly Flight Suits Striding Down the flight line in a Manly Manner to a Sleek Ultrapowerful Killing Machine….

But the only way you become a pilot is if you have a Bachelor’s Degree.
No way would you get in a plane if you only graduated High School, no matter what your GPA or how intelligent you are.

That’s how a Jackoff Agent like George W. Bush became a Lieutenant, even though he has no leadership ability, no physical courage and is dumb as a bag of hammers.

When they say that personal or family wealth doesn’t make a difference once you put on a Military Uniform they’re lying through their teeth.

Now, a job where you get to wear a flight suit on the flight line, without college, is the guys who stand out on the runways with the wand flashlights.

Of course, if they’re on the flight line when a plane makes a horribly wrong landing, they’re just as likely as the pilot to be killed.

More so, in fact. Because, you see, Pilots cost more to replace than mere enlisted men.

So the Medics will be forced, by Air Force rules, to save the Pilots first and enlisted men second.

And, the survivor’s benefits for the guy’s widow and orphans will depend on his pay grade. The Pilot’s widow and orphan will be paid more for Daddy being offed than the Flashlight Guy’s family will.

People’s Republic of Higher Education

Fair enough, the Berkeley City Council is being asked to reconsider whether it really meant to tell US Marine Corps recruiters to go fuck themselves. I hope it’s just a chance to say it again.

Maybe the People’s Republic of Berkeley is due for a new honor. Keeper of the Flame of Freedom. The United States of Berkeley. It used to be the joke to send the Statue of Liberty back to the French, because America wasn’t using it. How about we install Lady Liberty off the shores of Berkeley? They’re showing the temerity to claim her. Berkeley is standing up for everything America used to. What do you make of the vociferous accusations of treason being leveled at Berkeley in the name of patriotism? What fault can you find with the clear headed resolutions being pronounced by their City Council?

The only thing which differentiates Berkley from the rest of the country is level of education. I wouldn’t want to be caught poking fun at, much less belittling, someone smarter than me, especially for taking a more principled stand than I -err- me. You can tease them about inarticulate athletic ability, but the last thing you’d want to do is to presume to correct a grammarian.

How are dumbfuck Americans like Move Forward America so easily goaded to speak derisively of their own who know better? It’s one thing to question authority, another even to be skeptical in general. But Berkeley isn’t filled with the social engineers who’ve got a boot on your throat, it’s full of students, your children, who you sent to acquire an education. Not your education in fact, a better education. A world view beyond your own, a comprehension you were not afforded. That’s Berkeley.

Berkeley is not unique, though perhaps it has the highest visibility. Regionally there are other college towns that fit the leftist stereotype. Boulder and Ann Arbor for example. These are home to progressive populations, teachers, students and alumni which color the demographics significantly to affect the local politics. Why are better educated people always leftists? A dolt could only hope to chance upon the inspiration to ask himself such a doozy.

This dolt would ask the reverse: AS left EQUALS education, SO less-left MUST EQUAL less-education.

Why aren’t more college campuses like Berkeley? What’s going on that our educational institutions are producing idiots to mock the product of real education? It’s a terrible portent.

Arming recruiting with WRX STi

Out of desperation a friend of mine has entangled himself with army recruiters –that’s the way most around him want to see it. He’s buzzed his head and claims he wants to be “Army Strong.” He and the recruiter have already visited the car lot where an Impreza WRX STi awaits his sign-up bonus. All he will have to do to get financing is show his military ID.

Last night he took the tests at Fort Carson to measure his aptitude and psychological profile. He teased me afterward about a particular question for which his recruiter had coached him. “Do you have a conscience?” The advised answer was “no.”

Subaru Impreza cruiserUp to now it’s been mostly one on one with the recruiter because last night my friend kept expressing his surprised satisfaction at the large turnout of fellow recruits. “There must have been at least sixty, he said trying to torment me. Adding eagerly: “And lots of hot chicks.”

Hot chicks? Hmmm. Hmmm. Not to take anything away from the lovely female gender soldiers who’ve already joined the Army, but how likely is it that my friend saw lots of hot chicks at Fort Carson last night? Or lots of anybody? Any chance many of them might have been stand-in enlistees commanded to wear civvies, accompanied by girls from the Deja Vu moonlighting in pursuit of Iraq-bound soldiers to die and leave them beneficiary to the $250,000 insurance?

My sister was once targeted by card sharps on a bus ride home. She was wearing her waitress uniform so they probably knew she would be carrying what she’d earned for tips. Here’s what happened: she noticed a guy with cards challenging people to follow a particular card, etc. Most of the riders ignored him but gradually a small crowd was drawn to the action, including my sister. When she was finally lured to bet her cash, and lose it in the space of a few seconds, right then the bus stopped and the entirety of the little crowd vaporized. More than having been duped of her money, my sister was most shaken by the realization that she had been the lone target.

Same bait, same switch

Troops needed to watch the Mexico borderWell looky who’s used the protect the border bait and switch before! Ninety years ago, same illegal immigration scare, same perp.

I happened across some posters used to recruit soldiers during WWI. Here they raise the Mexico bugaboo to ease worries that enlistment into the military would automatically mean duty in the trenches. “No More Men Are Needed” at the western front. Oh really?! It reminds me of something Air Force recruiters were telling Colorado College students on Thanksgiving 2005. US troops would be out of Iraq by Christmas. Potential enlistees need not fear being sent to Iraq because America was already pulling out. Public opinion had already forced their hand, they said, and we were pulling out.
